Why did they decide to come out with 99's right off the jump? it's so awful like this, I understand at the allstar break... and late in the year to start pumping out super cards... but I don't understand the logic behind it. Also after 50 days base set 1 you can't use in ranked? so why did I grind my eyes out for these cards?... I'm remaining hopeful SD studios knows what they are doing but it's not looking good.

Because they needed to do something drastically different to remain interesting. Because the truth is that this game has become stale and boring, given the fact that it's been the same for years and years. Little did they know that this change would actually make the game even more stale and boring.

I am not so sure. They probably knew it would be stale and boring, but maybe people would spend real world cash on microtransactions.

Maybe I'm In the minority, but I don't want to spend money on cards I won't be able to use sooner than later lol

I would not either (not playing this season) but never underestimate the "try hards"

You can use set 1 in season 1 and season 2
Season 1= Set 1
Season 2= Set 1 & Set 2
Season 3= Set 2 and Set 3
And I’m pretty sure after all their seasons are done they will open it up where you can use all the cards you kept

I feel like SDS couldn’t care less about selling stubs. They are giving out packs and cards like candy this year (and they always really have). If you go to the equipment collections, you’ll get like 10 packs for meeting stupidly low requirements, like 1 glove and 1 bat and 1 shin guard, etc
SDS has a lot of faults, but a greedy microtransaction model is not one of them.

Because they give us common cards and laugh at us

I like it, its made the market much more unpredictable and caters to both online and offline players. Most of these 99s will be outclassed as the seasons go on anyway but you can use your favorite cards all year long in at least some way.

It was a mistake. How boring and stale. Already.
Only way to save it is with some type of CAPPED mode. Like Battle Royale, but with cards we own, for 9 inning games and with a CAP on how we assemble our team.
Baseball is a STRATEGIC game. Both on and off the field.
This game is almost devoid of strategy at this point.
It's teams full of 26 perfect players on each side...and whoever is better at the "first person shooter" version of hitting wins.
-
So far my only complaint is the grind is too much to acquire cards that will expire for ranked play. Other than that I have no problem with any of it and I’m pretty hard on SDS every year!

This is factually incorrect.

I disagree. Yes, they give out packs constantly but those packs will almost never give you a good card.
Let's look at the Cardinals for example. Jim Edmonds is going for around 60K and Jordan Walker for over 100K this morning. As an offline player who does not flip cards 160K is a lot of stubs. This is after only a 2 weeks of play.
I am pretty sure I will see more 99 Cardinals each season. Come July, I will probably need to look at buying another Jim Edmonds, Jordan Walker and any new cards they release.
This season, just keeping up with the cards for my favorite team, which is all I ever aspire to, will be far more expensive than ever before.
I pity those who will try to complete the live series as well as every set.

gameplay is better with high overall cards at launch besides it's made collection squads not OP from the jump, I think this model is awesome, POTM cards are finally going to get juiced, Like imagine if April 21 Buxton was actually juiced and not dumbed down to a rating scale because it fits the card overalls, or Rizzo last year. These cards are awesome, game feels so much better online.

if you're referring to the PCI as the "first person shooter" then thats on you, zone hitting has been the move for years, no need to belittle people for using zone hitting for better user input,

So I need to be playing to understand their strategy and to be able observe what's going on? I might not be playing, but I am following the trends very closely which is why I am still here in the first place.

I play the game and don't find it stale and boring...how can you, someone that doesn't play say it is stale and boring. You don't have any reference to make that statement. Especially trying to speak for others and influence them. Cause you read some forum posts from others? Some reddit threads? You're right, others might feel it is stale and boring, but if they're actually playing the game they can come to that conclusion on their own and have that opinion.

Let me stop you right there champ. Just because you don't find it stale and boring, doesn't mean it is not in fact stale and boring. Like how I say it is stale and boring doesn't automatically make it stale and boring to you. I understand that perfectly fine, but apparantly you do not.
Secondly, I don't have any reference to make that statement? I have been playing this game for almost a decade, I have competed in the top levels against the top players for years. I have played the tech test like crazy. What do you mean I have no reference to make that statement? I am probably better informed than half of the people here and Reddit, so pipe down friend.
