I'm having a major problem with check swings that is making this game totally unenjoyable to play. Even if I have perfect timing on a ball right down the center of the plate my batter will still check swing. I've read other forums and the consensus answer seems to be that I am not fully pressing the swing button-- but this is not true. Even if I mash down the swing button my batter will still check swing probably around 50% of the time. I thought maybe my controller was messed up, but changing controllers I still have the same problem.

Can anyone help me with this? I just can't keep playing a game if it makes me angry and it sucks trying to play a home run challenge when you can't swing at pitches right down the center of the plate. Is there any way to just turn off check swings? I'd rather not be able to check swing when I want to than not be able to fully swing when I want to.

Same with me. Several times I'll barrel up a ball right down the middle and the game forces a check swing. It's a legacy problem.

Whether it is with me or with the game I'm not sure.

But I wish there were an option to disable pressure- or time-sensitve inputs. I'd strike out more, but I'd crush a lot more too.

If you are on PS5 and have another controller try that. I had the issue where normal button presses were being registered as check swings way too often. I had another controller I had retired because of Stick drift and tried that one and the problem went away. So, in my case it was a combination of the X button being faulty and the way the game handles button presses because the X button was not an issue in any other game.

I will say that I have not been impressed with the PS5 controllers. My first one had stick drift in a matter of weeks. The replacement, which I had to jump through hoops to get, developed this X button issue (just in this game) and I am now on my third one.

I go through PS5 controllers like candy. All because the X button starts check swinging after about 3 months. No idea why but it has made me go through 8+ controllers since November 2021 when I got the console.

Bought my PS5 Sunday; the extra controller I bought for my son is fine, the one included has the circle button sticking as if I dropped soda on it. That and the weird vibrations, and the vibrations on every input navigating the menu. And its on or off, so if I want it while playing but not when scrolling, I'm screwed. Not impressed, and confirms what I had heard, that they're cheap a**.

As I said, I had to jump through hoops to get mine replaced but if it less than a week old then I would definitely try.

If you haven’t already, try holding down the swing button instead of tapping it. I’ve had problems before with check swings and making a concerted effort to hold down the button eliminated that.

I buy my controller at game stop and now any time I have any issues, I just bring it back, pay 11 bucks and get a brand new one. Ps5 controllers are flat out garbage. If the stick drift doesn't get you, something else will. Get one at gamestop and buy the year protection and never pay for a new controller again. Well full price anyways.

I look at it as a membership fee for my controller. Gone through too many to count since I bought the ps5. NHL does a number on them pushing in the left stick

I actually did that but the return policy is only good for one new controller a year. Now if you pay for the protection policy each time you return a bad controller then yeah you won't have to pay full price. Still a lousy deal that these controllers are so poorly made.

Nice suggestion; I would assume they would have the same deal with Xbox controllers. I imagine mashing down the swing button trying to get a full swing isn't so good for the life of my controller- so some type of replacement program is probably a good move.

Current trying analog stick swinging. Seems like I'm having the same problem, but maybe I just suck at the analog swinging.

Thats what the 11 bucks each time is for. I'd rather pay that every 4 months than 100 for a new controller
