Lightning Player

Just saying, DJ Lemahieu had a hell of a game yesterday.

I don't know but Matt Thais needs a card for going 3 for 5 with 5 rbis and two stolen bases . First catcher to do that since 1934 . Common sds give the Angels some love.

The fact people have to do math to figure out the timeline for lightning further illustrates the problem with the game this year. I guess they thought the monthly lightning timeline was too easy to figure out.

@SakAttack87_PSN they made a Topps Now card for him IRL, so chance of one in game

And he got a Topps Now card for it.
I've said it many times before that Topps usually puts out 20 or more of these cards a week, from which SDS puts less than 10 into the game. Many will be left out.
He's a Yankee which never hurts. But, he has already had a Season 1 99 overall card so I am kind of in favor of SDS using it for guys who only have their live card and are unlikely to earn any other cards the rest of the year.

It is a 7 week reward cycle and not a 4 week cycle right?
Who knows. I kind of hope so because between June 1st and July 27th Alec Burleson had the 2nd most RBIs in the league behind only Aaron Judge.
That would keep him in the hunt for a card. Not the Lightning but maybe one of the other Season Award cards. I could use him at 1B on my cardinals team instead of the new Cepeda
This to me highlights the big fail of the system. Burleson probably isnt getting the lightning card (Lindor has only 2 less RBI in July but higher OPS, 7-7 in steals, etc) but he would have likely gotten a 97 at least. There is less celebration of productivity over a whole month. SA has become a glorified Topps Now only that the bulk of the cards are locked behind rare rounds of packs.
-
100% this... lightning cards are very easy to make, but if they give us a free one every month that is one less card that you need to open packs to find a replacement for. They should have kept that the same format as last year because people were excited about it and there was double the chances for your favorite team to get a player.
-
Not to mention the lightning player programs were 3x as big as the largest program this year and gave people a competent team to take into sub 700 ranked if they were new/rejoining

I was not a fan of the prior program setup. The way they trickle fed you the cards near the end of the program sucked. Here's one card now go earn PXP with it and then we will give you the next card, which you will need to go earn PXP with before we will give you the next one.
Now, I am also not a fan of half of the cards being in packs this year. I would like to earn them all.
Isn't the upcoming Lightning player the 4th? That is about the same pace as last year when it was monthly. We would have gotten a lighting in the beginning of May, June, July and Aug which is where we are at now.

You cant please everyone. But there is a balance they dont even bother trying for. As an example the individual player xp missions maybe should not be required to complete a program, but every program should have pxp missions for an optional reward similar to how the online tracks extend past the top card.
I stopped playing for a month and even now barely play because the program content sucks this year with very little effort required for pretty much everything.
One thing they got right I feel was the London series. It was a pack reward so far from essential, but I enjoyed playing with a bunch of cards I otherwise maybe wouldnt have to get it.
