I look forward to SDS over rating his deservedly common defense to diamond.

He was a great contact hitter, leader, and winner. I get why so many will be excited to use him. But common defense is fair given that he is statistically the worst defensive shortstop of all time. He played way too long at SS and should have been moved to 2B/OF. Arthur Rhodes me all you want, but the numbers don’t lie.
Continually saying this won't make it true. Maybe in your head it does, but in reality, it doesn't make it true.
Maybe try to support your assertion next time.
Honus was a worse SS. 10th all-time in errors committed by a SS. You can't use advanced metrics for him, so go by errors committed. He routinely booted balls. Your weird Yankee and Jeter hate don't make him as bad of a fielder as you want to make him out to be.

I’d have to say he’s one of the best hitters of my time. Wonder how his cards will look?
People keep saying the defense won't be there, but Michael Young is statistically one of the worst defensive shortstops ever and his Retro Finest card from this past game has 86 Fielding.
Gold defense would be fine. Young was a good ball player but shortstop wasn’t his spot. He did better on the corners. Hopefully Jeter will be a fun card.

Except errors aren't 1:1 because of playing conditions (Balls weren't subbed out every play. Grounds were a nightmare) in Honus's era. All Error totals prove is longevity.

Correct !!!
Also: even I know, that Honus played in the dead ball era. The did not play on the finest fields and there were many more balls hit on the ground (which was most common then) … If you want to compare Jeter, do it to Ripken/Vizquel (have fun doing it). Next thing is: „… but Jeter has the rings“

No one is hating on Jeter. He was a great player, he was not a great fielder. People get too [censored] hurt when anyone criticizes Jeter or says anything other than he was the best player ever. Most great players have flaws, fielding was Jeters.

We can all say whatever we want about his defense but at the end of the day he’s 1st ballot HoF, is an icon, and has more money than anyone one here will ever see. Willing to bet he doesn’t care what anyone thinks of his defense 15+ years ago.

I just went through an entire season of IKF at shortstop so I consider myself pretty well-versed when it comes to identifying the bottom of the barrel at that position.

Me on a high horse? Bro you’re trying to make people feel stupid for debating a baseball topic on a baseball forum because “Jeter doesn’t care what you think”. Yah it was a dumb comment so I replied with a dumb comment, cry about it

Call me when Bonds, Sosa and Clemens are added.
Tired of these fake cards with fake attributes.Derek Jeter was a shortstop for the New York Yankees baseball team. He wasn't Batman nor any other superhero for that matter.
He was a light hitting defensive shortstop in real life, but will have power and speed in this game for some reason.
I miss sim baseball. This game is turning into Fortnite. It's why they're pushing Japanese anime and this cartoon stuff.
How many times does it really need to explained why they do what they do with the attributes? If you dont like it, go play RBI Baseball or something.

Yikes. You sound a little triggered up there in your ivory tower. You think any pro athlete of that caliber cares what any of us think? Never tried to make anyone feel stupid, not sure how you got that. Guess only you are allowed to have opinions. Sorry, sir. Won’t happen again.

I don’t think any athlete of any caliber cares anything about what anyone on a video game forum is saying. That was my point which you clearly didn’t get. Your entire first comment was pointless, you’re free to post as many pointless comments as you want but don’t be surprised when someone calls you stupid.

Apparently you didn’t get my first comment because you just said exactly what I said and claimed you made the point first. Go be high and mighty somewhere else.

I’ll put it in simple terms.
Captain obvious is a commonly used term. People tend to use it when someone points out a stupidly obvious thing that everyone knows and therefore didn’t need to be said. Example: “Jeter doesn’t care what any of us think”If you still don’t get it and just want to go “hehehe triggered” that’s fine but it just proves you’re an idiot and don’t understand what I’m saying.

I agree with you. I don't even know how long I have been playing this game as this point, too long probably haha. But every year the god cards get introduced earlier and earlier. I honestly wish there was a system like Madden with salary cap so that by June we aren't seeing the same lineups on every team. Then release all the cards you want to but at least make it challenging to build a lineup haha.
@kovz88_MLBTS said in Best part of Jeter being in the game...:
@biscodisco_PSN
While I think he’s being a baby I don’t think he’s wrong about Jeters speed. The game is different now, steals are rare nowadays. Steals also don’t necessarily equal speed. Jeter should probably max around 80 speed if they want to be generous. His best card will probably be able to reach 90 thoLast year it seemed they had more of a slow trickle but once the 99 floodgates opened, it was on. Eric Hosmer gets a 99.
What annoyed me about Hosmer getting a 99 is that Morneau’s best card was his MVP season and he only gets a 98. You would think having a new player legend they would at least get a 99.
