Before I begin - I understand this will never happen. SDS loves outlier & continues to only increase it’s effectiveness every year. Next year’s game you’ll probably be able to hit 108 regularly lol. This post is simply asking the question “What if?”
Last year Madden removed Escape Artist as an ability & by all accounts it drastically improved the game (the game is still garbage but this was a big improvement). I feel that outlier is the same as escape artist in that it is a crutch quirk for people that can’t pitch well…Would removing it from the game improve the online gameplay? My opinion is yes. What are your thoughts?
Why would they? We have pitchers out there who regularly are hitting triple digits. At least this year not every pitch is 102 mph. It’s much more realistic this year than in years past. I’ve seen Randy Johnson throwing between 97-103 this year whereas in years past it was 102 every pitch with his fastball. My guess is you need to practice to recognize the pitch at the release point. Just guessing with good players is only going to frustrate you.
Most pitchers that throw 100 mph are only doing it like 2-4 times a game I think you’re confusing video games with reality
Duran is not throwing 100 2-3 times a game he’s throwing 10-15 a game and he’s a closer. Hunter Greene throws 40-50 percent of his fastballs in the triple digits. That works out to approximately 20-25 a game. So your incorrect with that assessment. Heck Clase is tossing consistent triple digit cutters. Where are you getting your info from?

I believe he said most. Whenever they show a chart of 100 MPH pitches it has Greene on top with a number then pitchers 2-5 combined have thrown 1/10th the number of pitches combined over 100 than he has. That being said, the fact that everyone does it should make hitting it easy by now.

These guys are also constantly getting hurt nowadays so maybe just slap them with a durability of like 10 and we can make everyone happy.

Outlier is only difficult to hit on legend lol

I don’t think it would be as bad if they only gave it to players who actually throw it. But then people complain that they’re “unusable” compared to the players with outlier. And now we’re here.
Just like everyone complained that anyone under like 90 power is unusable. Now everyone has juiced power instead of just making the game more balanced. Although power does seem a little less important this year.

Can you tell me who they have given outlier to that doesn’t or had not thrown 100 plus? There are cards they should’ve been given outlier to like the 400 save Craig Kimbrell that don’t have it. Early in his career he was consistently hitting 100 plus.

No, but it should be toned down a bit. Too many pitchers have it and it should be 100-101, not 104. I don’t remember Pedro or Kerry Wood ever touching triple digits and if they ever did, it sure wasn’t 104.
I wasn't able to find out the total number of times Kerry Wood did hit 100 MPH, but he did it at least twice during his 20 K game. That was the only listing I could find. I suspect that was the norm for him until his arm finally gave out.
However, this further proves your point that it's very hard to hit that speed more than a handful of times a game.

The problem with outlier fastballs is connections. In a good connection game it is a little fast but not imposible, you can actually read and react. Outlier in a bad connection game is like 115mph. SDS’ biggest effort should be to improve connectivity instead of content. Can’t enjoy good content in a game where timing is king while having to deal with very high latency.
This is the answer once again and is the #1 issue for this game. Just glad people are finally starting to see it. It just didn't become a problem this year but is getting worse.
Good connection and I'll score 8+ on HOF. Bad connection (most of the time), I'm struggling to score 3.

Outlier is a crutch
Especially for people with bad internet. They don't really need to know how to pitch. Just throw outlier with your laggy [censored] internet.
-
I don't think internet connection quality is a thing. Seems to me everyone gets the same quality regardless of where they live or what they pay. Game seems to run fine. Match up against a quality opponent and I struggle to score and eventually lose. Match up against a noob who doesn't know I swing like a madmen at pitches regardless of location and type I score a lot and win.
-
I think outlier needs to be a toggled setting (similar to holding a button to slide step) that allows the P to reach back and put a little extra on their pitch at the cost of stamina. With the exception of like a handful of relievers and Greene, no one throws 100+ regularly every pitch.
It makes me think back to when meter was a main way to pitch....you could let the meter go further to throw a bit harder but at the cost of accuracy and stamina.

Outlier is a crutch
So Duran, Hicks, Ohtani, and the rest of the guys who throw 100-104 should sacrifice their fastball in this game because outlier is a crutch. Or the legends that threw over 100. Come on bud that’s a silly argument.
But they aren’t throwing 100 pitches 103mph. It’s not realistic. Also, some players like Pedro have it and he’s never thrown over 100.

At least he came close having topped out in the upper 90s. Lee Smith was mid 90s at best yet he tosses 100 on every pitch.

Pedro?
Pedro hit 100 on multiple occasions while pitching for Boston.

Pedro most certainly did hit a 100 on multiple occasions while pitching for Boston. I actually remember watching some of those games. Also a simple search would’ve revealed this as well and allowed you to save some face on this issue.

How about an Outlier for something other than Velo. Like control for instance. Maddux is nearly unusable on AS and below. On HOF and above, he seems much more effective but gets shelled quite often on lower difficulties. Find it odd that one of the greatest pitchers of all time is so mediocre until you reach HOF.

As usual you’re wrong…Pedro’s fastball averaged 93-95 in his prime with the Sox & then it topped out at 89 when he was with the Phillies. The fastest pitch he ever threw was 99 & he only did that a handful of times early in his career. But he never hit 100, Much less 102…[censored].
