I understand the packs. Sony gaming in the US just laid off 1000 employees over the whole company. I wonder how many people at SDS were let go. If they need to make more to stay sustainable, I get it.
Its obvious that SDS is struggling. Increased demands from publishers (XBox and Switch availability in particular) have led to a product that has had a lot of bugs that just shouldnt have happened, and a hilariously bad patch experience
That explains the limited changes to last years version as well. They need more revenue, and I can appreciate that.
However, I find it hard to believe the content they are skimping on requires a lot of manpower to create. Topps even provides the card art already for the program they have just gutted. So less content plus more packs is not a good formula.
I feel if they made a 7.99 monthly add on that gave a pack a day, ballin packs on the weekends, and a choice pack on the last day and reverted content back to last year's pace (even the amount of shop cards, which was high but not unreaosnable I feel) they would make more money.

@blitz77tw The XP thing really gets to me and the way SDS has always been when they could fix something is penalize everyone. They want people to buy stubs, but they allow manipulation of the marketplace with stub transfers year after year. There is no other sucessful game this studio has released or will release besides this one.

Here is the best part,
the TN version of Ohtani is a DH, but has 61 vision and still doesn't qualify for the Buxton boost. -
Sds's main focus is to deliver a successful and fun product for customers to want to buy and play, period.
My question to everyone is this. Are you enjoying the game? And would you recommend friends to buy it?
Even with everything bad with the game, at the end of the day, I still play it. Why? Bc I love baseball.
If I choose to speak my mind, I have that right. I dropped a Benjamin to play this game. I want nothing more than for this game to be great. Just like most people here that also choose to speak their mind. -
I mean, yea there's things missing. we also have a million free cards with TA and that will continue to grow. I'm gonna give it time and just compete the best that I can with whatever I can achieve.

Well there atleast can't be more things for them to cut....I remember the silver to gold exchange to make stubs....geesh those were the days

Did the Moments, bought the cheaper Topps Now card, and 3 CPU games is all it took to finish the new program. I already own the Live Series Trout and Ohtani, so the program meant nothing really. I don’t care for where this trend is headed this season. I have to say, it’s sad to see the Show’s run of years ending like this. I stopped playing Madden and 2K a while ago because of the pack stuff and company attitudes. Hate it will be that way for MLB too. I was on the fence this year about buying the game but the talk started about there at least being some animation changes for 24. It’s the same game, less content, but now more expensive to play. I’ve spent literally thousands of dollars over the years on The Show, but this will be the end of the line this year for me. If I play after 24, it will be strictly Game Pass with no money spent. I think they’ve chosen this path now, and it isn’t likely to change this year. This is apparently the test year to see what the boundaries the players will accept. One year is all it takes to ruin good faith.

I hear you about the TN. This drop was just opening day. I believe last year, and the years prior, had that lumped in with the first full week of TN cards. I think we'll find out more next week. Plus, with the exception of the Monthly awards, the TN card weren't really useable. I already put that Garret Crochet card in my rotation, and he's tied for highest SP ovr with John Donaldson and Tom Seaver. Not a bad card. It's still early, but the TN program doesn't seem like an L.

And they have streamers, streaming their game, publicize second hand stub sites. And then if you purchase stubs from said site, you get banned, but yet thst streamer is still playing the game.

Maybe people have a problem because instead of being able to use the cards people want to use. That normally they might be able to get in a program or maybe that pack was in a program. Now they have to pay to use the card they want to use. There isn’t a single card in my lineup that I would actually like to play with. However I do use the cards because I’m not spending money on packs That Oneill Cruz, Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes, Yamamoto, Jackson Holliday, and Paul Skenes. I would like to have some of those cards on my team but I can’t because they’re in a pack. Even if they put one of those packs In the program I would feel like at least I had a shot at getting one of those cards, but since they’re not including the packs for those cards in the program. My only option is to buy a pack and gamble.

I totally understand that but it's no reason to think that it's ALL behind a paywall because it isn't. I haven't bought any packs , I started with the standard edition of the game with zero stubs and just play my way through and sell all the duplicates of the cards that I get. So far I got upto 38k stubs but spent some on 3 of the cards that came out today. Basically what I'm saying is just buy whatever cards you want to use don't bother with buying packs

The issue is this isn’t how it used to be and that’s why it made most players favorite game to play it was different than other modes and games

@UnsaferRainbows
Seems like the first time. Way too many packs already this year
Player of the month was a free grind last year. Turning it into packs is just pure greed

I still have a little hope that the actual lightning cards will be freely earned based on the wording of the collection.
Collect Season Awards program players each week to earn Lightning Season Awards players coming after Drop 4 and Drop 8.
Notice it says "program players" And the only card available to currently collect, from what I can see on the website, is the Garrett Crochet card which is part of the free program. The cards from the pack apparently don't count (that still doesn't mean that I am happy that they are in a pack).

I wish the Trout card had 59 vision instead of 60. You can’t tell me they didn’t do that on purpose.
