Does any one else feel like that the content has become burning and stale with these 99 ovr cards. I have no motivation to do collections or get new cards if I am liking the cards I play with. I enjoy playing ranked but when there aren’t any rewards what’s the point. I don’t see a point in live series collection either. Only way to get the collections done is to put money in the game or get extremely lucky with packs.
-
You just said you were liking the cards you play with. Isn't that the whole point.
-
They are hoping that sets and seasons keeps players invested. That in a month or so when Season 2 starts and set 2 cards will start getting released you will want to collect them because your set 1 cards will become far less useful come season 3.
Then In season three you have to start accumulating set 3 so that you can eventually phase out Set 2 cards which will lose their usefulness for season 4.

SDS releases high OVR cards slow, building during the year.
Fans: "We want 99 cards earlier!"
SDS floods the zone with 99s Day 1
Fans: "Everything's stale!"
-
There is really no good answer, no matter what people will complain, I think they need to actually release more lower diamond cores and captains, I love the 99s, but it would be fun to see more of those cards in the game.

Is this the same as people saying that
If im winning the game is awesome
If i keep losing then the game is garbage? -
I somewhat agree with OP, but not because of the cards being 99's, but rather all of these Set cards eventually become unusable in online RS H2H. These cards are basically depreciating assets, in relation to the usual annual game cycle, and less valuable in the long-term.
Regarding the OP's second point, the reason to complete the Live Series collection is for the LS collection rewards. These cards are Core and therefore, more worthy of a long-term investment. I do wish the LS cards were more usable, as the vision, reaction times, etc. on many of these cards are ridiculously low.

99 overalls on day 1 is a great way to weed out the scrubs and casuals so they wont be cluttering the forums and online lobbies by the AS break.

And theres sure a hell no way anybody ever said give me 99s day one I can’t use two months later lmfao. These guys had to reinvent the microtransaction sports fantasy team building wheel for no reason.
99s is just all some people can focus on this year. Omg the game is so good, sooooo many 99s, it’s just amazing because did I mention the 99s. Tough to have a bad game with all these 99s. These go up to 11 and the diamonds are 99s!!!

They fooked up with all the going over the 99 cap stuff. SDS broke the game at that point

One of the mistakes they made (IMO) is not making the set 1 collection rewards CORE cards. I feel no motivation to grind for the 2nd pack to get Babe Ruth because I can only have 1 wild card from the pack after July. Otherwise I’d be gridining for stubs, buying set 1 cards to lock in and have more of a long term thing to work towards. We only have short term goals to shoot for.

100% agree with this comment. I locked in my first pack yesterday and picked Pedro. I love both Chipper and Babe and in years past have kept them in my lineup once I had 99s of them, but this year is different. I picked Pedro because I wanted pitching, but I really already plan to use Realmuto for my wildcard slot. Even though I have some stubs and could probably get to a second pack fairly quickly, there just doesn't seem to be much motivation.
When the game launched, I really thought the sets and core made a lot of sense. At that time I thought the set 1 rewards were core, but once I realized they weren't, I just haven't quite been able see how all this works together. I could really see a lot of people buying a card like WBC Trout, Realmuto, Sasaki or Ohtani and saying forget this collection stuff.

Agreed! There aren’t enough good core cards. It almost makes that core set useless too. As each week goes on I’m less motivated to grind for any set 1 card with an expiration on it.
-
I would agree with the set 1 collection guys should be core, other than that I like the content. I’m assuming you guys all sped through the content and now have nothing to do because you don’t want to go into ranked and need more offline stuff to grind.

Agreed. I got Chipper and I think I'm going to hold off on collecting anything else that's sellable so I got more stubbs for later/finish AL collection.

lol jesus mary and joseph mate - this forum sometimes - what a post - chapeau to you - this is top rank stuff - let me get my new gouda cheese out and a very tiny violin for you

I’m actually loving all the 99 cards this early! The only thing I hate is that you can’t use them after June…That was a big mistake. I will genuinely be sad when I can’t use these guys again.

Sets ruined content this year. This is the least motivated I’ve ever been to play DD.
It’s only mid April. By mid May, there’s going to be a heavy drop off with interest. I could see this coming when they announced it.
Only way they save it for me is either scrapping the sets idea altogether or giving at least 3 Wildcards compared to 1.
This is just another example of SDS taking what the community wants out of context and doing it in the most extreme way because I’m sure everyone who has a say in it is extremely casual when it comes to playing DD.

This is a decent take.
I predict that when set 3 drops SDS will in fact add one or two more WC slots. Or, perhaps more likely, a hitter slot and a pitcher slot, 2 total. I'd vote for that.
I think putting cards from sets out to pasture is a bad idea. Players bond with cards. I do NOT want to not be able to use Murakami once set 3 drops...don't CARE if there are "better" players at his position (there won't be).
