Can't find friend on different console through the friends search

I (Switch) am trying to send a friend request to my buddy(PS5) but neither of our usernames come up when we search. We both have crossplay on and also have our platform accounts linked to The Show accounts. Is there something we're missing here?

I don't think you can send a Friend Request to someone on a different type of console. Has to be the same console.

I don't think you can send a Friend Request to someone on a different type of console. Has to be the same console.

This is not true. You can had a friend on XBox if you have a Playstation through the game app.

But does the game app apply over to the consoles themselves?

I have no friends, so this doesn't apply to me. I'm just curious.

I have some FB friends with boxes that play on a switch. They keep asking me for money, but I said only if they play with me.
