They killed DD.

The Seasons structure ruined DD.
Still can’t have the best version of your favorite theme team til the end of the year. Cards expiring will leave massive holes in your TT lineup/bullpen/rotation even with 4 WC slots.
Still takes away the fun of paralleling cards (imo one of DDs best features) because the cards will just expire.
Keep in mind, SDS loves recycling cards. I can’t wait for a 95 Ovr card one season for them drop a 90 Ovr version the next.
Such a disappointment. They’re willing to ruin their best mode just so you might spend some extra bucks rebuying the same players every 12 weeks.
4 WC slots are great, but when the cards only last 1 season, instead of 2, it’s pretty much a wash.
I’ll be sticking to 23. Haven’t even touched it since July so at least I have a lot to unlock and I can actually use all of the cards in the game now.
-
I actually don't get why people want to use the same cards over and over again all year. Doesn't it get boring? The seasons will last so long.
-
@virusts It is a) this (nobody used a whole lineup a whole year before 23, not even all-P5 and now they wanna do it) and b) that really nobody gets the big difference from last to this year (at least on paper)
-
@YOSHI24 not a whole lineup. But not being able to use all of the cards in the game will leave big holes in a TT lineup. I like using a full TT and so do others. I’m glad these seasons don’t affect how you like to enjoy DD, but for me, it’s a completely unnecessary thing they added to DD in 23 that ruined the way I like to play.
Not to mention it’s basically the same gameplay and PS4 graphics. There’s really no reason to buy 24 for a lot of people, but a lot probably still will and be burned out by it by June again.
-
@virusts I can only speak for myself but I like playing with certain players. Example…Tony Gwynn is my favorite player of all time. He’s my right fielder, I don’t want anyone else…I know - “Then use a WC spot on him”…Ok but after the 4 spots are used I’m still going to be forced to not use certain players I like.
Basically you are able to play the way you want but I’m not able to play the way I want. And that’s not ok.
-
If they are really going to progress the cards throughout the season, and not downgrade my favorite players; AND give us 4 wildcard spots, then I think I'm good.
It annoyed me that the best version of Posada and others came out first, and I couldn't use them after season 2 until Season 6. But if that Posada card is only going to improve as the seasons come out, then I'm good. I can't imagine there be more than 4 lower rated cards, or early high level cards, I'll need to hold onto throughout the season

As shown in EA UltimateTeam, a scary large amount of people don't actually care about fun or even playing fair— just winning.
This is not to discredit winning— it is the most important objective. But, there are thousands of players OK paying hundreds of dollars to run meta squads & spam exploits or the same two cheese plays over and over again. Those 10 seconds after making their opponent quit or watching the victory scene is the only joy they get out of gaming (and maybe life).
It says alot about why this industry is in the shape it's in.

@genopolanco_PSN @IrishFist412_XBL Thanks for the input … TT and Tony Gwynn (as an example I like to use Rickey) are valid options I understand. You still could use Tony though on your first wild card. As for the theme teams: No, not through the whole season … but again here: What did you do in 21/22 in say … May? Did you play with silvers/bronzes?
The graphics did not make a jump from 21 to 22 either, that cannot be the whole thing.

I do not understand how anyone can be ok with "expiring cards". If you do not want to use a particular card in your personal deck, then don't. Some gamers like having access to their entire deck (that they earned or purchased) throughout the annual cycle of the game. The cards should expire, when the stubs do.
There is no consumer upside to this format, so why defend it? If you don't like the dinner you bought, then don't eat it...but don't be ok with someone taking the food off of your neighbor's plate.

This was my problem. It felt like they front loaded way to many legends. I felt like my Cardinals Theme team peaked in Season 2.
For the Cardinals we got 99s of Bob Gibson, Jim Edmonds and Ozzie Smith in set 1 (also Jordan Walker). So, for seasons 3, 4, 5 I needed to use lesser versions of those players.
99 Stan Musial (and Lars Nootbaar) was released in Season 2 meaning that I had to use lesser versions of them in seasons 4 and 5.
Nobody wants to feel like their theme team gets weaker as the year progresses.

Way it sounds like, there will be no more theme teams like before at least with team Captains. One of the few things i actually liked from 23

You do not like the dinner that is presented to you. If you don‘t like it, do not eat it … simple as that.
I have to be okay with expiring cards for seasons to work on a repeatable basis going via power creep. That is the biggest thing in DD and now you can have it kinda 3 times. I like that and I do not have to feel bad about it. If they did not do then the whole concept would not work. You gotta accept change sometimes …
I gotta ask that question: You did get that it only restricts from ranked, right?

@YOSHI24
Not being able to use all of the cards your earned/purchased in RS, is the reason why I do not like expiring cards. I understand that offline users are not be affected as much by this format, which is why some of the (offline only) Community does not mind it as much. However, a lot of users build their teams for the ultimate goal of competing in online H2H, with the cards that they earned/purchased throughout the entire game cycle. As for your "do not eat it" statement, you missed the point. Users like me, who purchase this game every year, enjoy this game and want to see it succeed. Good businesses welcome consumer constructive criticism, because ultimately, it helps thier business. Whether it is on this forum, or in their surveys, offering my opinion as a consumer is my privilege and responsibility, of doing my little part in trying to help this game be successful going forward.

Content for season 3 appears it will be pretty dry then.

@xElRojo44x Now it is kinda unfair if I use your sentence against you … To the feedback-thing: you‘re not the only guy giving feedback … Feedback also includes proposals to make it better. I did not see that … Other than that: Do you think, that SDS does not care if they succeed? Do you think they do not care about major feedback? Well … I am outta this one. I do not like to baseless complaints with no proposals … that happen all the time if one thing is not the way one likes it to be. Try to adapt … and give feedback based on this.
Last one: I still do not get, how you built your teams in say 21/22 and used it „the whole year“. You took collection rewards and built up on the power creep. No one (except for the TT-guys) used 93 cards in september (and you did not get better ones early on besides collections).
Now you had 99s at the beginning, complained all-the-time … and … you like to have power creep with all-99 but with no sets&seasons. Well, that won‘t work.go ahead with this … I am done
-
My biggest issue with this past season was 99's from the start and especially multiple 99's of the same players. With the Power Creep back, that should not be an issue. If you are still using 88-91's after 12 weeks, i'd be surprised and if you do grab a few of the available 99's through collections, you'll still be able to slide 4 of them into the WC slots. I think they've made a huge improvement on the disaster that was the Show 23, and there would be no way i'd want to keep playing it for another year......onto to 24!
