I am definitely not a fan of some of the changes this year to the program structures and find myself playing less this year. I won't even reach the first boss pack this program.
I am not criticizing them too harshly for the changes though as they would have been crucified for being lazy had they just rolled out the same exact program formats as last year. The changes just don't work that well for me, but that is a personal thing. I am retired so I do have the time if I choose to use it on the game but I feel like they have prolonged the grind for the sake of prolonging the grind.
But good luck and and I hope you find some other enjoyable games to fill the void with.
Agreed, and thank you!
I have been promoted to a HS head coach, so that will take a lot of time over the summer, and winter months. I play games as a way to wind down after a long day/week of teaching. I do have plenty of other games I enjoy. I'm just sad this game has fallen so quickly. I hope you enjoy the game this year, and go CARDS!

I'm not a big fan of the new way of content, but it's something I'm still going to play, I need to. I don't find a lot of joy on my downtime outside of work, so if I stopped playing MLBTS, I'm not even sure what I'd do
-
So long old timer. You won't be missing much. Gameplay is completely horrendous this year, and content is lacking to say the very least. You are spot on about the market and programs. They killed so many ways we made Stubs. The game is transitioning closer to all the other sports games on the market.

some years this game only lasts me a month and others it will last me for 6-8 months it seem to vary every year

It's definitely a step backwards, at least as far as fun goes.
I keep reading that so many people are happy TA is gone because it was too easy and provided too many good rewards. Thing is, I don't remember those posts last year. Mostly I remember people eagerly looking forward to the new TA program every 2-3 months, myself included.
The monthly awards are not bad now, but they are definitely a longer grind. I also don't and can't understand how SDS chose Rizzo to be the POTM (MLB picked JRam and Arenado and I understand they didn't want to give another high diamond to either) knowing they were releasing Delgado and Mattingly within the next week. Logan Gilbert and Pablo Lopez were sitting right there. Also, teasing a legend MA card 3 weeks in advance is not a good move. By the time we unlocked Dawson, and probably Rice next month, the card was already passed by in terms of viability. I used him for the 500 pxp required and probably won't ever again.
I never bothered much with the market, and last year didn't have to since stubs were plentiful, but that's another aspect negatively impacted by their decisions. It's just a general tone of taking away from their customers and really paints a picture of heading down the EA/2K path.

I"m right there with you. I wasn't going to buy last year and I caved in June. Quit in August then came back in December.
I regret buying the game this year. It's the only video game I play. It's not worth the headache. All I've ever played were sports games online and this game has turned into a circus.
You had to have stick skills in NHL and Madden if you wanted to compete online. Here we give out participation trophies. 16 pitch AB's are proof of that.
The only reason they came up with Pinpoint Pitching is to use the phrase "stick skills" with this game. It's always been a push button RNG/DDA fest.

Yes, this isn't an airport, and no I don't need to announce my departure, but I will anyway.
This has always been my favorite sports game, but I'm done, and very quickly. I understand the frustrations others have, and I absolutely respect those of you who grind through the game despite the problems.
It's just not fun anymore, they removed all the content we love, they killed the market, and the programs, while enjoyable at times, are far too time consuming for working adults.
Thanks for the entertainment here, I appreciate all of you who contribute to the forums in an attempt to make the game better.
I wont be playing this this year, or in future years, hopefully there will be competition when it comes to baseball games in the future, there's a lot of potential out there!
Good luck all, and I hope you enjoy the year!
i fully appreciate your headspace mate. ive played this game for 15 years and this is by far the least i am playing now - as we age and have real life stuff to do, this game just cannot compete with that
i think i am 5-1 in RS right now, and a spattering of other little games here and there - very little and its just a poor game in the end - bits of fun in small small doses !!!!

Agreed, but I will say that the only year the game lost me quicker was '18.
The sad thing is that I probably already have more stubs than I have ever held at one time before. Maybe it's SDS showing their team preference but I have pulled three diamonds in the last couple of weeks, two copies of Tatis (both which I have sold) and a Machado, which I think I will hold onto so that I can see how he fares in the next update.

Generally never comment on posts like this.....but....I 100% agree with you. This is by far the worst iteration of MLB the Show since I started playing it in 2016 (And 2018 was really bad, so that's saying something).
The "franchise" is literally going backwards, and all of the needless changes have made it even worse. Not to mention of horrendous hitting engine, constant diving stops and catches, etc, etc.
Getting rid of Team Affinity and Innings programs was a horrible choice, and the changes to POTM month programs are awful.
I'll keep playing as its the only game I play, but I may go back to play 20 and just play franchise at my own pace with the players and rosters I like at some point if they don't make some changes soon.
Lastly, I've always been a HUGE supporter of SDS, but as much as other possible choices don't seem great, I think they desperately need some healthy competition to push them and their product forward, and stop mailing it in each year. I hope it happens soon

I agree with everything said on here. I feel like it's just very blah this year and nothing that MAKES you want to play.
Don't get me wrong, I play, but only because I spent my annual $100 and it's pretty much all I play since other franchises have been run into the ground for various reasons.
Anyway I'll continue playing but the fun sure is lacking this year. -

I coach High School Athletics, so I get my sports fix outside of video games, but I will miss it.
I do love open world games, so I'll be grinding those at my own pace, I NEED my video game escape to survive the stress of real life

Last year was my first year and man was it a ton of fun! ( except for daily moments which I just avoided)
This year, though, the game is simply inconsistent.
For example in pitching, I canāt tell you the number of times I aim a fastball high and inside and the pitch is straight down the middle of the plate. MLB pitchers simply wouldnāt miss that far off.In hitting, I canāt tell you the number of perfect/perfect with 100+ velocity that are outs. IMO, they should be hits. Homers? Maybe. Hits? Definitely. They happen so infrequently that you should be rewarded.
I canāt tell you the number of dumb base running decisions the CPU makes. Just now, max sherzer on second base tried to score on a routine fly ball to right!
Again, the gameplay is just inconsistent.
This year feels like āworkā when I play. I spend more time yelling at my TV than cheering.
Iāve said this before, make the game on rookie easier! Take away the rewards. Iām fine with that. Most nights, I want to log in. Drink a beverage and hit homers. Youāve taken that away from me this year. By and large.
Or better yet, make the game so easy on rookie that I get tired of scoring so many runs and want to advance to the next level. Right now, the inconsistency are such that I donāt go above veteran. Encourage me thru my gameplay skills to want to play at higher levels.
Make the game harder in higher levels. Give them better rewards. Iām fine with that too. I donāt need nor expect to get every card.
Ok, rant with several beverages in me over!!
