Remember SDS: Most of your playerbase prefers offline

I don't even have to read this to tell you offline doesn't make them money. Online makes money.
You should stop playing 24 and play 21-23 like the rest of the playerbase right now. I wouldn't be surprised if 24 has a lower player count than 21 -

And PvE in general is a proven money maker. PvP just allows companies to be lazy.

I've been playing 23 and I enjoy the game again. I don't play offline and while I can understand the playerbase is likely mostly offline, it is hard for me to understand how a non adventure competitive game is successful offline in modern age of gaming.

Collectors, people that want the path of least resistance, etc.
And most offline people do eventually journey into online so cosmetics can matter. A little less so in a baseball game, but look at the amount of people that use the pencil bat. It wasnt tough to earn so people use it because they like it (I dont personally understand this, but to each their own)Honestly if they somehow synced reward quantity and quality between the online modes (BR ranked Event) and offline modes (Conquest Mini Season) and sold a $9.99 season pass that earning one gave a no sell version of the other it would make money from both offline and online people. And since both are earnable if you want to put in the work, people would get over their initial complaints pretty quickly.
I'm not in favour of extra monetization, but its inevitable at this point. So long as they dont slow down progress to sell a fast pass, or cards 'earnable' only with cash.

I was an offline player in my first year for about half the year and then started playing online when it was first released on Xbox. I can understand playing offline when someone is new to the game or some disability holds you back from competing online but other than that I don’t get it. Do people like playing with no challenge?
First and foremost diamond dynasty is an online mode. It’s what it was made for. Offering all this extra modes offline is just icing on the cake. Anybody can play the game any way they want to. Within the last few years they’ve added more content and modes to offline players such as mini seasons. If you aren’t playing the majority of the intended mode then you should be left out and most of what the mode offers.

This is 100% wrong.
Its the sports version of a hero collector, and hero collectors aren't inherently PvP or PvE.

Also, people that play offline aren't necessarily doing it for 'no challenge'. Some grind CPU vs rookie because the game is setup for that to be the most efficient progress, but not everyone does that. I spend 95% of my time on All Star personally where I will at least lose some of the time. the game does a terrible job at encouraging higher difficulties though.
Here are some other reasons people dont play online:
-Need to be able to walk away from the game at a moments notice
-Unreliable internet connection
-Live in other parts of the world
-Matchmaking in 2 of the 3 online modes is [censored]
-The mode with decent matchmaking is still fairly rare to get a good 9 inning game in
-Clown ballparks
-Clown team names/logos
-Clown people (bunt dancers/r2/etc)Even if the initial intent was to make DD online, a smart company adapts to their playerbase
I feel this year they are instead trying to push people to online more and its thankfully backfiring.
-
It's understandable about "most" preferring offline. I wish online was better, but between the expiring cards, toxic users, rage quitters, bunt dancers, cheesy stadiums, P2P latency, etc. Online H2H has been in a horrible state for a while....unfortunately.

@Teak2112_MLBTS Do you really want to debate if the game is more for offline/online players? I mean, I agree, that there could/should be more stuff to do for offline-people like conquest, mini seasons, some new stuff … Why do you waste your energy debating what „most“ (You do not know, what most do) do.
-
Wasn’t Diamond Dynasty only online when it first launched with fake cards? I wasn’t around but I have heard something among the lines of it.
A seasoned veteran that can confirm?

I'm going by past polls, and a reddit poll of several thousand votes from last year is a statistically significant enough sample for me. Its possible the reddit community skews offline more than the general population, but I would think the opposite would be more likely.
I think its a very safe statement to make.
It also follows from the logical path the baseball fans are older than most other sports games fans, and older gamers are more likely to prefer PvE than PvP. that one is just speculation with no backup though.
Realistically, the game should have robust content in both styles of play as while most would prefer offline, there are few that either/or. I enjoyed my time in ranked in season 1. Wouldnt want to play it all the time, but its a good change of pace.

they have gotten wrapped up in flash instead of keeping up with the bones of the game , they should make the game stable , fun , engaging , all the effort they spend in graphics like when you pull a diamond card could have been spent in both time and money in shoring up the bones of the game
when you say "offline" do you mean off the internet or "not live player" games , there is a difference , i dont play Live player games because i dont want to waste my time dealing with some T urd munchers antics to get a cheap win
-
@iBonafideScrub__PSN you are confusing offline with live player , DD is still online when playing conquest and mini , thats why you have to update to use online services when a patch is available , i think RTTS and Franchise can be played truly offline which is why you can play when servers dump
-
I think we are nitpicking over the definition between offline and not playing against real players.
Technically DD is online meaning that you have to be connected to the internet so that SDS can track your progress and give you rewards.
But in the context of this thread, we all pretty much understand that by offline they mean simply not playing against other real people or playing it as a single player mode.
In the end, reddit polls or not, none of us know what the exact percentages are between those who never play against live players, those who sometimes play live players but prefer single player, and those who only play single player.
As a single player mode person myself I have a pretty low opinion of the content this season (See my thread begging SDS for reasons to play those modes). In spite of the fact that I do still play from time to time, this is the first year since 18 that I believe that I just won't ever make it to any of the Boss Packs at all for the entire year. The amount of grinding needed is too great and the amount of content presented to keep me engaged enough to reach those packs is just too small.

@Dolenz64_XBL ummmm , didnt i just say that? lmao

Yes. It was a online pvp mode, with fake cards you are correct. Best version of it imo. Definitely different then what we have now
