Been playing since 21. I feel like I just beat Elden Ring.
Anyway, this post is for all you middle aged career family peeps. It is possible to complete with these young-uns!
Congrats man!
I am also a "middle aged" family man, so this is inspiring.
What was your record of total RS games played? Just trying to gage how much I would need to invest...

My record is 36-13, so yeah had to invest quite a bit of time. Went on a 6 game win streak to finally push over 900.

Any hitting tips from other older players?
I’m really struggling. Early on I was hitting okay…then late and off balance. Then moved to my monitor…I’m early on everything.

Congrats, man!
My goal is World Series this year, but family and work prevent me from playing the 12 hours a day to get there.

Good on 'ya! -
Making Pennant Race feels like that for me lol. I do like the program option to get the rewards. I broke a nail on my final push to get to 500, so not all sunshine and rainbows I guess.

Good on 'ya!Why would you think you would need to play "the 12 hours a day to get there"?? The OP said he has only played 49 Ranked Seasons games (in about 1.5 months). That is about 1 game per day. Although the time to grind and obtain players to put together a competitive squad is significant, so I guess there's that. Bottom line is you really do need some actual talent to get there. I simply don;t have it. I have been able to make it just over the 700 mark a few times, but then I run out of ability to move forward.

Sure man, just use directional hitting. haha j/k
- I do use a monitor, if you are early it's a lot easier to slow your bat down than speed it up.
- Before I go into a HOF RS game, I do custom practice on legend and face Bob Gibson (Groundbreakers I think). I start with FB/sinker inside then focus on sliders away to get my timing down. Then I add them together to get the change of speed down for both a right and left bat. If I am off, then I typically don't jump in to a ranked game.
- This is personal preference but I experimented with PCI placement a lot. Finally settled on not using the anchor and start my PCI low and inside. I have a tendency to drop my pci to low so this way I can only focus on moving my pci up to meet the ball. Plus this takes away the low inside part of the plate where most peeps spam.
- Biggest change I made and I think where it kinda clicked is having a good approach every at bat. Easier said than done, but I rarely swing at the first pitch. Instead I think I've gotten a lot better at guessing the opponents pitch by recognizing their patterns and I look for that pitch. I went from maybe getting 1 Perf Perf a game to averaging at least 4 on HOF.
- I'm pretty decent at pitching and that helps me stay in games. My ERA in HOF games is sub 3.
- It definitely helps to have the best players. I have them all and completed all the collections including set 1. I'm No Money Spent btw. Will probably post a "how to be a stub millionaire" one day.
Lastly try not to get discouraged. I was having a rough go for awhile when I finally hit the 700 mark and HOF. I was only scoring 1 or 2 runs and felt very overwhelmed. I just kept at it and it eventually just clicked.
Hope this helps!
P.s. I forgot the most important tip. Don't drink more than 2

This is the best thread of the year. The joy, the brotherhood, you love to see it.

Congratulations! Always makes me happy to see someone enjoying success after years of grinding. It’s even more impressive doing it this year where everyone has a 97+ team.
