I thought it was common knowledge that they play with ping pong balls compared to back in the day.
It's why you really can't compare eras.
Cobb, Wagner, Lajoie-- dead ball guys-- might play an entire game with the same ball that was covered with tobacco juice, spit, and anything else the pitcher could find. The ball was literally brown by the 3rd inning.
Now a ball gets tossed out if someone looks at it cross-eyed.
The balls are undoubtedly juiced. Have been for decades. And even more now.
If they didn't use juiced baseballs, games would be 2-1 with about 4 hits per game and a lot of pop ups and lazy fly balls.Gotta do something for the hitters considering every pitcher throws 100mph with movement.
HR's and K's for a while yet until hitters adjust to the new uber-pitching.These juiced balls were only in New York Yankee games and Cardinals games.

Haha!
No, they use them at Citizens Bank, Coors, Cincy and all the other launching pads as well.
I want to take batting practice at Coors.
Give me some 80mph fastballs middle away. I think I can turn on at least one. Tee hee hee! -

What juiced ball story? I see a bunch of theories about Judge but nothing about Pujols. I’m just curious, not saying you’re wrong. Of course I’d love to believe that Pujols had the greatest baseball story in years….. actually don’t burst my bubble. Albert Pujols is a hero.
As a Cubs fan whose team got torched by prime Pujols for years I was convinced he was roiding in the 90s. Looking back on his career I just didn't realize he was one of those rare HOF players right from the start.
Was he roiding? I will never completely rule it out, could the tiny ballparks and rock hard baseballs have helped in his swan song revival? I don't know, but I am going to say Albert was happy to be back where it all started and having fun for the first time in years.

They should’ve thrown juiced balls to Bellinger too
Would not have mattered. Cody is broken. Possibly permanently. Cubs wasted 17 mil on a defensive replacement/pinch runner.
Cody is a player best suited for a team that needs a 4th outfielder and ready to win it all, not on a team trying to rebuild.

I freely admit I didn’t read the article word for word but I saw lots of stuff about the All Star Game, Home Run Derby, the Postseason and Yankee Stadium. I didn’t see anything about the Cards or Pujols. I wouldn’t be shocked though. Obviously it was a great story for baseball but I just don’t see them creating a whole new scandal after Roids and then the sign stealing. It would be like baseball has no identity unless there is a scandal.

It’s a low risk/high reward move, if he finds his swing again he’ll be a steal

I completely understand the reasoning behind it, but I have watched Bellinger get significantly worse with each passing season. He cannot even hit his weight at this point.
I hope the change of scenery will make him realize that he needs to change and change right now to continue playing, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think that will happen.

Yeah, Dodgers letting him walk could be a wakeup call for him

His swing was never the same since he dislocated his shoulder in the WS. Even though his shoulder got healthy, he never got his MVP swing mechanics back. Muncy is going through a similar situation with his elbow. Hopefully, they both can figure it out and find success.

Do you think the leg injury has anything to do with his mechanics at this point? I know I am pretty harsh on him, but watching a nosedive like this is kind of painful.

Belli did not have a substantial leg injury to my knowledge, but I can see where a dislocated shoulder injury could still be influencing his swing mechanics, which probably influenced his confidence at the plate as well. Hopefully, he figures it out.

He got spiked on accident early in the year and had a broken bone in his plant leg. I wondered if maybe he came back too soon and possibly altered his mechanics.

https://www.insider.com/mlb-used-two-balls-again-this-year-and-evidence-points-to-a-third-2022-12
It’s not a theory, mlb actually admitted to using two balls this year. MLB admitted to switching to a more “juiced” ball at the end of May as offense was not where they wanted to see it. Strikeouts were at an all time high early and homers were down to late 80’s levels. Baseball will need to use the more juiced ball to counteract the high velocity that we are seeing. Otherwise the game will be miserable to watch.
