A's Fan
-
I've been an A's fan since I was a kid in the 80s. It's part of who I am. This news about the team and Vegas being pretty official is devastating.
I humbly request that SDS allow relocation in future versions of the show. Specifically so I can take the A's back to Oakland.
I know ppl will blame the politicians or the fans or whoever, but the owner got what he wanted and that should tell you everything you need to know.
Oakland A's fans are real. We aren't unicorns. Despite the narrative of many pundits.
SDS let me right this wrong virtually in future games.
Thank you -

Thank youYou can rebrand now which is pretty much moving a team anywhere you want. Iām using the Aās in one of my franchises and built them their own brand new 48,472 seat stadium. You can do a lot in franchise. I chose to build them a palace to play in.

I thought that just changed the name. I didn't know you could do a new stadium with that. I'll have to check it out. Thx!

No one being honest blames the fans (except to the extent they elected the politicians on that side of the equation.) Everything else falls squarely on:
A. The owner(s).
B. MLB for crafting the rules in such a way to allow this to happen. The way they set up revenue sharing, you end up penalizing small-market successes (like St. Louis & San Diego) to reward large-market failures (DC, Seattle, Detroit) -

The Aās had an amazing deal in place with San Jose that the Giants cried about and got vetoed. The proposed stadium was beautiful.

You wonāt even have the problem of uniforms because the Aās should retain all the old uniforms as throwback uniforms. I rebranded the Nationals into the Montreal Expos in 2022 and just used the Expos throwback uniforms for all the games.

A's fans still way better than Red Sox or Yankess fans

Thank youAs a fan of BOTH the Expos (Nats) and Nordiques (Avs), I sympathize. At least after a cool down period, I switched to the Habs, but replacing the Expos is a lot tougher: no other team close by to root for, and baseball is my favourite sport. Iām a lukewarm Jays fan now, but I hitched my wagon to the Brewers, another small market/never won anything team that had a young exciting team at the time (Weekes, Fielder in minors, etc).

Thank youYou can assemble any players, put them in any uniform, have their home in any stadium, and play anywhere (assuming you're not picky about the location not being announced if it's not on the list). If they don't have a retro uniform available, you can create it. I think that's pretty cool.
On a personal note, we knew they were leaving. They have been shopping for a new home for a few years since they couldn't come up with a deal for a new stadium in Oakland. It sucks. I was hoping they would come to Sacramento so they at least would stay in NorCal. That didn't work out either, I suppose because they could get more revenue (and types of revenue) in Vegas.

I definitely feel for fans when they lose their team but at the same time I'll be eyeing Yankees or Mets at Las Vegas A's the same way I'm waiting with baited breath to find out what week the Jets will be in Vegas this season... now they just need an NBA team.
