I wonder what stats his 1998 season 70th HR milestone card would look like. Would it match Babe Ruth? I know his collection card has 125 power from both sides but his contact could be better but I think he's well known from his 1998 season more than his rookie record.

His contact might not be that much more impressive. His batting average wasn’t significantly higher in 1998 than in 1987.

Swing may be bad, but there is thunder in that bat.

Does he have multiple stances? Miguel Cabrera does and Albert Pujols did? McGwire changed his stance from 1987 to 1998 and could have 2 like they did.

Yeah I think they kinda screwed that up. He only had 3 seasons where he hit over .300. Two of those seasons were injury shortened. So only one full season over .300 and ‘98 wasn’t one of them (.299). For the current milestone card he only hit .289 so, I don’t feel as though his attributes should be anywhere close to Babe’s.

Yeah, I screw that up. Babe have a higher BA than McGwire. It just seeing a skinny and non-bearded McGwire seem weird to me as someone who started watching baseball in the late 90s

Just the heads up. McGwire had a different stance in 1987 and the game has both his 1987 stance and his later stance. Which do you think his 1987 card should have?

This also applies to my own post which suggested he probably had 2 stances in the game.

You probably didn’t notice he initially had his “new” stance and then they updated it to gave him the stance he had during his time with the As and that’s why you decided to be a smart [censored]… but, whatever stance or swing that does not work for me, it could work for you.

You mean they fixed it to make it correct?

Ruth’s swing always felt like it wasn’t as bad as it seems. It’s like his running style, it’s appears much worse by design as a gimmick. He smacks everything for me. And I’ll never get over the run, he’s always going to be in my team lol.

And not that it matters, but when are we ever gunna get a good two way Babe Ruth card. His gold from years ago is as close as we got I feel like.

I don’t have Ruth yet, but I used to prefer Gehrig over Babe before they lowered Gehrig’s attributes since last year’s game. I liked Babe’s swing too, did they change it this year?

A “good two way card”?? Who knows!! But they have had versions of the Babe as a pitcher with decent hitting numbers. Not great by any means…..but they have been in the game before.
