So....when is the MLB 23 cover athlete going to be revealed?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at this time last year, Shohei Ohtani was already revealed just weeks before. And when SDS usually start their gameplay reveal streams?

I don't see it being Mike... not sure if it's contractual or if he just doesn't want to do it but I can't see it being him... it needs to be somebody that has a buzz about that that will make casuals say "yeah he's exciting"... Julio Rodriguez, Pete Alonso (homer pick)... not sure if the colors have anything to do with it but if I had to pick I'd go with one of those guys unless we get our first Pitcher Only on the cover but not sure who that would be... or they go the legend route again like with Ken Griffey Jr and give us someone like Derek Jeter along with his first appearance in The Show since retirement.

I'm not sure if the 23 in the graphic is meant to be the edition of the game or if it's supposed to be the uni number of the player. Either way, the colors change to what could be either the Marlins or the Padres.
Seeing that Tatis is 23, and in light of his history and already being on the cover, I don't see it being him. There isn't a notable Marlins player that wears (or wore 23).
It is usually a player who created a buzz the previous year. Since Judge was on it just a few years ago, that leaves Pujols or Rodriguez. They could go retired (besides Pujols), and go with Mattingly or Sanberg. Trout is always a buzz, but you'd think we would have seen him before now if he was going to be the cover. There was some talk that maybe they would go into the Negro League for players - which would be AWESOME - and since they just had Jackie, the next logical would be Paige. He would be the first pitcher on the cover too.
We will have to wait and see, but it is fun to think about all the players it can be.

Yeah the 23 is definitely for MLB The Show 23... I was trying to figure out the colors but couldn't really place them. Definitely curious if any players made any social media post about being in San Diego recently. Mauer got back to back covers but that was before The Show really exploded and now with it having more visibility being on PS5/PS4 and XBox Series/XBox One doubling back to put Aaron Judge on the cover definitely makes sense especially after the season he had... he's also more popular than Mike Trout as only MLB fans and players that play The Show every year would know who he is... and we just had Ohtani on the cover so I can' t see them going back to back with an Angels player.
