24 Cover Athlete Reveal

like most I had my money on Acuna Jr, but not mad in the slightest that Vladdy Jr got it, especially after that amazing doc they did with him, and Big Papi... makes me wonder if Big Papi or Vladdy Sr. gets the Collection Edition cover when that gets revealed next week.
Another interesting thing I saw in the reveal was Rafael Palmiero (no matter how you feel about his PED involvement) was in one of the clips so he might also be in the game as a new legend

@romeischillin Maybe he's the Collector's Edition athlete?

Def a little concerned that there won't be any significant graphical improvements due to the continued release on last gen, but it's not the end of the world. And now we play the waiting game regarding the features. Woot.
How much more of a graphical improvement do you want? It already runs at the max a PS5 and XBox X can handle (120fps, 120Hz) if you have the right monitor.

@AllRise99 Palmeiro??? I don't think it's him, I feel like it almost has to be Vladdy Sr or Big Papi... if it's anyone else, unless it's a Negro League player (Josh Gibson) or Roberto Clemente, having anyone else on the cover would be a missed opportunity.

I agree. An NL player would be awesome and work great with their extended program to release players over the next few years.

@romeischillin No, Acuna Jr is who I meant. Remember, the MLB 22 Collector's Edition was just the anime Ohtani

Yes, but 21 had Tatis & Robinson and 23 had Chisholm & Jeter. It would be awesome to have an NL player to grace the cover of the deluxe edition for 24.

that was a bit disappointing could have chosen a bigger star
-
@romeischillin The big additions for 23 were McGwire & Sosa. PED's shouldn't hold anyone back from being selected for the MLB TS roster
-
@LuvMyXBOX To be fair, he is one of the biggest in the game right now

I guess it depends on how you define "Star". Vlad Jr may not be the best player but he is a star. I might even guess that, among casual baseball fans, Vlad is more recognizable than Acuna despite Acuna being the better player.
I think of it kind of like Actors. The best actors are rarely the biggest box office stars.

Yep good

@Dolenz It could be more than 25% considering there are 117 million PS4s and 50 million PS5 sold. Same goes for Microsoft. Way more XBox One owners out there then Series X/S by a 2 to 1 margin. 58 million XBox One to 21 million XBox Series X/S.
I happened to reference these numbers on Facebook last weekend.

I thought someone said was only gonna be on current gen hardware? It will be available on PS4 and XBONE as well.
Who said that? Nobody official that I know of.
People speculate that it will be the last for the old consoles every single year. They probably won't leave those consoles behind until the % of players playing on those consoles dips down to a relatively small number. If 25% of players are still on older consoles that is still a significant amount of sales and stubs revenue.
Also, it may not be SDS' choice. It could be that Sony or MLB is mandating that they continue to support it.
A lot of people were saying here. Somebody made it sound like it was official, lol. Guess not.

I just pulled a percentage out of the air. I knew it was still large but did not want to overestimate it.
Thanks for the info. Makes even more sense now. Can't see many companies saying let's eliminate 171 million potential customers to make the 71 million potential customers happy.

@Dolenz_PSN I think your spitball guess was great actually. Had I not been discussing console sales with another group on Facebook Saturday I wouldn’t have the figures written on my desk calendar to reference for you. I don’t think the game being on previous gen factors into how it’s made for us on our current gen console. It doesn’t for other games that exist on current and previous. I think what we have is what we would have anyways.
