My teenage daughter loves baseball. We watch Yankees games together & go see our local minor league team as much as we can. She hasn’t expressed any interest in The Show yet as she prefers playing mobile games with her friends. But if she did ask if she could play The Show, I would only let her play Franchise.

Being completely honest - I think because of all the gambling elements involved in DD there should be the same age limits as entering a Casino or buying lottery tickets, So 21…I think it’s extremely reckless & dangerous to get kids hooked on games that heavily involve gambling in relation to having in game success.

Curious to see how others feel about this topic.

I mean, it's a toss up for me. I understand what you mean by the "gambling" aspect, she probably won't know anything about the game online, teach her some of the things you want her to know, and she should be good. Just give her a big warning not to buy anything without your consent.

We did the face scan and made a RTTS for my daughter the other day. She’s 12 going on 13 and I think it’s a great intro to the game, plus the female character storyline for RTTS is pretty well done 🙂

We grinded her up to a diamond and got her called up to the Twins in one season!

I don't view it as gambling personally. I look at it it more as learning how to invest properly and manage money. So many kids don't get that education. This is a great way to introduce those topics in a fun way.

My son started playing DD late last year with me. He is 6 and since starting has learned a ton about baseball. His favorite player is Acuna followed closely by Betts and Ohtani. Although he watches them on TV he learned more from playing the game. As others have pointed out I’ve told him not to purchase or sell anything in game. So he leaves that part up to me. My only wish was that the CPU pitched easier on Rookie as he learns the game. As it stands now he can do okay vs CPU using classic pitching and timing hitting. People forget how steep the learning curve on this game is for new players and not everyone playing is a streamer or plays all day every day. Bottom line I highly suggest getting your kids involved but don’t let them spend money and make it as easy on them as possible so they don’t immediately quit.

@chucky97___ to me, everyone who complains about “pack luck” sounds like a gambling addict.

Set the rule that she can't purchase stubs. If she does, uninstall the game. Not that hard. Sometimes parents gotta parent.

I be really glad we did it, and I think you’ll have equally as good a time 🙂

If you’re not a RTTS guy, you can buy Diamond Perks of of the market for like 1k each to get a little boost to start 🙂

You can get through Diamond Dynasty without ever buying a pack. You can play through the game, earning stubs, and spend those stubs to purchase a specific card on the market. Same as any game with a in-game monetary system.
So if you go into it with the right attitude and treat all the free packs as a bonus, it seems fine.

And to the guy calling this satire, pay to win videogames use the exact same psychology as casino games. Read some articles about it. They list pack odds to avoid regulation, not because they want to be open & honest with players.

Look at it as an alternative lesson:

She is going to be bad initially. Everyone is. Buying packs, or stubs for cards, won't actually help her get better. Some things in life money wont solve, and sucking at MLBtS is definitely one of those things

@IrishFist412 Honestly that is an awesome take … I personally would not have thought about it playing the game … BUT It would carefully watch out, if my kid would watch some content creators. I honestly do not like „influencing people“ promoting betting systems, which most of them do

At some point you should teach her about those things and the dangers of it or she will be at the mercy of the world to teach her it.
This seems to me like a safer way to do that compared to alternatives but that is for you to decide.

Opening packs on MLB the show is no different from opening a pack of Topps from the local card shop. You can get a bunch of nobodies. You can pull Mike trout 1 of 1.
