Aren’t S1 cards usable in S2?

Correct me if I’m wrong… But aren’t S1 cards usable in S2? As in, don’t they count towards S2 eligibility? Everyone keeps stating that S1 cards become unusable in three weeks, but I believe they become unusable at the conclusion of S2. Right? Isn’t it usually core players, the current season cards and the previous season cards that are eligible for a given season?
I’m not defending the ridiculous amount of time it takes to get the S1 bosses, but just trying to clear up some confusion.
Unless they changed that this year.

Yes it was changed this year. They are unusable unless you used a wild card slot (only 4 and you have to grind them).
This content model sucks.

Season 2 requirements only apply to certain game modes. Not every mode in the game.

They can be used in any content that is not Season specific. Things like the US Conquest Map or Default mini Seasons.
But unless they are used in a Wildcard spot they will not be allowed on a Squad that you need to use for most, if not all Season 2 content (New programs, new conquest maps, new mini seasons, ranked, etc).

Battle Royale has no season restrictions if I remember correctly

Absolute worst change they made IMO. I can live with the neutered XP and capping but making it so that I can't bring cards I just bought for 350K into next season is a joke. Yes, I know it's my own fault for buying cards valued at that knowing it will be taken away soon.
And those 4 WC spots, won't even be able to unlock all of them until 5-6 weeks in I bet.
I'm also willing to bet a good portion of the community doesn't even know about this change from last season. Guaranteed they are expecting to carry S1 cards into S2.
My guess is SDS knowing people won't be able to bring these cards into S2 is that the "pack" cards are some of the worst we will have seen in that last week.

Co-op has the same rewards as solo Ranked and you can use any cards you want.

The fact there is a Satisfaction survey out already and it's barely mid-May speaks volumes. Tells me that they're already seeing engagement drop-off trends that they don't like. Whether or not they actually acknowledge their idiocy and make changes is a different story

I remember last year we were all complaining about 60k xp cap, they definitely neutered on how to get xp. we were hitting 1 million xp 4 weeks into each season.

@BJDUBBYAH Co-op also only gives parallel rewards to the host.

@BJDUBBYAH co-op is also the buggiest game mode and least serviced by SDS. CO-OP also stifles your teams overall on purpose. Co-op also doesn't work with captains right now. Co-op has the worst freeze offs in all of the game modes by far.
You make a fair point IF the game mode is actually playable and good. Next to casual it's the biggest joke in DD. -
