I haven’t even logged on in 4 days. Usually I’m playing DD at least an hour or two a day for the first month of its release.
Just have zero motivation to do anything. I might find more interest when Set 2 drops. Going after Set 1 cards just seems pointless when they’ll be unusable in July. I’d rather wait and go after cards I’m going to use for more of the “prime” of the game for me.
Maybe Topps Now or POTM can pull me back. It just seems incredibly stale and I knew it would with this strategy as soon as they announced it. I just love baseball and knew I’d at least enjoy RTTS. I’m glad gameplay is noticeably better though.

I just watched the pre launch stream talking about DD and there was nothing mentioned about anything past Season 3.

Why did they decide to come out with 99's right off the jump? it's so awful like this, I understand at the allstar break... and late in the year to start pumping out super cards... but I don't understand the logic behind it. Also after 50 days base set 1 you can't use in ranked? so why did I grind my eyes out for these cards?... I'm remaining hopeful SD studios knows what they are doing but it's not looking good.

i get that and its your opinion, but coming on here leaving negative feedback when you've only played the tech test, its just bad energy, the NGL storylines mode was awesome, gameplay feels smooth, like this is easily been the most I've enjoyed the show since 20. 21 & 22 were terrible. And its a baseball game, of course it's going to be the same, what do you want them to add, a free roaming mode? Like goodness man. You're opinion is yours but you've only had one piece of the pie not the whole thing.

some of the guys here brought up some good points though to be the devils advocate here - i know you are passionate about this game Raes but its true that this game is in the best shape its been since 2017 and i know you would appreciate that - the tech test i also tried out, it was horrible - completely a joke - this game today feels nothing like the tech test in case that helps
I still talk to many people who I used to compete with and unfortunately they share a different perspective. Also my gripe isn't per se about how the game plays from purely a hitting and pitching perspective. I have always made that clear. They can balance that a million times and some people will still be unhappy. No, my gripe is that the engine of this game, the core and the backbone of all systems hasn't changed in well over 6 years. The game is not optimized for current gen consoles (PS5/XSX/S). The netcode is laughable, freezing of online games still happens after I don't know how many years. Peer to peer connection is the same as before, it's just not good. These are the things that make or break the experience for me and they are always left untouched. Some new program and a few 99s at launch isn't gonna distract me from that, ever.
i completely hear your position mate - i have spoken with a few guys too this year who are in similar circles im sure - top 50 guys and its a mixed bag - half love half hate - you just have to pick your side of the pond
from me to you though - this has been by far the best since 2017 - id love to see someone say otherwise and no one is arguing about how poor 18/19/20/21 were
the price of this game for X hours of enjoyment is less than a nice lunch date too - something to keep in mind on relative value vs. enjoyment of time
While I agree with you that this is the best game since 17 and 18-22 were more of a joke, it still does not match the experience of 17. I played almost 500 online games in 17 and it was the most I've ever enjoyed this game since buying the very first version in 06?. For whatever reason my online games don't even show up from 18-on if you look me up but I can't guarantee you I have never again played as many online games as I did in 17. Pretty sure you know the reason. I am enjoying this new game better than the past 5 year's editions but they will never bring back the most popular "Gameplay" of 17. I'm sure its a financial reason and there are more microtransactions nowadays.

i get that and its your opinion, but coming on here leaving negative feedback when you've only played the tech test, its just bad energy, the NGL storylines mode was awesome, gameplay feels smooth, like this is easily been the most I've enjoyed the show since 20. 21 & 22 were terrible. And its a baseball game, of course it's going to be the same, what do you want them to add, a free roaming mode? Like goodness man. some of the guys here brought up some good points though to be the devils advocate here - i know you are passionate about this game Raes but its true that this game is in the best shape its been since 2017 and i know you would appreciate that - the tech test i also tried out, it was horrible - completely a joke - this game today feels nothing like the tech test in case that helps
I still talk to many people who I used to compete with and unfortunately they share a different perspective. Also my gripe isn't per se about how the game plays from purely a hitting and pitching perspective. I have always made that clear. They can balance that a million times and some people will still be unhappy. No, my gripe is that the engine of this game, the core and the backbone of all systems hasn't changed in well over 6 years. The game is not optimized for current gen consoles (PS5/XSX/S). The netcode is laughable, freezing of online games still happens after I don't know how many years. Peer to peer connection is the same as before, it's just not good. These are the things that make or break the experience for me and they are always left untouched. Some new program and a few 99s at launch isn't gonna distract me from that, ever.

While I agree with you that this is the best game since 17 and 18-22 were more of a joke, it still does not match the experience of 17. I played almost 500 online games in 17 and it was the most I've ever enjoyed this game since buying the very first version in 06?. For whatever reason my online games don't even show up from 18-on if you look me up but I can't guarantee you I have never again played as many online games as I did in 17. Pretty sure you know the reason. I am enjoying this new game better than the past 5 year's editions but they will never bring back the most popular "Gameplay" of 17. I'm sure its a financial reason and there are more microtransactions nowadays.
gameplay of 17, you mean "just late be great" lol its the nostalgic aspect, 17 had some of its own problems, although 17 was awesome dont act like gameplay was king supreme in 20, that was the first year of the ball physics engine.

17 sucked honestly. I loved it because it was my first year in DD but if you compare 17 to 23, 23 beats it in every single category.
People forget the BS home runs off jammed fastballs, the insane base running cheese, terribly slow animations. It really was not a good game at all compared to 23.

Fair argument. To me though, I for once did not feel like giving them my money for a product where they did not do the absolute best they could. If you would ask every single developer over at SDS the question "is this the absolute best you could do?", what do you expect their answer would be? That's an honest question, not a rhetorical one. To me that's food for thought and motivation to stay away until things do change.

My theory us that if they dangle 99s in front of our faces for the full year then people will spend more money.
It just makes me not want to play the game. What's the point in grinding when 8 hours in you have a team full of 97s? Day 1 ranked is full of outlier lol, not thanks.
ill be the devils advocate here and say mate that i personally hate having to grind a year to get a good team - and then start at 0 again just a few months later - it is completely unfulfilling - offline is also trash for me a useless waste of my real life time - i only do this now to build the team i want then i go into online play - this way on the new system we leave off last year playing new cards all good instead of PAINSTAKING bronzes and silvers / commons
To each his own. All I know is that this is the first year since 2016 that I don't have the motivation to play this game. On the bright side I will be saving about $2000 this year.
yeah see i would never in a million years spend more than a dollar on top of the game value - as you said - to each their own - and hats off to you by the way - its good not to want to grind this game, what a waste of real living - i just came in from cutting chainsaw in the woods - opposite of electronics

the ball physics engine was implemented in 2017, the way the ball came off the bat, That was the the first year of new ball physics.

Don't say things you wouldn't say to my face. You can disagree with me and have a debate on every and any topic. But don't go down that road if you wouldn't do that in real life either.
okay take it easy, he has a point, you aren't even playing the game, so you cant really call the game boring, its just not a valid reason. It's like calling a book you never read because that's what a few others said.
This so far from the truth. This is not a book, it's a video game. The same video game that I have been playing for a decade, and don't tell me it's different because it's not. Just like 22 was no different from 21. Which was no different from 20. And so on, you get the idea. And like I said, I rigorously played the tech test. IT'S THE SAME FREAKING GAME. It's fine if you don't agree with me, we all have opinions and we are entitled to those. But don't come here and try to discredit my opinions because I am somehow not informed simply because I didn't pay money for this reskin this year.
i get that and its your opinion, but coming on here leaving negative feedback when you've only played the tech test, its just bad energy, the NGL storylines mode was awesome, gameplay feels smooth, like this is easily been the most I've enjoyed the show since 20. 21 & 22 were terrible. And its a baseball game, of course it's going to be the same, what do you want them to add, a free roaming mode? Like goodness man. You're opinion is yours but you've only had one piece of the pie not the whole thing.

That's fair, like I said everyone is entitled to an opinion and one can also be negatively in my direction. That's okay, as long as it's respectful I don't take offense.
some of the guys here brought up some good points though to be the devils advocate here - i know you are passionate about this game Raes but its true that this game is in the best shape its been since 2017 and i know you would appreciate that - the tech test i also tried out, it was horrible - completely a joke - this game today feels nothing like the tech test in case that helps
I still talk to many people who I used to compete with and unfortunately they share a different perspective. Also my gripe isn't per se about how the game plays from purely a hitting and pitching perspective. I have always made that clear. They can balance that a million times and some people will still be unhappy. No, my gripe is that the engine of this game, the core and the backbone of all systems hasn't changed in well over 6 years. The game is not optimized for current gen consoles (PS5/XSX/S). The netcode is laughable, freezing of online games still happens after I don't know how many years. Peer to peer connection is the same as before, it's just not good. These are the things that make or break the experience for me and they are always left untouched. Some new program and a few 99s at launch isn't gonna distract me from that, ever.
i completely hear your position mate - i have spoken with a few guys too this year who are in similar circles im sure - top 50 guys and its a mixed bag - half love half hate - you just have to pick your side of the pond
from me to you though - this has been by far the best since 2017 - id love to see someone say otherwise and no one is arguing about how poor 18/19/20/21 were
the price of this game for X hours of enjoyment is less than a nice lunch date too - something to keep in mind on relative value vs. enjoyment of time
While I agree with you that this is the best game since 17 and 18-22 were more of a joke, it still does not match the experience of 17. I played almost 500 online games in 17 and it was the most I've ever enjoyed this game since buying the very first version in 06?. For whatever reason my online games don't even show up from 18-on if you look me up but I can't guarantee you I have never again played as many online games as I did in 17. Pretty sure you know the reason. I am enjoying this new game better than the past 5 year's editions but they will never bring back the most popular "Gameplay" of 17. I'm sure its a financial reason and there are more microtransactions nowadays.
i hear you also completely - a lot of you guys are right in everything you say - its all a matter of how much you get out of enjoyment in this game whilst its out on market - i enjoy talking baseball with a bunch of you on this forum and besides diablo 4 forthcoming there isn't anything else i have time or desire to play

So if they came to you to make this game not stale and boring which ideas do you propose? In a sports video game there’s not that many changes. Baseball is you hit the ball, throw the ball catch the ball. That’s how it’s been for 100+ years. So what exactly do you want them to change? Do you want a GTA style baseball game where you run around and go to a Baseball field and play pickup games like nba?

Have to disagree. And strongly. The packs you get don’t even have these cards in them. Just shitty bronze and commons. The amount of 99s you can grind too vs the amount you can just straight up purchase have never been further in opposite directions. Collected the entire live series, hit WS and finished the BR program? Thats cool, but have you not heard of the Around the World Pack? Oh darn, well he’s pack number 2. On top of that there is literally another 99 overall choice pack called something else lmao. And two 99 overalls in dynamics dous….on top of that they are all going to disappear.
I assume near the end of season 1 they have a season 1 promo like NBA 2k and put all the cards back in packs and make it extremely easy to get them. SDS always gives you an option to do something first/early for an extremely high price tag and then make you feel like an idiot a week later when everyone gets it for free. Picture shark map after map.

If I can spend $ 100 and get the same level rewards as collecting the entire live series, winning WS or BR the system is broke. If I can do that 3x a week and get 3x the rewards every week, the system is broke by ____ many times? CaN HuNgRy HoLe FiLl in ThA BLaNk?

they arent the same level rewards tho, the live series is a core set, not just set one, available all year.
