Any hitting tips?

Change the settings of your PCI to Free and before each pitch you can lock it in by pushing L3 on Xbox (I think it's the same for PS... Push in the left stick to set your PCI) I agree that starting up in the zone and then coming down seems easier.
Also, focus on the bill of the hat of the pitcher. Most pitchers, unless they're a submariner will release it right at the bill of their hat. Start watching that and in no time you'll be able to identify trajectory and pitch types at the earliest possible moment. These tips completely amped my hitting game. Hope they do the same for you.

The tip is. Sounds easy. Don’t slam.
I don’t know how the really good plays move the pci so little and react to a fastball on LEGEND so well. I mean little man seems to mercy most people on legend. It’s insane.

For my case it was the disabling of the pci on screen that did it for me. I would hyper focus on trying to get it perfect every time and when the target would shrink I could do nothing at all because it was all in my head. The mechanic is still functioning and you can see how you did after each pitch from the feedback box it was just the act of removing it from the screen that allowed me to focus more on the release point instead of the pci. That worked for me but everyone has their own method that works better for them. Regardless of how you go about it I wish you luck and success

I watch a lot of hitting stuff on YouTube and out of all the content creators, the one who helped me a lot was actually @CBrev47_MLBTS. Hands down.
Yfk, littleman and the others just seem to do the “one” video a year on how to hit etc., but cbrev goes in depth and walks you through it.

This is exactly how I hit. No visual PCI however its still there in the background.

The PCI can be a distraction for me at times also. However for some weird reason, I "lose the strikezone" at times. Therefore I need to have the PCI on, as the bat/dot helps to get my focus and strikezone perspective back.
-
- Watch the ball out of the pitchers hand, you can start to pick up break and speed
- Use camera angles that are closer to the ball (usually some version of strike zone) Everyone is different on this, but for most people, it is easier to hit the ball, the closer you are to the pitcher
- Use whatever PCI works best for you, but I have always been under the impression, aim small miss small. If you use the middle or inner, I have noticed more success... But everyone is different
- Practice. You see the same pitchers a lot, so why not go into the practice mode and test yourself against those pitches.
- This is not full proof, but swinging Earlier seems to have better results than swinging later. Try to get in the habit of speeding up your bat if you feel like you are behind.

Can you explain this in detail? Is it dependant on having a 4K TV or monitor? I just upgraded to PS5 and honestly the bill of the hat of the pitcher is pretty much just a blur.(I'm still on a 1080p TV) What should I be looking for?
-
@wdc1961 While playing, just go into replay and watch what I'm talking about. If you're looking anywhere close to the bill of the hat, it will become easier and easier to pickup the pitch right away. To the point where you'll start to notice TINY differences in animations for different pitchers. For example when Shohei throws a slider, the ball comes out in an upward trajectory.

I set the PCI to fade out it helps
-
• establish the most comfortable spot you want the PCI( middle, high and in, low and in etc) different strokes for different folks
• be aware of the pitcher's fastest and slowest pitch
• don't be afraid to take "pitchers strikes" until you get 2 strikes
• early in the count only swing at pitch that take a fat part of the plate
• keep your hands relaxed for short, quick movements within strike zone. The better the velocity , the more you relax.
• eyeball the pitchers face/hat and pick the pitch up as soon as possible out of the pitcher's hand so you can gage the speed, break and trajectory.
• don't try to stare the ball down as it approaches the plate. This usually results in a late swing. Assess the location as you see the speed and trajectory out of the pitchers hand.
• allow the pitch to get slightly deeper with two strikes. Think more opposite field approach. With this in mind , you still must be able to turn on an inside pitch.
• know the pitcher's "wipe out" two strike pitches. (Ie high and inside fastball, slider away, change up down, curveball in the dirt, cutter up and away, sinker low and in to name a few)
• go into practice mode and work on tracking various pitches so you can get a feel for the timing
• I prefer the pci to fade away late so I can get a clear picture of the pitchers delivery.
• do not use the ambush feature unless it's the first pitch or an advantage count
• this game punishes a lack of patience. Do all you can to get a good pitch to hit until you get two strikes
• understand, at the higher levels there will be times the pitcher will dominate certain at bats. There will be times he'll throw a pitch that never looks like a strike and you'll take it for strike three. Don't sweat it! Calmly got to the next hitter.
• with 2 quick strikes step out and regroup
Before the next pitch• hitting the computer is different that face a human opponent. I find people are much more predictable and the CPu more random. Take a mental note of every pitch an opponent gets you out on because he's eventually coming back to it. Also, pitch speeds are faster on line.
• be willing to change the position of your PCI if your opponent thinks he has a bead on your weak spots. I find it easier to start high in the zone and work down then visa versa.
At the end of the day you're one hell of hitter if you can get 3 hits in 10 at bats. There's a lot of failure involved. The key is do maximum damage when the opportunity presents itself. Many times it's going to require a waiting out process to accomplish this.

@BxnnyMxn__PSN this was going to my tip as well. PCI is there before the pitch but then it goes away. Having it is just distracting and it all happens so quickly that having the PCI visible the whole time isn’t something you can use to your benefit, at least for me.
My other tip is to use a kontrol freaks ring to prevent me from slamming too far. It’s brutal to field with it, but I just use 2 controllers and switch between them every half inning. Not a pain once you get used to it and it’s worth it for me. Plus I have sweaty hands so it’s nice to grab a fresh controller every few minutes… -
@wdc1961_MLBTS the unfortunate reality is if you’re playing on a normal TV, you’re done. I just got a Samsung S90D that’s allegedly one of the best gaming TV’s and it is a night and day difference. I couldn’t do anything on my old TV. But most of my gaming happens on a projector outside, which has lag similar to most gaming monitors, so that works well. The number one hitting tip unfortunately starts with your technology.
-
I agree , I believe a gaming monitor is helpful. I have a Dell 34 inch monitor and it provides minimal lag and great aesthetics. For me, control freaks are a must. I also use a dual sense controller with paddles on the bottom so I don't have to push buttons. I know a lot of people can't afford these things but I need every advantage I can get.

@tear4eddy_PSN I just got an s90d as well. I'm seeing a wierd thing where some pitches seem to screen tear or maybe look really choppy coming in. Do you enable Samsung's game motion plus?
