How is a guy batting .251 a high diamond?

Compare the hitting stats of Mookie (.251) to Yordan and tell me this game isn't about bias? Funny, when Verlander had a low ERA with the Astros, he was always an 85/86. Now, his highest ERA in years with the Mets and he's still a high diamond.

Because ratings are not based on knee [censored] reactions based on a few weeks of the season. A lot of players have ups and downs. At the end of the year, Mookie's Average, Homeruns, Runs, etc. will be close to what they have always been.

Then, Yordan should have been a high diamond all along, and so should have been Verlander, right?

And we have bi-weekly ratings (knee-[censored] reactions) for a reason. Some are just applied differently .
-
Mookies high ratings are not all based on hitting...he is high in other areas and that elevates his card.

Yordan, while a great hitter, but has no defense to add value to his card. Not sure about Verlander, other than it reminds me of Kersh's card a couple of years ago or so.

They use a 3-year history

He's still diamond hitting, while at best, he should be a gold.

Yordan has gunned people at the plate and makes every play he should. You obviously don't watch the Astros on a consistent basis. He isn't the best range wise, but he is good in the field.

That still doesn't explain Verlander getting low diamond every year with the Astros. He should have been a 95+ last season, if we're going off the last three years.

At least he did not cheat. I do think the Dodgers should have kept him, he would have been an excellent DH.

Your Astros were dominant last year, and are a heavy favorite this year. This group does not need to cheat (except for maybe Altuve).

Mookie’s OPS is nearly identical to his career OPS in LA so odds are unless he has some steep decline overall on offense the offensive ratings won’t change massively. Verlander hasn’t been pitching long enough to get penalized by the rating adjustment. They only do them every 3 weeks. That being said he’s had the following starts.
5 IP 1 ER
7 IP 1 ER
5 IP 6 ER
8 IP 1 ERI’m sure they won’t kill his ratings because the Rays tagged him when he’s owning everyone else.

It’s 2023 and we’re still using AVG and ERA as the be-all end-all?

Astros are weak

Batting average doesn’t matter. SDS uses a revolutionary, highly sophisticated rating system using 5 critical categories: dancing ability, coolness, dopeness, freshness, and smart-brained.
Obviously, they rate each category with a traditional 1-13 rating system, where 8 is the highest. The scale goes up and then back down — like a tent.
