Any hitting tips?
-
I recently started using Zone for hitting after relying on timing for the past year and a half.
My hitting has definitely improved especially home runs I went from averaging 1 HR every 14-17 at bats to bow averaging 1 ever 6-8 at bats.
Any tips on hitting I might not know about? For example I always start my pci down and in which was great to catch up on nigh heaters but I really struggled against pitches in the dirt. Now when I see alot of low pitches o start my pci high and come down on it. I just find it much easier for some reason.
Any tips ya use? No matter how small I appreciate your feedback I wanna expand my game!!

There's already a ton of YouTube tutorials for batting that will do a better job than anything you get here. Some of the major streamers like littleman, yourfriendkyle or koogs tend to put one out every year. There are plenty of lesser know streamers that put out great guides as well. OhChev and CJ12k do good work. There's plenty more with quality guides. My suggestion is watch a couple and see what works for you

Change the settings of your PCI to Free and before each pitch you can lock it in by pushing L3 on Xbox (I think it's the same for PS... Push in the left stick to set your PCI) I agree that starting up in the zone and then coming down seems easier.
Also, focus on the bill of the hat of the pitcher. Most pitchers, unless they're a submariner will release it right at the bill of their hat. Start watching that and in no time you'll be able to identify trajectory and pitch types at the earliest possible moment. These tips completely amped my hitting game. Hope they do the same for you.

The tip is. Sounds easy. Don’t slam.
I don’t know how the really good plays move the pci so little and react to a fastball on LEGEND so well. I mean little man seems to mercy most people on legend. It’s insane.

For my case it was the disabling of the pci on screen that did it for me. I would hyper focus on trying to get it perfect every time and when the target would shrink I could do nothing at all because it was all in my head. The mechanic is still functioning and you can see how you did after each pitch from the feedback box it was just the act of removing it from the screen that allowed me to focus more on the release point instead of the pci. That worked for me but everyone has their own method that works better for them. Regardless of how you go about it I wish you luck and success

I watch a lot of hitting stuff on YouTube and out of all the content creators, the one who helped me a lot was actually @CBrev47_MLBTS. Hands down.
Yfk, littleman and the others just seem to do the “one” video a year on how to hit etc., but cbrev goes in depth and walks you through it.

This is exactly how I hit. No visual PCI however its still there in the background.

The PCI can be a distraction for me at times also. However for some weird reason, I "lose the strikezone" at times. Therefore I need to have the PCI on, as the bat/dot helps to get my focus and strikezone perspective back.

- Watch the ball out of the pitchers hand, you can start to pick up break and speed
- Use camera angles that are closer to the ball (usually some version of strike zone) Everyone is different on this, but for most people, it is easier to hit the ball, the closer you are to the pitcher
- Use whatever PCI works best for you, but I have always been under the impression, aim small miss small. If you use the middle or inner, I have noticed more success... But everyone is different
- Practice. You see the same pitchers a lot, so why not go into the practice mode and test yourself against those pitches.
- This is not full proof, but swinging Earlier seems to have better results than swinging later. Try to get in the habit of speeding up your bat if you feel like you are behind.

Can you explain this in detail? Is it dependant on having a 4K TV or monitor? I just upgraded to PS5 and honestly the bill of the hat of the pitcher is pretty much just a blur.(I'm still on a 1080p TV) What should I be looking for?

@wdc1961 While playing, just go into replay and watch what I'm talking about. If you're looking anywhere close to the bill of the hat, it will become easier and easier to pickup the pitch right away. To the point where you'll start to notice TINY differences in animations for different pitchers. For example when Shohei throws a slider, the ball comes out in an upward trajectory.

I set the PCI to fade out it helps
