Terrible Swings on Great Power Hitters

Yeah I’m actually much better with the young A’s Big Mac. Cards juiced up Big Mac is a huge letdown especially considering the Great Race of 98 grind required to get him.

I must totally agree. And I (for the first time actually decided to collect the players and obtain Sosa. So glad I did him (Sosa) first, now I know NOT to waist time or spend money on stubs to unlock Mark.
I was wondering if this McGwire card sucked in comparison to the way the Sosa card sucks when compared to his LS reward card. I’ve had magical success with the 49 Homer McGwire card….once i switched my batting camera angle, that is. I’m about 20pts or so away from obtaining this card but if it’s truly crappy then I’ll just obtain it when i obtain it lol.
This is part of my impetus for my question in another thread regarding a ‘Finest’ collection because I’ve heard whisperings here and there that there might be a more solid Big Mac card getting released towards the end of all these fodder programs - I truly hope so as that’s the card I’ve wanted since day one this season when I saw they had him in the game. I’ve always loved McGwire - the steroid aspect changes zero for me. Athletes have always done whatever they could to give themselves whatever edge they could in order to stay at their best. I’ll never begrudge anyone for that. Anyone who thinks Barry Bonds wasn’t the greatest hitter of all time simply wasn’t alive to watch his career and hadn’t considered his pedigree….I mean this is the son of Bobby Bonds! The godson of the Say Hey Kid….easily and hands down the greatest ball player of all times! You think he might’ve imparted a little nugget of wisdom or two along the way? Lol I sure as shinola believe so!
….sorry - not sure why I went off on that little diatribe but I’ll stand behind it haha
I love the way you think. Bonds was the Best clear or no clear....flak seed oil or not. There is nothing you can swallow or inject to give you hand/eye coordination and put the barrel on the ball like he could.

Indeed! He had become so wise…his baseball IQ was off the scales from his lifetime of being groomed by the legends of the game…were talking Negro League legends and MLB HOF’ers surrounding him his entire life! He was an elite talent that had all the tools in the world except the ability to make people like him. There at the end of his career he was getting about one good hittable pitch every third game and he was always ready to pounce when it came….just think about how impressive that is! We can’t even manage this in a stinking vidya game! Haha

I would settle for Reggie Stocker at this point.

Bonds was on another level. 125s across the board for hitting stats wouldn’t do him justice circa early 2000s.

Amen! Think about his Vision rating lol….or his plate discipline! All would have to be 150 on a scale of 125

I agree with you to a point. I've found that I excel with players others call garbage and can't hit with cards others call great. The 99 Corbin Carroll rakes for me, but some have complained about his swing. At the same time, Mickey Mantle has never been anything other than alright. Sometimes we just have a different feel with different players.
-
Totally get it. Bonds would be like Griffey with a lightning quick swing.

That McGwire is better for me power wise than the Great Race of 98 McGwire.

His stance is in the game. You can try it out on a created player. It’s Legend Stance 7.

Bonds was my CAP in 2016. Then I went to Stevie Ray Vaughan switch hitter because my team name is Texas Flood (His first album) I didn't do one this year because they screwed up making a CAP the last two years in my opinion.

Guys I’ve played fast and loose with my upvotes lately so I can’t hand out the love like I’d like to but just know I’m feeling all y’all!
We had better be careful….we’re in danger of having a conversation about baseball here! Something this forum has been sorely lacking in the last little bit i hate to admit…

I agree with you Bunny. I even thought about filling out the new survey but figured how many times can I tell them I don’t like the game this year. I’d rather talk baseball with y’all

Amen to you @TEXAS10PT_PSN I’m listening to the Rangers broadcast again to try and keep my jinx on. Soon as I turned it on I hear Altuve rip a change up fora 2 bagger off Heaney. Great start! How about Dubon this post season!?

Man the Astros are scary on the road and Phillies are scary at home. Even if it’s a repeat World Series from last year it would be crazy again this year.

You said it man! How truly incredible would it be? The ‘Stros opened up a quick can already let’s see if they can hold onto it

I agree with you sir if Griffey hadn’t been plagued by injuries later in his career. He was still a GREAT player and deserves being in the HOF. IMO though he is not in the same conversation with Bonds. Bonds was that good.

Coincidence that they’re righties and SDS motion capture guy is a lefty??
-
Maybe there is something to that. I do feel lefties have the best swings in the game for the most part.

How do people do with switch hitters like Chipper and Mantle? Better as a lefty than righty? Is it possible people do better because there are more right handed pitchers in the game and the game codes it for opposite handed batters to succeed more?
