I strongly encourage offline players to play the BR program, it helps with TA's and you also unlock several diamonds on the way up.

This is why I play BR. 12 cards plus the collection reward (I'm not going 10-0 like you 😊 ) I'm not great - will typically get through 5-6 games per entry, but the rewards more than make up for that. And, like you said, lots of TA progress.

RS is just a long, long slog. Events seem to be extra sweaty this year, but that could just be me. Plus, you don't get any rewards unless you win. BR is a nice balance, and a good way for some of you "offline only" players to dip your toes into online.

As far as being trash-talked or trolled - I don't see it much. If I do, I just block them. On the occasions where I do message a player "good game", they usually respond in kind. I'd love to run into @chucky97____PSN in a BR game someday. I will respond "GG" after he stomps me.

Anyway - if you're on the fence, give it a try.

@arvcpa This!! I'm by no means a flawless every time player ( i really dont care enough, I draft for program progress) so like even if I lose I'm always tracking program points, I actually enjoy doing the BR program because of the XP you'll get as well.

@Ledfoot_19 I just dont believe Online is all RNG and Luck, Even saying that, isnt that how baseball is? One team is free swininging, the other isnt, one team gets fortunate BABIP luck, the other team doesnt, do you want every game to be 2-3 going into the 9th?

@arvcpa I ALWAYS say good game after a daily tournament game weather I win or lose. I don't message after other competitive games but if someone trash talks me it's open game no rules.

@chucky97___ No. When I linked my PSN to the forums app it deleted all my forum history and made a new account linked to Sony. I'm on the grid now.

Toxicity is my main reason. I played online 17, 18, and 20. Sure not every experience is awful, but the ones that are bad are just too unbearable to put myself through. I have messages off and people would send friend requests with nasty messages.

Winning isn't everything to me, but it really feels like it is to my opponents. I just want a fun game, but whether it's holding R2, constantly taking a step, running like they are th 75 Cardinals, hitting and running with every runner, bunt dancing or dashboarding HRs that I need for my mission, people make online no fun.

I hear once you get up to CS and WS these guys are gone, but I wouldn't know, I never got out of the 700s, the very few times I even made it.

I see so many people who play this game with expensive monitors to reduce lag down to nothing, I just want to play some baseball on my 65 inch TV.

So about 2021 or so I canceled my PS plus and haven't looked back. It sucks I miss out on so much, I'll never get the Easter program done, but playing online isn't worth it to me. I just pray they don't make a Reds card online only.

Oh and I hated BR, I played it on 17 because there were missions specifically for it, I don't think I ever did it again.

I used to be a mostly online player but as I get older and my reaction time gets worse, it has become less and less fun. I used to be a world series player and win ~ 80% of my games. Now, I feel I'd be lucky to win 50%. I do play the Battle Royale programs. I focus on the missions and don't care if I win or lose which makes it easier.

@chucky97____PSN If I played online, I'd lose my mind. It just proves there is something for everyone in this game. I could list all the reasons not to play online but those are my reasons and don't apply to anyone else.

Have fun and enjoy the game, the best you can.

Just curious, what do you get out of only playing offline?

I just enjoy the experience more. Many reasons have been stated here already.

I can pause without annoying my opponent.
The CPU won't quit mid homerun.
The CPU won't quit when losing
The CPU won't use bunt cheese
The CPU won't use R2 spam.
The CPU won't disconnect their controller and try to see if I will accept the quit message.

As an old man at this point I have just never felt the need to compete against or compare myself to other gamers. It is probably also why I don't care about trophies or achievements.

But if I am a casual player who doesn't play online does it matter how fast I earn XP? Since you are never going to see my team.

Unless I am mistaken. people who play H2H exclusively do complete programs faster as they have access to missions that I don't.

And as far as I know, I've never complained about that. The only complaint I have is with cards that are exclusive to online, like the Yelich card. There should be a path for offline only people to get there, even if it means more grinding.

Is it just time preference or anxiety to play online against others, whatevr it is, I strongly encourage offline players to play the BR program, it helps with TA's and you also unlock several diamonds on the way up. I went from 233 cards friday, to 274 cards collected in one weekend.

I don't like the 'win at any cost' some players display. My first Event game was against someone that had a Ranked record of 125 and 15, or so, and sported a 20x Flawless banner.

Naturally they picked Shippet and proceeded to throw low in the zone, practically in the dirt, u til they realized I would swing. Then the FIRST thing they did , when they were up to AB, was hold R2. The did that after EVERY pitch. Then one they got someone on base, not only did they hold R2, they took an extra step. Knowing that I could only step off twice, without getting a penalty, it was a combo of RS spamming and taking extra steps. After they did this for the third consecutive batter, to load the bases, I purposely hung a curve, and dashboarded before the hr even left their bat.

I don't have time to play children.

@nflman2033 Because, and this is my opinion grinding against the CPU on rookie, doing the bare min. shouldnt net you as much progress as someone that goes out and grinds online against others. It's hard at times online then just loading up and slugging away on rookie.

@X-FREEZE-OFF-X so you let someone get under your skin in a video game and then dash boarded causing you more time to reload? And are they supposed to throw it down the middle? I hate snore pitching as much as the next guy

@chucky97___ Yes. However. If you make a storyline, you need to actually do work. You should be able to play as Derek Jeter in a road to the show or BETTER mode.
I always say SDS isn't a game developer as much as marketers making a baseball simulator.
A game dev would make a POV Derek Jeter story mode with character upgrades and progression just like your standard video game. You walk around as Jeter. You run into other legends in the game and interact with them with missions or quests.
Shoot all they really need to do is make moments more in depth. They don't have to be a grind just make them more entertaining, harder, rewarding. They could DRASTICALLY improve RTTS this way it's wild they haven't taken all this money and done that already. Maybe Shohei's interpretor got SDS owner into some trouble.....
