MLB23 can't come fast enough...
-
I have lined out n have given up my last 1st pitch homerun to MLB The Show 22. I hope next year we can get something better. Here's a few things that need to be addressed:
- Nerf 1st pitch hitting
- Outside the zone pitches should not be hit with 101-104 exit velos
- Stop having the pitchers confidence be so full after a flurry of hits, have it deplete faster or more if he's getting knocked around.
- Elevations should be more realistic besides just giving up homeruns, maybe add the "wind" option in the game if your playing online
- Enough with "super dotting", pitching should not be "perfect", put the setting to "varied" where if the pitch is in the zone or not its not so accurate to be a strike or not.
- Night games in online play
- If it's a perfect perfect or good/good with solid pci placement n timing reward that hit
- Have a more selection of relief pitchers so we don't burn our closers
These are just a sample of ideas, but i'm not playing MLB22 anymore, the game is not rewarding to me enough to try anymore. Therefore i have burned the disc and wish u all the best in the next few months.

Remember all the posts before pinpoint was introduced in 21 when people would go on and on about not rewarding perfect placement enough?
I ‘member…

I to want pitching to be more rng because I'm bad at aiming when using the pci, I'm glad you brought that up. Make balls down the middle way more! /S

You have to remember that this post comes from a "centerswinger" who calls all his opponents "centerswingers" for not swinging at his pitches outside the strike zone!

there must be a middle ground here where you have the pitching motions be dictated by the user, and then the pitcher statistics dictate the randomization or "how accurate" - if a pitchers control is poor, then that should reflect in the game however perfect your delivery is

Any middle ground will just make one side unhappy tbh, and that principal can be applied to just about any problem with this game

How so? Your input only matters if the pitcher has control? The input matters side won't see that as a solution

How dare you guys swing at the first pitch, it's terrible and obviously not fair to him.

are you daft? did you read what i wrote? let me copy paste because it's unbelievable how you couldn't comprehend what i said before -

He did read what you wrote and asked a relevant question that exposed the gaping hole in your logic. You can either answer or acknowledge the fact that your idea needs to go back to the drawing board.

Uh, that's what the pitching PAR is. That translucent circle that represents the landing area of the pitch given perfect input. It's based on pitchers' stats. A pitcher with poor control and/or BB/9 will have a much bigger one, representing that even on perfect input it might not go exactly where you want it to.
Some pitchers' pars are the size of the baseball because their control is so good. Most have pars about 1/8 to 1/4 size of the zone. If I perfect pitch a slider with Chapman with the ball on the bottom corner, it could still land out of the zone or even close to the middle of the plate.
That's plenty random.
The real problem is mathematical. We have pitchers with 125/125 going up against hitters with 125/125. That leads to RNG Hell.

that is fascinating and thank you for the explanation on this - everything you said makes total sense - i didn't know that and there are so many variables here in how they program it - plus i use meter pitching so i don't see that circle you mention

948 of 5215 (over 18% or nearly 1 in every 5) homeruns in 2022 regular season came on the first pitch of an at bat. The 0-0 count had the most homeruns of any count. (Link)
6562 of 39677 (16.5%) of all hits in the 2022 regular season came on the 0-0 count, which was the most of any pitch count. (link)
4198 of 25877 (16.2%) of all singles in the 2022 regular season came on the first pitch, again 0-0 count number one for all counts. (link)
1305 of 7942 (16.4%) of all doubles in the 2022 regular season came on the first pitch, which of course makes the 0-0 count the pitch count with the most doubles (link)
111 of 643 (17.2%) of all triples in the 2022 regular season came on the first pitch of the at bat, and you guessed it...the 0-0 count had more triples than any other pitch count. (link)
Yep, this OP whining and crying about nothing again. Gotta love stats that prove people are whining about the game playing out like what happens in real life MLB. The game is far from perfect, but this is nonsensical whining on the OP's part.

most of this list is no problem. Especially "good good" should be a hit every time...i don't agree, but I do agree that it should be a higher chance of a hit than current. I also think pitcher confidence has too much weight on the outcome of hits, it should only affect pitch accuracy. I also know of the PAR, but I still think it is too easy to dot pitches regardless

I just hope we get something big for 23 as 22 was a let down of co - op was biggest thing and no rewards a total let down hope add like weekend league r something

The last two years for SDS was all about xbox and nintendo. They have a virtual monopoly and now they have it on all systems. I predict things will go the way of Madden in the 2010's.
I hope not. But I think that's where things are headed....
