"It would be great to be able to start our career in any year we want and play with former players and old stadiums like in OOTP. I don't understand why we don't have that option yet."

Likeness Rights is probably the reason.

There is a reason Out of The Park does not include actual playing cards for their legends. Even in their Perfect team mode all of the retired players are given generic cards with no pictures.

SDS could go that same route but judging by what I have seen very few MLB The Show players would be content with generic player models and faces for their favorite historical players

Wasn’t it Earl Weaver baseball back in the day where you could play with literally anyone. I distinctly remember playing with Babe Ruth and Josh Gibson batting 3 and 4 and had Cool Papa Bell batting lead off but that’s all I can remember….of course the only physical likeness similarities was skin color but they had the attributes down pretty close. Am I thinking of the correct title? Would’ve been prior to 1990 and on PC….there was even a commissioner feature on this particular game.

Ear Weaver Baseball was released in 1987, before Name/Image/Likeness rules existed.

Wish I’d have known about some of those wonderfully named players back then lol

My guess is that even if likeness rights were a thing back then that the graphics were not good enough to actually look like anybody

@Dolenz "It makes sense; I was 18 in 1993, so it would have been fun to start my career in that year."

Let’s not get into the stadiums. Stadiums in that game are not stadiums in this game. Good chance they don’t create new classic stadiums in order to keep the file size to a manageable size which mentioned many times over the years in the streams. I’m almost positive that’s why our created stadium props are so dead and not alive. Probably keeps them smaller to be just a static prop.
