No the game is not dead. Far from it. The real players remain and also keep in mind that now xbox, switch, and playstation all have players.

All i have seen on twitter is how this years madden is nothing but the same old trash. Just because you’re bored doesn’t mean the games dead. It’s a countdown until they start releasing the real juicy cards…we’re just beginning

I haven't played Madden in years but at one point I'd play 2K, Madden and The Show and really only head to head with friends.
To the OP's point, I do think The Show has had some misses recently most notably Griffey but I think that is just part 1 of a much bigger program.
It's the same BS as the console war stuff. It's this need to say one thing is better an that this one thing (madden) is the best because it made people choose it over the other thing(MLB)
It's all dumb play what makes you happy, I am playing Lego Star Wars for the next 3 days since I got all the bosses.

No.
Its the same every year. A group of MLB The Show players bolt for the newest and shiniest Madden.
The rest of us continue to play MLB The Show.
Me, personally. I have no desire to go to Madden.

I still cannot figure out how to play Baseball in Madden. So I will stuck around. If I want to play NFL I will play Madden. But no desire to play football right now that's for sure. Temps have to drop at least below 100 for me to consider thinking of football.

People just like to declare things, I guess.
I still play EASHL in NHL, and this.
Now that I hit 500K in the program, I'm free to play F122, hopefully get all GT7 trophies, and try to get the super grindy Train Sim World 2 Platinum, and still play The Show when the next program comes out.
No way this game is dead in August!EDIT: I now have Gold in 3 out of 10 Super Licence tests in GT7 fwiw.

I play both and the biggest issue is time. Both games force you to stay engaged with expiring timeliness for promos. It almost becomes a job. Now if you work a real job that pays the bills you only have so much time for that second job. You have to choose one game over the other if you want to stay competitive without spending real money.

I play 2K but not MyTeam so, I’ll still play both games next month, might be a little away from MLB while I upgrade MyPlayer to 99 and get the necessary badges to play in the ProAm and The Rec with my squad.
This will happen every year, especially around this time when collections are done and most have stubs in the bank to buy cards.

NBA 2K for me. I just play myplayer/park/rec. it’s a nice change. I only get it every 2-3 years so it stays fresh for me and I haven’t had it since I’ve gotten a PS5.
Lately I’ve been getting MLB every summer because I love baseball games the most. Usually alternate between Madden and 2k towards the fall.
Madden’s lost a lot of my interest the past couple of years because of how unrealistic it is. I get that it’s a fantasy and unrealistic to have legends/current/dead players playing together but I just can’t stand the out of position stuff. The fact that Derrick Henry was the most overpowered QB from December-on was enough for me to skip at least a year. It’s also a lot harder to go NMS even just doing a strictly Broncos TT. The limiteds make average cards 4-5x what they’re worth.

Based on what? I haven't had any wait times finding online games. I would venture a guess that most switch players are offline only, so you aren't going to know how many if them are playing, and there is a pretty decent chunk that bought this game just for co-op.
