Can your attribute caps not go above 50? I haven’t really played rtts in a couple years, but you used to be able to train to raise the caps.
So I can’t do it now, and at the end of the second year of my career, my guy is basically done improving (outside of useless attributes like bunting)? What’s the point?
Yes I can use perks, but they’re ridiculous. One of my silver perks gives like a +30 contact and speed? I’m failing to see the point of archetypes if every attribute cap is at 50 and I can just get perks by opening packs
Kind of a shame.. I was really starting to get into it too
You can have 2-4 perks depending on your archetype level. That added to your equipment and what you have built up from 30-50 should get you over 100 in a few categories. So it would be 50+archetype+perks+equipment. We just can't level each attribute to 100 anymore like 20 and before. At least this year you can save up to 10 careers and all archetypes and perks earned will still be available. You just still have to start from the beginning on attribute points.
I know perks and equipment give you ratings boosts, I just don’t like that they HAVE to be used. I’d rather have my player develop naturally rather than arbitrary perks and equipment giving me stat boosts that don’t make sense

How do they not make sense?
If you wear cleats, don't you run faster than if you wear loafers? Also, they don't have to be used. You can choose to not equip them. I think you can still reach a rating of around 80 without archetypes and perks.

I get what you're saying, and you make a valid point. It has to do with being able to use with DD. A lot of hardcore RTTS users hate the new system, and some parts I do too. However, a created player with all 99 attributes and equipment would make it a player that would be too OP for anyone to use for DD. Everyone would have a catcher or pitcher that would make steals or hits almost impossible. This way you can have a player that your team needs that will not ruin DD. My guess is that it was always intended to be put in online play but the initial product wouldn't work as is. So far this year I have not even used one of my created players in DD and I probably won't.
It sucks in many ways, but I really like that I have a clear path to equipment. I just finished getting all the pieces I wanted while little was paid with stubs. Overall, I like the new system better. I don't like DD this year, but I'm having more fun trying new things in MTO and RTTS.

Give me the option to have Classic RTTS and new RTTS. One I have no gear boosts, no archetype boosts, but I can allocate stats as I wish, and the other is what we have now.
Indeed not everything I this game has to be linked to DD

Yes... Yes it does.
Why, rtts has is own fan base. Some only buy this game for rtts, it should be a stand alone game mode like it always was
Cap players should be created in DD if people want that, and let them progress in online games

I agree with you. I was just kidding around. But if you ask SDS they will absolutely tell you it has to be linked.

The not making sense was more directed to the perks than equipment, however.. no I don’t think having one type of cleat over another really impacts speed that much, we’re not comparing it to wearing loafers. Do you really think a silver perk should increase my contact attribute by 39? The other smaller perks that increase it a few points are fine, but that main perk seems a bit excessive. I’d just rather develop my player rather than rely on perks pulled from packs
As I stated I’m at the cap, or just south of the cap for all of my attributes. My lowest attribute is a 40 for bunt/drag bunt, and my only other attributes that aren’t at the cap are power l/r (both at 49) discipline (43), durability (47) and vision (47). My guy is a 57 overall without the perks (equipment still on).. maybe those get me to 80 when capped, though I’m doubting it

My clutch has been maxed for I don't know how long, but I still get challenges to boost my clutch... I wish there was a way to skip that stuff.

I think I'm starting to understand. You are talking about the archetype instead of the perks. The perks are the ones that only raise it around 4 points on a few different attributes. Think of the archetype more as choosing what type of ballplayer you are. The old system had "The anomaly" which was a fast power hitter similar to Griffey. That is actually an archetype on here. It starts out as "speedy slugger," then turns to gold "speedy slugger," then finally, gold and diamond "The Anomaly." Archetypes add points to attributes similar to the old system with their upgrades instead of just being faster to upgrade. Press the triangle button with the archetype highlighted and you'll see that every attribute has been raised according to that archetype.
I apologize if I'm coming off as condescending, I don't mean to. My wife used to get on me about that.

No, didn’t come off as condescending.. I figured it was me not being clear. Yes I meant archetype, I actually figured out what that was a few days ago. I still don’t like it much though, I prefer the old way of progressing. Oh well

Yeah, as usual my problem with SDS is changing the entire system and not allowing an option to use the old system. Most RTTS people hated the move to archetypes. And now making RTTS changes so DD CAPs aren't OP is just nonsense. They should be two different things or just limit the ballplayers abilities in DD. If someone wants to work to get their ballplayer max in all categories playing the cpu to play the cpu, DD should not be a factor in that at all.
The game is supposed to be fun and making changes that make the game less fun is a bad idea. I'm not a huge RTTS guy, but once you are capped at 50, which I imagine doesn't take too long, then what? I always thought RTTS gets too boring and repetitive when its just about playing games and accumulating stats. Working to boost your attributes gives you a reason to keep going and once it's maxed out it starts to be no fun. Especially just using the same player over and over. Obviously that's just my feelings.
