This will be the interesting one to me. I wanna see how things are structured.
I am concerned about the impact of sets. I'm concerned that all of the cards they have shown us so far (Captains, Charisma, WBC) all say set 1 which means they may not be usable in later programs that require sets 2 and 3.
Set1-cards can be used with Set2-cards in RS until late summer. After that/with the introduction of Set3, Set 1 will not be allowed in RS

I'm pretty sure @Dolenz_PSN plays strictly offline. I can't remember if they said Sets will be exclusive to that timeframe for Conquest, Mini Seasons, and Play vs CPU

Ok, did not know about that.
They said that seasons (e.g. Set1 for season 1, Set 1+2 for season 2) is mandatory in ranked.
They also said:- it may be / it depends in Events, Conquest and Mini Season
- No season restrictions in BR, Play vs Friends/CPU and/or Casual H2H

I hated POTM programs last year because they required me to spend the majority of my time playing with players I did not want in order to complete programs. They also took took too long unless you bought/rented some of the players. They spoon fed you the last few cards one at a time, forcing you to earn PXP with them before they spoon fed you the next one.
I’m with you; 2 straight years of timed programs has killed my interest. Started playing 22 again last week and have tons of programs to do; stopped Topps and POTM after Devers (May). Having to grind so much then having to balance with the main program before running out of time did not make my playing time enjoyable at all. Never had time to play with a lineup I could enjoy.

So thanks for the video link above. I guess it all boils down to card releases. And yes, as mentioned, I am an offline player.
Here is the text from their graphic.
Some modes throughout Diamond Dynasty, like Ranked and Conquest, will require season squads made of of in-season cards., keeping squads fresh and competition fierce.
Dates listed for the seasons
Season 1 - Jan 1 - May 12 (Core and set 1 cards)
Season 2 - May 12 - July 7 (Core, Set 1 and Set 2)
Season 3 - July 7th - Sep 1 (Core, Set 2 and Set 3)Now as a Cardinal Fan who likes to use my Cardinals squad for many Conquests I see the following Set 1 Cards already
92 Wainwright (Captain)
97 Tommy Edman (Charisma)
90 Tyler O'Neill (WBC)
95 Arenado (WBC)
95 Goldschmidt (WBC)These are all labeled as Set 1 cards which means they all stop being relevant at the all star break.
Will we get new versions of those players? Will the Cardinals get a new team captain (or a new Wainwright card) for set 3? Will I spend countless time grinding a team affinity for 97 Tommy Edman just so he can be obsolete in July and then have to revert back to his live series card at that point?
How many will be disappointed when that awesome 99 Trea Turner WBC card can't be used in ranked after the all star break?
Sure they make it seem like you have options as you can have a single wild card where you can use a one player from a past set.
I have so many questions and concerns. If my fears come to pass then I could be frustrated and quit by my birthday (July 8th)
-
Honestly, seeing the attributes of Trea I really like not seeing him again (in RS) from there one. It‘s just boring to see the same cards all year (but I get the other way around :)) … But, I guess, we ran the thread off-topic

It's not really off topic as it ties in to the feature premiere for live content. Sets will play a big part in live content.
If I was a Phillies fan or a Turner fan then I may want to use that card all year, especially in offline modes such as conquest.
Since I play offline, I spend quite a bit of time using my theme team (Cardinals). The idea of me having to possibly take out the best versions of Edman or Goldy or Arenado (Wainwright and O'neill too) concerns me.

Imo we are probably going to have a set 1, 2, 3 version of every relevant player in the game. Or at very least set 1 and set 3 and then 2 and 4 for others. Most of the WBC and Charisma cards are players that are likely to get ASG cards(which would be set 3). If they don't give multiple versions of these players I so see where you are coming from. I just don't see a problem with sets and seasons for the majority if the player base. You are one of the very few that I've seen express concern that isn't a sweaty god squad using RS goon, so I respect your opinion on this, I just think it may be less of an issue than most are making it out to be.

And this is what I would like to see addressed in the Feature Premiere.
That being said, I don't see Tommy Edman getting another 97 card in July unless he has done something amazing at the beginning of the season.
Will Trea Turner get a new 99 card in July?
Will all the Non US/Non MLB players from the WBC get new versions?
I just find that highly doubtful.

People are forgetting there will be a 'wildcard' slot to play a person through all the seasons.

Love seeing Cbrev at SDS, but I need more WWBD content ASAP. Don’t let me down, brother.
Looking forward to the season so much this year, along with DD. So close to opening day.

I'm a 99.9% offline player...but some of these 99's are probably tied to online programs so I may have to get out of my comfort zone.
I'm really excited to have Team Affinity back.
And as others have mentioned...the Seasons aspect is an interesting twist. Based on the video Yoshi posted - it sounds like you can use any sets on the Nation Conquest map...but all "timed" conquest maps require active Seasons players. It may not be too big of a deal to me as I generally use the timed conquest maps as ways to grind POTM and Topps Now stats or whatever current program requires specific stats. But it will be an interesting twist for sure.
But I'm more excited about this game than I've been for a video game in the last 5 yrs. I think it's bc of the WBC excitement...it got me in baseball mode very early this yr.
-
I'm excited for sure but mu big wish is that how you complete a program or gain progress is revamped. The same structure has been in place for 3 years now.
With how many modes exist in DD there should be options to progress for example let's say boss cards from Jays, Yankess, Red Sox.
There should be 3 mission to beat red Sox on All Star in vs CPU, 3 pxp mission for using players from those 3 teams, if there is a lower rated card for one of those players a pxp mission for that card. These are all optional missions. But then you have conquest, Moments like always. Then also included a small xp payout for wins in BR/RS/Events. The point here is that for the featured program no matter what or how you play its rewarded and if you play everything you get all the benefits.
They are trying something new hopefully that's applied to everything
-
Re-watching the first DD content stream, they said the infinite loop will only be in the main program.
Does this confirm it (or a similar version) will NOT be in Team Affinity? Because that seems a bit of a letdown.
-
OK so crazy throey here other content. Is it possible SDS just hot tired of hearing "were are the 99s Ramone" and said let's just give them 99 an now if it doesn't work SDS can just go this is what you wanted.
PS I am here for thus choas of a mudding about of content and juiced cards day 1
-
I only have one item on my mlb the show wish list: No more timed programs.
If they do that, I'm willing to be open minded and roll with any changes or adjustments they want to make.

I need to see how the affinity works out. The team affinity rewards are all listed as set 1. How much grinding am I going to have to do to earn a card with an expiration date?

Here's hoping this stream is long enough to go over most of what the community is confused about (at least an hour if not longer) and is Live and not 'phoned in' like some of the other streams.
