Its free to play for 10 Hours on Xbox right now. And PS if you have EA thingy. I played a little. Feels about the same as it did a few years ago. Definitely not anything like a baseball simulation, but it can be fun if you just want to play a baseball style game with interesting characters.

Super Mega Baseball is a good baseball game. People get put off by the aesthetic but it does play a solid game, albeit with a little more fun and attitude injected.

If it was not for the fact that System Shock came out yesterday and Diablo 4 comes out in early release tomorrow then I might have purchased it.

If July 7th rolls around and I decide that the implantation of seasons does not work for me then I may pick up SMB4 at that point.

We might need to define simulation. As much as I like MLB The Show, the juiced cards, many of which has no basis in reality, makes it hard for me to say that it is a simulation.

For true simulation, in my opinion, you have to go to a game like Out Of The Park Baseball.

Just talking about the way it plays, and MLB teams, stadiums ect. I dont think anything else is close. Of course competition is limited.

I mean I wish it was a simulation game but it is what it is it still looks really cool and fun ! The graphics are actually pretty darn good lol I love mlb the show but they continue to disappoint with not improving the graphics no improvement to gameplay no improvement to franchise mode especially they’re starting to go down the road like 2K which I hate. I’m thinking of picking up Super Mega Baseball 4

I think the thing with The Show that can be confusing is that the regular modes…Franchise, Playoff, etc. are much more of a simulation. DD is far from it.

See even then, when the gamers skill is more important than the underlying attributes, then some of the simulation is thrown out the window.

I mean, if you are controlling Kyle Schwarber in Franchise and you are good enough to not strike out with him then it throws the simulation off, as he led the league in SO last year.

If your team's number 5 pitcher has an ERA of 2.00 or under because you are good at pitching and exploiting holes in the CPU batters then the simulation is thrown off.

That is not to cast aspersions at those who play the mode and want to call it a simulation but, at least to me, directly controlling the outcomes of an at bat or an inning pitched negates some of the simulation

Yeah, I was just watching a stream of it while I was on the exercise bike. Three Franchise options, with or without a draft and the ability to customize the game, season and playoff lengths.

Exactly and that’s pretty cool options and there’s more other stuff you can do to franchise. That’s why SDS should take notes regarding Franchise
