I just re-installed MLB 19 and my final record was 224-82. I was a beast then, now i suck. I doubt it is my age, its probably the poor gameplay of MLB 22. The game has gone to [censored] as soon as they changed VISION impacting PCI size vs Contact.

I’d say that the meta of this game hasn’t changed in years and now everyone knows how to play, uses monitors and the player base has expanded, So it’s even harder to be good at this game.

Yeah that all sounds very nice and logical. But the OP just said the dude struck out 18 times and only got one run, probably because an accidental home run, playing in a cast and is just a casual player.
The op is an experienced player so, I don't see how that plays into the "meta" of whatever you're talking about. If you look at 90% of the post around here you will see that a lot of people think the "meta" has absolutely changed, other than the fact that it's still a baseball game.

Im 45 and the best I ever been at this game but refuse to play H2H most of the time. It isnt any fun and as OP says isnt right. Its clear the direction the game is moving and that's fine, because I still enjoy it, I would still love to play and compete with real humans but that isnt he way this game is moving. So I still play and have fun in other ways.

My opponent In this game had all of his hitters with .250 ba and lower. He hit a solo homer bc I threw 1 fb up and in and he turned on it. I put a lot of balls in play and wasn't rewarded with any xbh.
I've been playing mlb the show since 06 and this is the lowest the game has been.
I honestly miss mlb 10-14 when I used to play with franchise with the Reds and play every game and win the world series. I'd make the same trades as the irl Reds. It was much more fun than this.
I'm thinking about going back to that for 23, bc DD isn't fun.

In mlb 22 my record is 64-35, You may say that isn't horrible, but compared to being 103-30 in MLB 19 around this time it's bad. I barely play ranked because it's just not fun anymore.
I say all of this because I just lost a ranked game 1-0, guy hit a homer with Baez and struck out 18 other times.
I lined out and grounded out a lot and only struck out 4 times. You would say well thats not too bad, he must just be a great pitcher, I would have thought so too, until I messaged him and he told me he just plays for fun, and he is WEARING A CAST!Well, it was a fun ride. Maybe one day i'll get back to my glory days, but probably not.
I was in a similar boat. In 19 I ended up top 150 and got up over 1100 one season. This year I think for the first few months I was a bit better than 500. I had heard that they game plays better on Xbox now so I picked up a series s and I can say it definitely does. My record still sucks but last season I got up to about 1040 in rs then slumped a bit down to about 980 but still way better than I played on PlayStation this year. If you still want to play competitively it may be worth the switch.

I put the ball in play on almost every swing. Good, late, early. I just couldn't score lol.
Apparently it is built to help people with .250 or lower batting averages bc those guys are the ones I lose to
