I saw this today on mlb. I’ll link the article below it. I just can’t wait to see who ends up making it. Could this be the year for the Mariners? Will it be the Braves who might just end up being the first club ever to slug .500 as a team (think about that) or perhaps a team that’s about to make an epic run heck who knows I just can’t wait to see

I worry too about the Dodgers after seeing Mookie leave out on crutches last night and then who knows what’s about to happen to Urias if what I heard on bb tonight podcast is true.

I’m going to hone in on this Rays vs Mariners series that’ll def be a sneak peek for us at a future matchup in the post season. I really would like to see the Ms make it honestly I mean I’m positive they’ve never won but now that I reflect on it I can’t remember them ever making it to the Series at all.

update looks they are ofer in their three league championship appearances.

I’m now officially pulling for them in the AL this season however I do not like their chances at this time unfortunately lol

Warch the Jays, if they make wildcard they have a shot to be a serious contender. If their bats get going it might be hard to stop them + they are adding to their bullpen with Chad Green coming back.

Mariners have never even been to the world series, when they won 116 in 2001 i thought that might have been there year but then they were knocked out in 5 games by the Yankees. Would love to see them make a run.

It won't happen but my dream world series would be Mariners Vs Cubs with Cubs winning of course

    IF THE SEASON ENDED TODAY

AL Wild Card Series (starts Oct. 3)
Best-of-three format (all games at higher seed)
    Rangers (6) at Twins (3)
Blue Jays (5) at Rays (4)

Orioles (1) and Astros (2) have byes

NL Wild Card Series (Oct. 3)
Best-of-three format (all games at higher seed)
    D-backs (6) at Brewers (3)
    Cubs (5) at Phillies (4)

Braves (1) and Dodgers (2) have byes

AL Division Series (starts Oct. 7)
    Best-of-five format
    Rays/Blue Jays at Orioles
    Twins/Rangers at Astros

NL Division Series (starts Oct. 7)
    Best-of-five format
    Phillies/Cubs at Braves
    Brewers/D-backs at Dodgers

    • The MLB postseason format, explained

    TIEBREAKERS

Since 2022, all ties in the standings -- for a division title or Wild Card spot, or to determine playoff seeding -- have been determined solely by a series of mathematical tiebreakers, rather than on the field. A full breakdown of the current methodology can be seen here, but to summarize, the top three elements are, in order: head-to-head record, intradivision record (i.e. within the same division) and then record against opponents in the same league but a different division..

Here is a look at three examples of how tiebreakers could come into play:

In the AL West race, the Mariners have already clinched a tiebreaker over the Astros by winning eight of the teams' first 10 matchups, with three to go.
After losing the series opener against the Rangers on Monday, the Blue Jays (1-3 vs. Texas) would need to win their next three games against the Texas to claim the tiebreaker in case they finish deadlocked for the last AL Wild Card spot.
The Phillies have locked up tiebreakers with the Reds, Cubs and D-backs, which could come into play for either the final NL Wild Card spot or seeding. Philadelphia does not own the tiebreaker over the Marlins after Miami clinched a season series victory with a win at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday.
    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Who has clinched: The Braves have clinched a postseason berth

Who is next: The Braves (94-50) have a magic number of four to clinch the NL East. The Dodgers (87-56) have a magic number of six to clinch the NL West title. The Orioles (91-52) have a magic number of three to clinch a postseason berth.

    3 key games from yesterday

    Rangers 10, Blue Jays 4
    Brewers 12, Marlins 0
    Braves 10, Phillies 8 (Game 1) / Phillies 7, Braves 5 (Game 2)

    3 key games today

Braves at Phillies, 6:40 PM ET
Rangers at Blue Jays, 7:07 PM ET
Rays at Twins, 7:40 PM ET

    Tight races to watch

AL East: Orioles lead Rays by 3 games

AL West: Astros lead Rangers by 2 games, Mariners by 2 1/2 games

NL Central: Brewers lead Cubs by 3 games

AL Wild Card: Rangers lead Mariners by 1/2 game for third berth

NL Wild Card: D-backs lead Marlins and Giants by 1 1/2 games and the Reds by 2 games for third berth

    Trends of note

Heading up: The Rays have won four straight games after beating the Twins on Monday. Despite the fact that the Orioles have an AL-best 91 wins and the best second-half record (37-17), the Rays remain within striking distance of winning the AL East. The Orioles and Rays have a huge four-game set beginning in Baltimore on Thursday.

Heading down: The Mariners lost the final three games of the series against the Rays and lost the series opener against the Angels on Monday. Seattle has lost seven of its last nine games overall and is currently on the outside looking in at a playoff spot.

    Contender Breakdown

    Clinched postseason berth: Braves

Almost there (90% postseason odds or better): Dodgers, Orioles, Rays, Twins, Astros, Brewers, Phillies

In good shape (50-89% postseason odds): Cubs, Blue Jays, Mariners, Rangers

In the mix (10-49% postseason odds): D-backs, Giants, Marlins, Reds

Still alive (Postseason odds above 0%): Red Sox, Guardians, Yankees, Padres

I don’t think there’s anyone on the Oith that will be able to predict this AL side of the bracket. Maybe no until we have a few days left lol. Three days ago we had the Mariners here now we got the Rangers and it’ll prob flip flop every other day until we get to the wire

I had to double check that the Yanks and RedSox are still technically alive but the odds are incredibly slim for them and I expect the plug to be pulled for them officially any day now. Now they’re battling to see who will get last place. What a division the AL East has been this year and how wild will it be to see if it turns out being the first division where everyone finishes above .500

My only prediction is at least 2 of the teams with a bye round will get bounced due to sitting around and not playing for almost a week.

Houston, Atlanta and LA are normal to see leading a division, Baltimore just looks weird though lol and Miami in a playoff position should scare the other teams, the 2 times the Marlins have made the playoffs it was as a wild card team, they won the world series both times.

Miami made it a 3rd time in 2020, lost in the DS round.
I kinda think that it's the Phillies that are being looked at apprehensively, because of last year.( though the braves and fans are probably both dreading and very excited for it)
