I beat Degrom putting up I think it was 11 runs while only using 2 outs, it’s not a cheat.
Well good for you mate.
I beat Degrom just know with 4 outs left.
Tough MTF

Good job, if the game was cheating you wouldn't win, good job getting it done.

I hate to agree but Degrom is a cheat
I’ve finished 1st inning showdown on first try and finished other division showdowns, got 9 team affinity’s, but the 3 times I faced Degrom i get cheated.
Why? Because I was patient, wore him down to over 100 pitches with energy in red and non existent confidence, and each time I was about 2-3 runs from victory THAT is when he goes super saiyen and dots pitches like crazy, doesn’t walk anyone and squared up pitches are all outs. Sorry but that IS cheating. If he is like that at the start and you have to wear him down that would be fine but not at the end with zero energy and confidence, that’s a cheat code.
I agree with this. I haven’t done that NL east one but I think all the boss pitchers are WAY too effective with little energy.
It’s not even close to how pitchers are impacted when we are using them, and in that sense, I agree, it is rigged. If the pitchers confidence and stamina worked like it does to the user pitchers, these modes would be no challenge at all.

@Saberq269 said in Something needs to be done about Showdown cheating:
What the hell SDS?
Seriously?
How long do we have to play this cheating mode until you patch it and make it balanced?
I just lost to Degrom in NL East final Showdown scoring only 3 runs.I hit into 4 bases loaded double plays on pitching up in the zone.
I hit into more double plays in Showdown than I have in RS in the last 4 years.
But the WORST part of Showdown is a cheating pitching AI.
NOBODY I repeat NOBODY can paint corners on the dots over and over and over and over again all Showdown long.
This never happens in Conquest,Play VS CPU,RS,BR ect....
It ONLY happens in Showdown. It's not that it's difficult it's that is rigged against me.
I have beaten every Showdowns multiple times but I always feel like I am playing against an invisible force that rigged the game against me.I can't just be skilled at the game,I have to be lucky and pray the game let's me win sometimes.
Degrom wouldn't walk him today.I had twelve 3-2 counts and he threw a perfect change up or a silder on the dot to strike me out.Nobody can do that.
Fix this mode.Screw it remove it if you can't fix it.But I am being charged 1000 stubs to play a mode that is clearly rigged against the player.Mind you it's beatable but it's not only up to you.
I usually have no issues but it was pissing me off last night lining into double plays where the 1b catches it and tags your runner at same time 3 [censored] times vs cole when I needed 2 runs on perfect perfects

You’re waaaay overthinking it lol
He's not overthinking anything. He realizes the AI is controlling the game and he feels like a pawn watching all his invested time being pizzed away . I've been there, I know exactly what he's trying to relate. I don't call it cheating, It's a designed part of the software engine. It's got triggers that kick-in a "virtual wall" that will keep a player from having any chance of winning a game. And when this kicks in you very OBVIOUSLY see the change in play.
I posted this a couple days ago. In one of the 12 out to score 4 runs Showdowns. First 2 guys in my lineup get singles and Helton crushes one to give me 3 of the 4 with the same 12 outs to go. And, I wasn't even trying. They were ultimate gopher balls all 3 that I tagged.
The AI trigger clicks and from that point on I couldn't hardly touch the ball. Fast-balls that were coming right through the middle of the zone that I supposedly "swung through" as the AI narrative likes to say. I didn't even get another hit. Just wanted to grab the person who wrote this code by the throat and say "Please get it together..no one in all of gaming land likes this silly [censored] even one bit".

I’m sorry to come to the conclusion but anyone who complains about Showdown.. you’re just not that good and you need to practice.
Never thought I’d be a “get good” kind of guy, but seriously. Any decent player who’s failing at the Showdown can eventually adjust and succeed without much issue. Or at least can recognize what they are doing wrong and work on it.
Anyone who’s complaining, needs to really analyze how they are playing this game. Be self critical instead of accusing the AI of cheating.

This won’t be a popular opinion - but I actually like that showdown is hard. A lot of the grinding in this game can become very auto-pilot...success is inevitable as long as you plod along and go through the motions. Showdown is A) a challenge and B) has consequences - it really sucks to go through all that to lose at the end.
Ive probably done 12 - 15 showdowns, and have won 6 times plus first inning...and that’s fine. It’s a nice change from the inevitability of finishing conquest, or finishing every moment on the first or second try. It reminds me of the “Moments Extreme” from last year - not everyone can do it, and it won’t be easy.
Anyway, just my 2 cents - good luck guys.

I am a good player.That's why I beat it over 30 times.I just hate it's not fair

Some people don't want that though, they want the mindless grinds that we used to have, tally x amount of hits so just put the game on rookie and play at Coors and watch the numbers roll up, I love showdown it's my favourite offline mode, for some you actually have to put some effort in and not just mindlessly grind it and they don't like that and they play accordingly, which leads to a lot of failed showdowns.

I don’t think it’s unfair. There’s some flukey stuff - guys make insane plays on defense, etc...but it goes both ways. Just the other day I won the AL west because Correa bobbled a routine grounder. Guy on third...last out...I’m at 15 runs...grounder right at Correa. I was literally about to spike my controller and go about my day, when he botched it: safe at first, run scores, I win and get Matt Olson. It was sweet. That “shouldn’t happen” and it did - because random things happen. And I have no problem with the best pitchers in the game dotting me up...they are supposed to be hard to hit.
I don’t think your opinion is unreasonable - I just don’t agree the game is rigged.

I agree 100% regarding the pitchers constantly being able to dot the corners over and over for strikes, especially with 2 strikes. I’m usually pretty patient at the plate but this makes it a bit more difficult to be as patient as normal.

I still remember when I gave up on the NL East Showdown. I had a 13-15 start, and only one person got on base (He was hit by pitch). deGrom threw about 130 pitches, the vast majority were in the zone, and I had double digit popups, one of which had no business being a popup. At that point I said screw it and did the Braves and mets M2O

That’s crazy. I’ve done the NL East twice now and it is by far the easiest one I’ve done. First time through I beat DeGrom with all 20 outs remaining. Only failing the very last mission of the whole run, so I was only down 2.
You get guys like Soto, Conforto, McNeil, Freeman, even that Klesko isn’t bad vs Righties.

I've completed it a bunch, enough to get Nola, Soto, and most of Conforto, but the struggle against Scherzer wasn't worth it. the horrible luck against deGrom was just the killer

I just did that battle versus Scott Oberg in the first inning one.
I got the leadoff guy on, then hit a bomb with the next guy. Oberg’s confidence is way down.Three batters later I have a runner on second (Votto double) and two out (out of first five hitters) and Oberg’s confidence is back up to half.
He continued to throw dots the entire rest of the way.
Fortunately I was able to drive the winning run in, but wow, if only I could pitch like the cpu, not to mention the well hit good/ok outs.
-
I just replayed 1st inning showdown for fun.I got to Oswalt 13-15 and loaded the bases with 13 outs to go and lost.
I hit into 4 double plays and the best part is that I got to 15-15 man on 3rd 3 outs and i hit a single and the runner on 3rd base doesn't move at all.Never runs to home plate. And I struck out and hit into another double play.
If I haven't beaten it already I would have uninstalled the game right there.
The moment I loaded the bases Oswalt went God Mode and shut me out.The game said I can't win

Yea no way the reigning back to back 2x Cy Young award winner keeps hitting the corners and getting you to bounce into double plays. Has to be rigged.
I mean the guy has only broke countless records the past two seasons in regards to E.R.A. but that has nothing to do with it. Has to be rigged.

You're doing that thing again, where you're trying to inject realism into an arcade style game mode. He is a great pitcher, but even he never recorded 9 straight popups with the bases loaded while tied at 15 a piece

I just lost to Greinke after hitting the ball hard for the first six batters consecutively. One went for a home run, but good/good, good/squared, and good/ok out out out.
I think, realistically, there is luck involved. You can put good swing after good swing on the ball, and it is still possible to not succeed. Some of you will say, “That’s baseball”.
Actually though, this is a video game. Eventually, if you do it enough times and keep putting good swings on the ball, you’re bound to succeed, but there are so many gates that will cause you to start over, and therein is the beauty of it. It’s just like a casino. It’s totally possible to win but the odds are heavily tilted towards the house. That keeps us all playing.
