@halcyonfrost What was different about RTTS in 17?

@NTG414 I'm sorry but NBA 2K is absolutely not what RTTS needs. That game mode is riddled with micro transactions and caters to online gamers. Just like MLB the show does right now with DD. We need more control and creativity with RTTS. Not more restrictions imposed like NBA 2K did. They can add a story if they like (although that also seems like a bad idea because you generally want the players to create their own story in career mode) but largely they need to get rid of archetypes and give some more control and creativity to the players in how they want to create their player and control their career. Start by going back to where RTTS was in the show 17 (the last good RTTS in my opinion)
That would make it so all stats easily get maxed out and makes RTTS players irrelevant after the first couple of seasons...again. If that's what you want, go to franchise, Create a player and add him to your roster. Then lock that player for the games. DD is the most popular part of MLBTS now. Since you can now use your CAPs in DD it utilizes one mode for another. MTO is Utilized by both DD and Franchise. Franchise is itself utilized by DD. Not making a mode useful to a majority of players--when it can be done in another mode--would degrade the mode to irrelevancy.
If you love 17 RTTS, awesome, you can still play it. It was all offline then anyway. Wasn't perfect and needed tweaks, but I think the best year of RTTS was 21. People complained about not having the perk tech tree to use, while also not being able to save 10 different versions of the same player. That was all simply because people didn't give the new system a chance. Do you use any of the old perks outside of Showdowns? Give me +4 power, arm strength, and batting clutch over ambiguous traits like, "hits better at home." I know, I'm weird. I also look at the tomatoes before I buy them.

You didn't have the ability to use your CAP in DD until 21. Before that you could increase all of your stats to 99. There were a couple of cool aspects like the prospect game to boost your draft. It didn't really do much, but was a nice concept. You usually got drafted by one of three teams no matter what you did. For me, it got very boring, very quickly. Go to any Game stop and you can buy a copy for $2.

Did you play back when you could “feed” your unwanted DD cards into your created player? Those days it was crazy how insanely good your created player got.

No I didn't. It's amazing how easily OP those CAPs could get.

I swear every game the opponents created player was their catcher and they were some clown looking doofus with maxed out ratings across the board.

Since the first female is in DD, would it be possible to create a female two way player? Would be a cool addition if anything else.

I agree. Two way females are the best!

@AllRise99 The best part about 17 was that you got skill points to increase your attributes. You had more freedom in upgrading your player as opposed to waiting on randomly generated training sessions every week hoping the skill you want to increase will show up. There were also more interactions with the manager and agent and you could make your player however you like. No restrictions.
-
@halcyonfrost I agree with you. It was all about having options to create a player the way you wanted. You even had the option of going to college to earn skill points instead of being drafted right out of high school. On a purely cosmetic point, the clubhouse scenes would change to show different viewpoints and weren't static. A small thing, but I liked seeing the clubhouse from different angles.

@broken_toy1_PSN I hate DDS!!! Never play it. I agree that most of the diehards of the show probably play the competitive Online DDS type stuff in the game, but I bet you if you looked at the bride number of people that want to play a baseball game probably most of those people are playing RTS or franchise. I can guarantee you that. I mean not to be rude or anything, but the only people that care about player cards and the diamond, dynasty and trading and all that [censored] or baseball nerds nobody else gives a [censored] about any of that

Some of the changes that I believe would make RTTS fun again are the following:
The grind is good but make it more productive. For example, while in HS, start with basic equipment (gloves, bats, cleats etc). Start building your skillset points, but be able to use them where you want.
When you move to College, be able to acquire upgraded equipment including aluminum bats and better skillsets.
Still have your Showcase, but bring your improved skillsets and equipment to use in it.
When you move to AA, be able to acquire bronze equipment etc. When you make AAA, your equipment that you earn should be gold.Once you make the MLB, all equipment acquired or earned should be diamond. I think this would make the grind worth it because you are improving in abilities and equipment with every stage of growth.
I find it is boring when you get to the MLB because there is nothing to gain. The XP growth slows, the ability progress slows, the equipment gained is weak (often basic), your personal milestones are often ignored and barely celebrated. When you retire and qualify for the HOF, there is no HOF induction or celebration.
Speaking of celebrations, please add a ticker tape parade through your city if you win a World Series. The whole celebrating with a team picture is old and boring.
Also I believe there should be better agents for you that actually work FOR you, and as you get better contracts, you should be able to purchase nice homes and other things that come with fortune.
In addition it would be nice to have some type of story line with cutscenes that involves you making choices that affect your life and career. Have dialog with players, friends, family, neighbors etc.
I believe these additions would help make RTTS the BEST feature in the game and people would want to repeat their play of it because it would be fun yet challenging.
One more thing, Be able to use your created player in any new RTTS career you start, if you desire.
Companion App never worked for me for MLB The Show 24, Soooo each time I have had to recreate my player whenever I wanted to start a new RTTS career.
Bring back the "Save Player" option. It was in MLB the Show 23.
Thank you.
