H/9 IRRELEVANT in DD
-
Here's something interesting that I came across. In the strategy guide it gives 2 pieces of information. 1) A player with a 70 contact and 99 power will hit more flyballs than a player with a 99 contact and 99 power. 2) A good H/9 for a pitcher will decrease the hitters contact, but will not do anything to their power. Therefore, a pitcher with a good H/9 will give up more flyballs than someone with a low H/9. And when dealing with power hitters which is the majority of DD teams, more flyballs means more home runs. Therefore, theoretically a pitcher with a bad H/9 may be better than a pitcher with a good H/9 in DD because the majority of runs scored in online are produced by home runs. Obviously, you will give up a few more singles per game, but you will give up less home runs, theoretically, with someone with a bad H/9.
-
They said it themselves that HR/9 does not come into play in DD. The number one reason for this is because no matter who you have, if you square up any good or bad pitcher the ball should be hit hard or gone. Giving the pitcher the power to keep the ball in the park was unrealistic when you squared up a ball.

Except he didnt mention HR per 9.
I guess that explains guys like joey gallo

Kinda figured that lol. My quarantine just started 10 hours ago. "Not me, Im in my prime." <---- Please read that in your Val Kilmer Doc Holiday voice.

they tried to make it work last year and failed so it was removed.
If they used day 1 hitting and the HR/9 stat from last year that may have been the perfect balance
-
I was in the minority that liked HR/9 at the beginning last year. It made contact hitters actually relevant. Power bats could still wreck good HR/9 pitchers, just wasn't a home run derby like everyone wants.
-
HR/9 doesn’t do anything at all this year they’ve said this is streams before launch..H/9 affects pci size
-
That's my point. HR/9 doesn't do anything and H/9 affects the PCI and the contact rating, so good H/9 theoretically will give up more home runs than bad H/9 because they induce more flyballs.
-
Smaller pci makes it harder for your opponent to dot up your pitches
-
Not sure I follow the logic here. Higher H/9 = smaller PCI = harder to achieve a good contact result/less margin for error. Where do you get the idea that H/9 increases fly ball rate?

I'm having a hard time following also but I believe he means that if you actually square up the ball with the PCI more balls will leave the yard because the PCI is actually smaller and it will be mainly power in that contact. Whereas if the PCI is bigger it will induce more base hits but less fly balls. However on the flip side is that if the PCI is smaller it should be harder to get hits. This is too much for my brain. I still think the hardest part on Hall of Fame and legend is squaring up the ball with the speeds so I would still want my opponent to have the smallest PCI possible. however if Joey Gallo gets his PCI near the ball, more than likely it is leaving the yard because of his power. Most people cannot do that in the higher difficulties with ease so I see both sides of this.

Yeah I mean if someone is amazing at putting the PCI on the ball, I feel like they're gonna get a lot of home runs regardless. Idk, my head hurts trying to figure this out
-
It straight up says in the strategy guide that lower contact means more fly balls. Yes, there will obviously be more hits when the opponent has a bigger PCI, but the majority of DD runs are via the home run, and more fly balls means more home runs.

H/9 does not affect pci size, that is k/9
-
HR/9 maybe should I pack on perfect/perfect but should on all else. This game at one point was serviceable. It is kinda trash now

H/9 does affect PCI size, the inner circle. K/9 affects the outer circle.
