It actually feels like the playoffs this time! Usually the WC just feels like a play-in. Because one game is not a playoff round or series. Glad they changed it up.
Especially because we get a chance to come back tomorrow haha.

What a comeback by the Phillies
I'd call is less of a comeback by the Phillies and more of a giveaway by the Cardinals. Why they left Helsley in so long is beyond my comprehension. It was pretty obvious that he was having issues two or three batters in a row. He was not missing the strike zone by small amounts. Those were some ugly pitches he was throwing in the 9th.

Meanwhile, a few hours later....
Us Mets fans are stunned at getting slammed by San Diego.
It's crazy how earlier, maybe around 12 noon, I heard 'A night to remember' by Shalamar on the radio. Boy is it ever.
Scherzer got smacked around and I just knew Yu would be tough.
Let's see what Saturday brings.
You can't script October!I didn’t see the game, but I thought Scherzer was going to shut them down. Luckily it’s a best out of 3.

It was a comeback, harper was down 1-2 and had 3 real nasty chase pitches that he laid off of, helsley didnt fall apart until after the harper walk.
JTs hit fired them up and the phils took it, cards didnt blow it -

Wow that was painful. Yikes our BP looked awful. Bats couldn't do a thing either. I'm really hoping for some Cardinals magic tomorrow but this was about the worst outcome to be expected.
Yeah everything that could have went bad there DID, lock down closer coughs up the lead, gold glove 2B boots a grounder that he gets 99% of the time. Goldy tries to gun out a speedy FORMER CARDINAL at home, fails. Arenado makes a rare error on a routine grounder...just wow

Yeah that loss is 100% on Marmol's foolish decisions. I dont even blame Helsley, he was hurt and actually got his routine 3 outs. Then the idiot mgr puts in a rookie in a very high stakes situation, expecting a DP but the IF is played in. Flaherty makes more sense in that situation than Pallante.

A Cubs fan talking mess, been a looong tme since I've seen that haha
It's all fun and games. I'll probably cry if the Cardinals sign Willson Contreras this off-season, so don't feel bad.
Haha fair enough

I'm not as sold on Flaherty as you seem to be. He has only pitched 36 innings. In those 36 innings he has given up 36 hits and walked 17 for a whip of 1.611
They needed to turn 2 and try and avoid a sac fly. Pallante's GB percentage is 64.4% compared to Flaherty's 41.1

Arenado hasn’t done anything in the playoffs his entire career.

To be fair he did have one of the Cardinals 5 hits yesterday and he hit one that, if it happened in The Show people would come to the forum and complain about it. He tattooed one that was 103 off the bat that just died in the air for a fly out.

Yeah he acted like he hit a bomb and it was 20 feet short of the warning track.
Love the guy and it sucked when he left the Rockies, but he just hasn’t been able to come through in the playoffs for either squad.

To be fair it wasn't just him as I think most people who saw that swing assumed it would be a HR. I did.
And it may very well be that he is a playoff cursed player for both teams but he has only played in 7 post season games and only two of those for STL. I am willing to give him some more games before I come to a verdict.
And I think that we both have to admit that he is a big reason why the Rockies and Cardinals made it to the playoffs in the first place.

Yeah, no blame on Arenado solely. Goldy stopped hitting a month ago. None of the other bats looked even remotely dangerous until Yepez hit that HR and then they started to stage a comeback in the 9th. I really hope this isn't Pujols and Molina's last game but if is.....what a ride.

that Arenado bomb looked like it should have been 15 rows deep.there was 8 of them from both teams that would have been out but didnt even make it to the track with that wind

Goldy picked a TERRIBLE time frame to start sh*tting the bed

There has not been much positive to take from these two games. We actually outhit the Phillies 12 hits to 9 in the two games is about it..
Most telling is that our 3, 4 and 5 hitters went a combined 1 for 22 and left 13 runners on base in the two games.
The team apparently peaked in August and never really got hot again.
Congrats Phillies. Good luck against Atlanta.

Thanks.
Cards really fought back in those last couple innings, made em earn it. -
Mets hold on to live another day!
deGrom pitched gutty.
Diaz made two nice defensive plays.
Ottavino looked scared out there, but closed it out. -
