It’s no secret that the game is slowing down as far as players and gameplay, I personally don’t have the motivation to grind for another set of cards for set 5! With that said SDS could say hey you can keep one card from set 1-4 as wildcards that way you still get fresh lineups and can keep some of your favorites along the way. It’s not too late SDS
How do you know it’s slowing down? I only know how much I play and you only know how much you play.
Not hard to figure out, look at how many people are playing events and making WS ( easy info to obtain). Also, watch the market for sold cards.
This is by far the earliest I have seen the huge part of the player base abandon the game ( happened a couple months ago for most part).
I have always been one of their hardcore players, playing all the way to the new version. I’m just can’t do it. For example, I have booted the game up 3x over the last week and literally stared at it and turned it off. I just don’t enjoy what they have done and can’t bring myself to play.
Show the info you easily obtained. At its peak only ~200 people played this game online on PSN. There are approximately 4 times more PS4 and PS5 consoles on the market than XBox One and XBox X/S so I’m being generous to say there were probably another ~100 playing online for Microsoft. Now you playing it less means you’re playing it less not everyone is playing it less. 🥱
Show your info or go away. You said nothing substantial.
Boy, for a guy who is usually fairly cool, not your best day…
All you have to do is go into the current event records or the current RS season to see player activity.
At its peak, there were well over 100k to 300k people playing the events. This one has 23,000 that have played. Last one was similar.
You can do similar math for RS….
But to your last point, when guys like me who have been on here for years that typically play year round are saying they aren’t really playing ( add in guys like Ibonafidescrub, ARVCPA, Roswell25, and I could go on and on), SDS has made some wrong turns.
Then I stand corrected. Thank you for leading me where I asked. I don’t play events and only played 37 online games. To me these aren’t obvious places to look. That’s all he had to say and I could’ve checked there for the rankings. I assumed I could Google some website for data he deemed obvious.

Everything you say makes sense but why throw in the amazing record if it’s not a complaint. I’m 17-20.
I threw in the record to drive home the point that it isn’t a win/lose thing.
And I am still playing this game. Frequently. I have played DD for a long time. My assessment, arrived at through years of experience: is that the game has gotten progressively more difficult to produce runs. It isn’t a complaint so much as a statement of facts. These are confirmed in SDS’ own comments:
FACT: Pitch speeds have been increased the last several years.
FACT: PCI placement is more important in getting good results.
FACT: PPP pitching has allowed users to better control where the ball goes (not saying it’s a bad thing. Saying it makes hitting more difficult).
I am sure there are more things. I’m just saying: I am playing this game and playing a lot. I am winning more than I lose and, most of the time, I have fun.
People are talking about how fewer people are playing, and offering ideas as to why. I offered my idea as to why, which is not a personal complaint on how I enjoy or don’t enjoy the game.
They made a hard game harder. That’s why I think fewer people are playing. That’s it.
Need anymore evidence DD is a joke besides guys like Crawford being a RP stud check out the 99 Waino DH/1B card.

Fubar2k7 is far from cool on here. He admittedly plays the game all day every day while his girlfriend and best friend work so he thinks that somehow makes him an authority figure on the game or that he can speak for the masses. You don’t need to look far to see the glaring issues people have with the game. Although gameplay has stepped up, a lot of other things have stepped back and it has been echoed countless times by long time players of this game. If you raise a concern that fubar2k7 disagrees with he will tear you down and demand the research to back it up. Chill out dude, it’s a game that others are allowed to voice their opinions and frustrations on. The fact you somehow take it personally just because it makes up such a huge part on your daily life is nobody’s fault but yours. In the end you are no better than anybody else on here so instead of trolling others nonstop just try to see things from others point of view every once in a while.

I admitted I was wrong when I was directed appropriately. Don’t just make a blanket statement and assume everyone is going to buy it. I’ll freely admit when I’m wrong and own it. I was wrong.

I meant we should be able to get a WC from set 1-3 as in 3 total cards, it would make the game more fun! Honestly it’s too much of a grind right now to keep up with the sets

most of us on here have real life which supersedes all gaming - who wants to collect multiple sets - it feels like a kind of battlepass EA sports idea - horrible execution and SDS is just being typical SDS
It’s overwhelming. They should have made the collection rewards Core cards. All the other cards in the TA could be sets, but Babe Ruth, David Wright, Jose Ramirez, etc, should be Core.
i hear ya but on a more important note - how are you brother?!!?! great to see you still on this forum one of the last few left from the ole group !!!

I abandoned the game in July and I have never done that before. I usually play until January. But the format of cards rotating out and having to grind over and over for mostly the same cards with slightly different stats sucks. Also, instead of 50 or so good cards we have hundreds of mediocre cards. Not fun for me. Grinding for 95's and 97's this late in the year does not inspire me to start playing again either.

I am peachy, my friend. Hope you are as well. Not sure how much longer I’ll be around on this game. Too much real life stuff going on. Jan. 2024 will mark a huge, positive change for me professionally, and I just won’t be able to play nearly as much. So little, in fact, it probably wouldn’t even be worth trying to keep up with the DD grind. So this is likely my last hoorah. Let’s get on a party soon, bro.

Maybe next year if they insist on "Sets" they could release the sets as decades or time periods so we don't get all the same guys again and again? Just a random thought

They probably do the same players in order for people to constantly have those players available. If they didn’t do Bob Gibson every set he would only be usable as a Wild Card from set 1.
-
I can't imagine how quickly I would get burnt out if I felt compelled to finish every program and every collection. More power to all of you who do that but it would quickly turn me off. People may scoff at my offline play, or my simple goal to get all of the good Cardinal Players but that lets me be far more relaxed in my efforts. Last weekend I finished the Career and Great Race programs and looking back I realized that they were the first I had completed since the June POTM program. For the Sept POTM I did one moment yesterday to get Jack Flaherty. I don't feel compelled to continue it if I don't want to.
That said, I am still not a huge fan of sets and seasons, at least the way they are currently implemented. I expect we might see some tweaks to formula next year but I don't expect them to go away, unless SDS just decided it was too much work for too little return. But I highly doubt that is an issue since people are obsessed with finishing everything.
-
I don't mind the sets. I do think they need tweaked but I am sure SDS is looking forward to next year. I don't think we need multiple cards of the same players over and over again. I have learned to play (not very well) with a variety of cards as I very seldom have the god cards that other people have and that even when I have the better cards I can get my rear end kicked. I guess that is where I would land. Variety over volume. Maybe one Core card for current players and one top of the line card. Spread them out and go from there.

There are a couple of roadblocks which is why we do get multiple versions.
-
There are just not enough players, current and past, licensed in the game to not have duplicates they are releasing several hundred cards every set.
-
Many people do want to play with their favorite players. As a Cardinals fan that would mean that I would be finished with Bob Gibson, Ozzie Smith, Jim Edmonds, Adam Wainwright and Jordan Walker when set 3 started and their 99 cards expired. I am already not thrilled that I have to do with lesser versions for 4 out of those 5 of those players.

Maybe shorten the "seasons"? If there are, say, 12 Cardinal 99's going to come out for the year, all different players along with various 98's and 97's you could release a couple every season, you might lose a couple for a few weeks but with the lengthened last season you might have them for longer? Just brainstorming

You can’t really shorten the seasons or you’d be on set 10 right now. Maybe you could break the season into halves?
-
You could shorten the season if you made the last season, which you could use all the players, much longer

Shorter seasons could work if it was different sets available and not just current and previous

Kind of mix and match the sets. I like that but man would it get confusing to people who can’t get the way they did it this year.
