It’s fine the way it is. Reduce the pause timer, limit the number of uses, or preferentially get rid of it entirely.

The pretty simple solution is for R2 to give you the same information without effecting the pitcher at all. Using it for information has never been a problem
Idk man, I agree r2 shouldnt effect thevpitcher at all as well, but also wouldn't want to face outlier and changups in rapid fire.
Then pause or step out.

This is a good thing! People can press it long enough to set thier PCI Lock without disrupting the game. While still alleviating the quick pitch. Well done SDS
PCI lock doesn't have the same effect as R2 and wasn't why this change was made. Also quick pitching is a nonsense excuse used by R2 users to justify being toxic 98% of the time
I didn't say PCI Lock had same effect. I said people use R2 so they can lock it it in to the zone. As far as quick pitching being a nonsense excuse, well that's your opinion but there was a pretty heated debate about it last year and i think the way they balanced it this year shows they do pay attention.
Goes two way then Quick pitchers saying R2 spammers are toxic is a nonsense excuse for quick pitchers being mad b/c SDS alleviated the exploit of quick pitching problem that plagued for so many years.
And no this was not why PCI lock was implemented. PCI lock is for those who cannot move sticks fast enough or keep it steady to follow ball. Giving them a place to lock within the zone.

People spam R2 when there are no runners on base. Its impossible to "quick pitch" when no runners on base. If you are talking about wuick pitching as people balking with Kenley Jansen than I can agree on what quick pitching is considered. But people that actively cry about quick pitching most of the time just aren't good hitters and need 35 seconds to think about what pitch to flail at rather than being in the box ready to hit

Once per pitcher would be dumb. So if you leave a pitcher in a ranked game for 7+ innings I'm only allowed to check pitch history ONE time? The main issue with R2 was people tapping it to mess up the pitch which shouldn't happen now.
You have a pause button. Use it.
Yes; pause: go to stats, pitching stats, select team, then pitcher, then hitter, then current or previous AB. Rinse repeat for every hitter . That’s less annoying and time consuming than R2 for both players.
You have a game limit on pause time to stop that. In actual baseball a batter doesn’t get to see pitch history they have to remember it. They really just need to get rid of R2 entirely, as 99% of people use it for griefing and nothing else
Remember it? You don't think baseball teams employ a guy to sit in the dugout and record every pitch to every batter so they can go to him and say what did this guy throw me last at-bat?

Anyone R2ing after every pitch is either griefing or mentally challenged. If you can’t remember what pitch I just threw you a second ago, maybe you should get off DD and go to something like animal crossing.

They have tablets in the dugouts. A lot of hitters use them to see their previous at bats

If they pause on every single pitch because they need that much analysis to swing the bat, then they will run out of pause time quite quickly. So yes. And you can't pause after the pitcher selects his pitch.

Ok i'm not sure what's being considered "spamming?" I use R2 every pitch for sole purpose of setting my PCI and once it's set i release. So if people are doing it after a pitcher steps off or disrupting timing then i agree it's not necessary. But if that's the case then this update should prevent that while keeping people who use it for PCI in mind. So i still say a balanced in between solution imo.

No you can't, once pitcher is in motion none of those tools are usable if i'm not mistaken. If you can, then PCI Lock doesn't always go to the spot you want by just clicking it, mine sometimes goes to one above or beside which is why i started using R2 to put precisely where i want it.

I hardly come across any players that do this. I just wonder what you complainers are doing to make them spam R2. Are you a bunt dancer? Pause spammer? Bunt cheeser? That would make sense. What does that make someone that pauses half a dozen times per half inning?

It's really only 1 out of every 40-50 games. I just air on the side of get rid of it because 95% of my opponents don't use it at all and 4.9 of that other 5% use it in a toxic way

For the record, I don’t use R2 much at all, maybe for a second here or there to see where I was pitched last at bat. Even then it is a quick pull and release. I am not bothered by others that do the same. I do not use “pause” at all as there is no need for it in this game whatsoever. The quick menu is all that is needed for no more than maybe 10 seconds. I could pause after every single pitch for a second up to 180 pitches and still have time left over. You really want to go that route?

Well for the record i use it every pitch to setup PCI lock and no way shape or form am i trying to be toxic. But in all fairness i don't play online that much. But when i do, this is what i do. But out of curiosity, is it making game last a significant amount of time longer?

I am not arguing anything. I am an advocate of making this a better game than what it currently is. R2 is an “in game” mechanic that helps keep gameplay moving. “Pause” does not, it halts the game and puts one player at the mercy of the “pauser”. There is no reason to pause the game, it should be either removed or limited. I shouldn’t have to sit there and watch the timer because 1) you were not ready to play 2) you are mad because you are getting beat 3) you need to watch a tik tok video. I have yet to hear why pause is needed. If you get rid of R2, people will pause and gameplay will be much less enjoyable.
