reasonable 2 year contract with a vesting option for a 3rd year. Verlander and Scherzer are reunited.
Define reasonable..
2 years seems like a reasonable time frame but I have a hard time reconciling 43 million a year as reasonable for any one player.
I don't think their super rich owner cares about money
Well, they might care a little, especially if he gets hurt early, but I just said that I personally have a hard time seeing it as reasonable .
Reasonable as to what Verlander was asking for, I think he was asking for a longer deal at the begging of free agency, I agree even though he's coming off a Cy Young year this is a big gamble, but the Mets had to do something after losing DeGrom.

Giving that kind of money to a 40-year-old pitcher who just had TJ sounds nuts, but he was as good as he's ever been last year so who knows. Good for him, I guess. Seeing Scherzer and Verlander back together is going to be pretty cool.
If the Mets had to choose between Verlander and deGrom, I think they made the right choice. deGrom is the best pitcher on the planet...on the rare occasion that he's healthy enough to take the mound. He's got a lot miles on his arm after his first TJ, and he keeps throwing harder and harder every year. No reason to think he is going to be a Cy Young winner at 39 the way Verlander just was. I think the Rangers are going to really regret that contract very soon. The Seager and Semien contracts don't look very good, either. Lots and lots of money tied up in three guys whose best seasons are behind them. The Rangers had a shot at a really solid rebuild, but they seem to be making foolish decision after foolish decision. For example, why go out and spend $500m on two aging middle infielders when your best prospects are all infielders? Why trade for Mitch Garver when you've got Sam Huff idling in AAA? Now the Rangers have basically backed themselves into a corner where they're going to have to trade Justin Foscue, Sam Huff or Jonah Heim, Josh Smith, and probably more, and I rarely see the Rangers win trades. Oh well.

TheGoaler should be happy.
Somewhat!
But Chris Russo on MLB Net said he wasn't exactly Sandy Koufax in the Postseason.
I wanted him on the Mets years ago. We do get Kate Upton, sort of as well 🤪 -

Let's get one thing straight.. nobody is making reasonable money in MLB. $43M a year is absurd for any human being much less one who gets to play a kids game. But, I understand the world in which we live amd love this sport so I accept this mind blowing concept.
Ok, got that out of system. Within the construct of the ridiculous baseball market, Verlander just came off a Cy Young and WS title. If any pitcher is gonna make that, it's him. I think 2 years is the reasonable aspect.

The Rangers are the Bizarro Pirates.

They ought to get 3 good years out of him. When he's 41, he can sign with the Bucs.

And what I find funny is that it was the Bucs that drafted him out of HS in the 20th round of 2011 before the Pads picked him up in the first round (#13 overall) in 2014!
