Not even coming at any of y’all but how are you guys genuinely enjoying this game when it comes to DD

I mean for real, events suck, TA seems incredibly lack luster this year, mini seasons practically non existent, each pack drop feels more mid n mid, and it’s all behind a paywall barely any programs worth good rewards but I see people somehow still defend this game. Don’t tell me to go play road to the show or casual/play w friends where I can use all my 99’s. That’s not how it should work especially when you get barely any rewards from any mode. All around DD is terrible this year and I still see people defend it. That’s who the community is listening too not the majority saying how terrible this game actually is so please share your thoughts

So here's my angle,
At peak gameplay the game is incredibly fun to me. Baseball at its core is incredibly fun. Deck building and coming up with unique combos is incredibly fun.
But the game is unpolished, plays pretty [censored] bad and unbalanced, co-op is shot to hell, sets have ruined my desire to play ranked, grinding is horrible and brain rottingly repetitive. They said they fixed foul balls but I swear any time I play ranked every other batter is going 10 pitches because they keep making light contact with dirt balls instead of swinging an missing. Perfect perfects from me keep getting shot into an infielders glove.
If you don't like that they remove the ability for you to keep using the cards you grinded for. "yOu CaN plAY oThER MoDEs!" No. No you can't. Ranked is almost the only game mode that consistently gives decent XP. You can't play with your friends without running into a freeze off. It's atrociousI've ranted before and there is a lot to hate about the game and honestly it's not like I'm really enjoying that much. I just play it cause it's something to play a couple games of and be done. I play almost only casual cause it's the only mode that doesn't feel like absolute [censored] playing but you don't get [censored] for playing it.
Idk. I don't really encourage people play ranked. I think sets is horrible idea on a dying game. I also don't play offline. I don't find any desire to play a competitive game against bots. Especially one that's so [censored] repetitive as this. The grind is real and it's not fun.
There's a LOT to hate

The content structure is god awful and they aren't pivoting. 3 tweets touting 'what's new in the shop!' this past Friday was particularly shameless.
It's kind of amazing that SDS has created a live service game with sparse content while the monetization aspect is horribly done. Most of the packs for sale have been absolute garbage. Even if they were better the cards in those packs are outdated in a couple weeks with an accelerated power creep.
None of it makes sense to me, not least of all the SDS Truthers who think everything is fine and dandy.

For someone who actually has a job and little kids, it's exhausting. The length to get a million XP is too much for the average person and it feels like a 2nd job at this point. I got 2 of them last season with a week left. And then all that hard work to get good players was wiped away. If you're in monthly sales, you'll know what I'm talking about. College Football 25 can't get here fast enough.

I’m just having fun in my own little world this year. No online, no hard core grinding. I just play offline, keep what I collect, play programs, play conquest, complete team affinity. And if I get bored and don’t play for a couple days, meh….so what. I’d imagine that I will rarely if ever get a boss card this year. Oh well.

I play through Storylines, casually play with the guys I unlock with conquest and ignore everything else with DD. It's the way to go and still enjoy life outside of this time sink.

My Mom is 74 and has stage 4 cancer. I take care of her full-time. When I play this game, I want no stress. I want to relax and walk through content like I'm God. No sweat games, no frustration. But frustration and anger is all I seem to get when I play this year's game. It's not only not fun to play but for me an act of frustration as well. IMO, to cover for the very little content they release, they intentionally made it take longer to complete. For some it makes it more grindy, others it makes it harder. I for one wish the moments for example were on rookie. Vet is harder than all-star for me for some reason. I want a relaxing fun time, and this game just doesn't do it this year for me.

I've largely stuck with it because if I quit now then I'd feel like the S1 and early S2 grind was a waste of time (it wasn't, but those feeling lurks within me). It's fun to grind in small doses; however, with this system I'm always feeling rushed to play more.

I don't play Battle Royale because they charge 1500 stubs. Events are a waste of time because of you give up a run you run out of time to come back.

The gameplay is (mostly) great, but season 2 is awful
I restarted 2023 which has immensely better program content and the same gameplay.
Friday's lack of content killed any desire to play 2024 for the time being, well see what retro program bringsAnd I think SDS knows that the content is generally disliked. They cant do anything about the packs most likely, but they can hopefully correct course on the lack of program content.

I just do

I play offline and I enjoy it when I play. Do I love all the packs and the fact that they put the cards that I desire the most either in those packs or as a collection reward? No, not in the slightest.
Shoot, I even played three event games the other day, which I never do, and even though I lost 2 out of 3 they were close games and I enjoyed them.
So, do I enjoy the gameplay? Yes. Playing mostly offline with that brief online detour I have enjoyed it.
Content? Not so much. -
I used to play 2k MyTeam a lot. DD is leagues ahead of it. The seasons are meh, the programmes this year are lacking and there has been a clear ramp up in monetisation. In saying that, DD is still leagues better than MyTeam and the game is much more enjoyable.
Side note: As somebosy that only got into baseball around 4 years ago, it's cool unlocking a random former player and than heading to YT for some clips and such. Of course I knew about the legends, Babe, Mantle, Roninson, Mays, Griffey ect. But some of the less heralded guys are pretty interesting.
-
I am enjoying the game very much this year. I like that I can use LS players on my DD squad and enjoy playing ranked. BUT and to get to your point: I understand that you are not enjoying it, because content is not good. And I am sticking to it: This year is wayyyyy better than 23

Largely disappointed, I mean the biggest feedback they got was against Seasons(If you go by Reddit, Forums here) and they doubled down on it. The Gameplay XP being slashed was quite possibly one of the most asinine things they could have done because all it did was hurt their average player and slightly annoy the grinders. With that came burying bosses so deep into the rewards path that a large portion won't be able to get them. I get it, not everyone is gonna get them regardless, and there is program XP rewards too which help...but most simply don't have the time it takes, don't have the time to make this a second full time job.
That being said I'm still enjoying playing, because baseball is fun. Just wish they were a little less tone-deaf to the player base.
