@The_Canuckler said in They really need to do something about the connections:

I mean there’s lots of “excuses”

    Chief among them being

    1. Dedicated matchmaking servers are a huge cost, this is a small studio and not a big player base, people are already mad about the rising amount of paywall cards on this game. Imagine what that will be like if they have to incur a huge expense for dedicated servers.

    2. The connection issues you guys are talking about are becoming this forums crutch for losing games. It used to be “my opponent is using directional hitting” before that was “you paid for your team” now it’s “your connection is causing me to lose” in the countless hours and games I’ve put into this game online since the show 16 only one person has ever messaged me saying I won because of my connection, that was demise. You would think in that amount of game time and years it would be a problem for more people than just demise.

I had 300 losses on my RS record last year. I don't give a [censored] about losses. Sorry, your internet is so [censored] poor you don't see these issues but they are very real and make the game unbearable. Has absolutely nothing to do with losses and more about the incompetent match making system. I used to play this game every day but haven't played since Sunday and probably won't play until maybe Friday. I would rather re-watch a 20 year old TV Show than play someone on wifi in a cave.

More people are coming out because people are finally getting better internet or waking up. Most people in the U.S. have [censored] internet. That is just a fact.

If my connection is so bad why in 7 years of playing this game online has nobody except you when I crushed you said anything about it? I also live much closer to you than someone on the coast lol

Most people can't see differences in connection speeds. Chicago?

Most people can’t see the difference in connection speeds? So guess it must not be that much of a difference if “most people can’t see the difference” crazy how in 7 years and thousands of games it’s only you that’s ever complained, in a game where I you got crushed. Sounds like a crutch.

I use to run multiple Battlefront servers on a home pc 20 years ago with Windows Xp. You’re overstating the cost dramatically. Disappearing balls and micro stutters in an online game that relies on fractions of a second of reaction is unacceptable.

Even the streamers are getting tired of it. There’s a reason that the game was in the top 10 on Xbox thru August last year and it’s like 36th right now.

The multiplayer continues to be ignored despite the fact they want to push the online component. It’s not a good product. If you go on Reddit or twitter a vast majority of the opinions on this forum are in the minority by a large margin. SDS has been ratio’d into the ground. People like me are getting tired of the lack of support, communication and attention to the game.

It’s been how long since a gameplay update again? Ya, that’s what I thought ,but you guys here can keep simping.

Their placement on XBox free to play list doesn’t reflect how big the studio is or how much money the studio brought in. Those users paid $0 for the game genius. If anything being 36 means less of people buying stubs to offset the $0 spent to play the game.

Sony gets paid Money the game is not free and the Xbox users have made SDS a ton of money. It’s a subscription based service and the game has made more money then ever with the deal. In 21 Sony has seen an 18% decrease in gameplay time on their platform but their profits are up 13% because of the deal so that’s a 31% swing they’ve received from making the game available on other platforms.

Not entirely sure your calculations checks out (the 18% is an non-covid year increase, not a decrease), but I fully support the use of math in arguments.

    Carry on.

Ya, obviously I’m an idiot, but the bottom line is Sony has profited massively off the merger so the “free” junk people here throw around is just gaslighting.

I notice those issues too man, especially when I play against people in the DR and PR where internet is not as good as here in North America.

By the way, I say it because I play a custom league full of Dominicans and Puerto Ricans and the difference between someone here NA East region vs someone in their home country is huge in terms of latency and input delay, especially if they are on WiFi.

Same happens in Ranked, majority of the laggy games I play are against DR, PR and Midwest team names. I know name doesn’t mean anything in regards to their location but performance issues could be saying something.

It’s talking about MLB 2021 not MLB 2023 and does a great job pointing out add on sales aka sales of stubs. Also points out 2 other games not just this game. Leaving out some minor details there genius.

Luckily, SDS has internal metrics that can tell them how the game is ACTUALLY functioning without relying on loud reddit posters.

The thing that concerns me is that this version of the game is what those metrics have created. Their data is probably excellent for helping them increase profit, but that does not necessarily translate to a better product. There are many issues with the game and without a doubt connections are a big one. If connections were not an issue, they would be able to conduct their own tournament without having to cancel it every weekend.

Intelligence doesn’t really factor into what you’re able to see in front of you.. don’t really need to have a high level of intellect to see a game lagging lol. 7 years of playing online, thousands of games, including against people on this forum. No complaints except for the one time I crushed you. Sounds like it’s a crutch for losing.

For the record, I played you in an Event game years ago when you were someone else. You beat me 4-3 and now I know you were cheating with your internet HAHAHAHAHA LMAO. Nah you were pretty good.

Hey I play in a Custom League with a bunch of Dominicans. Wonder if its the same league? In two years though I haven't had any issues playing them. Not all of them live in the DR though.

Hey man, it’s a different league for sure. I would’ve recognized your name. Agree, not all live in the DR but trust me. I notice a big difference whenever I play one of them outside of the US.

You couldn’t be anymore wrong…the lag makes this game borderline unplayable online. It is not even close to an excuse for losing games, It’s the truth and factual.
Look at it this way…this is the only game on the market where it’s pretty much a requirement to use a monitor because the lag is so bad more times than not.

    Agreed.

Things are not "working as intended" when you can pick up the pitched ball much quicker in Practice mode on Legend, than in online RS on AS difficulty.

Since they are unwilling to invest in dedicated servers, they should at least give us a ping notification.

You realize that Microsoft pays a pretty significant amount of money to have games listed on gamepass right those studios are making $$$

I just went back and read every comment in this thread a second time. There was not a single comment complaining about losses. There were actually multiple people saying that it has nothing to do with losses, but about the experience. It is wonderful that you don’t have problems, but plenty of others do. I have yet to play a successful coop game with my kid this year. He loves it, but every single time we wind up on a freeze off. I actually don’t think I have had a single freeze off in RS games this year, but I have definitely experienced other connection related issues….and I don’t have connection issues with anything else, including other games. It 100% has nothing to do with losses.

Demise has been saying the same thing for years since he got smacked around by actual good players years ago. Now it’s just a crutch for everyone to cry connection issues. Haven’t had any issues outside of one coop game where the guys we were playing had 2 guys on last gen systems. Been playing 3s with no issues.
