You played some good ole Texas hold 'em with Correa and he didn't pay up?
After losing half my sports betting account balance on the Super Bowl in 2017, I decided I'd make it all back and then some by hitting on a hero bet: the World Series winner preseason prop. This was just before the Dodgers became the constant mega-favorite dynasty of all of baseball - they were like the 6th or 8th favorite or so headed into that year, but I had a lot of faith in Farhan Zaidi as well as their operating budget, so I threw down on that bet like a champ. Like Nostradamus.
7 or 8 months later, the Dodgers lose to Correa's merry band of trash can cheaters in game 7 of the world series. I want my payout and I want Correa and/or buzzer boy Altuve to write the check.
Ah yeah that's rough. One of the reasons I don't gamble.
You're probably smart. I have a crazy history of getting as close as you possibly can on big futures bets with big payouts, only for my team to fail super late.
Two additional examples:
In 2010, the Netherlands lost to Spain in the World Cup finals, by conceding the game-winner very late (I think in extra time). The Netherlands were fairly big underdogs in that Cup but I had made a decent bet on them to win it all before it started, because I felt the odds were just too good to pass up. They had crushed it in the Euros headed into the World Cup. But I lose on a goal in extra time
Circa 2008, my Oregon State Beavers were projected to finish dead last in their conference in football. They were literally the biggest underdog of the Pac10 (I think this was before it became the Pac12). But my superfan buddy talked me into the Beavers being highly overlooked and we both put down bets on the Beavers to win the conference. It was like 50 to 1 - like taking the Royals to win the Series in MLB this year.
Flash forward to the Civil War game (last game of season, OSU vs. Oregon), and if the Beavs win, they win the conference and head to the Rose Bowl for the first time in my viewing lifetime. I think it was like 4 grand or more I stood to win just on that one game. They'd already shocked the world by winning enough to get to that spot, and they were at home. I got tickets along with that superfan buddy (he stood to win 20 G's) and we tailgated and boozed and were right there in person with our orange on to watch the Beavs....get utterly destroyed. Massive blowout. It was the saddest live sporting event I've ever attended.
Who needs Disneyland when you ride rollercoasters like that?

That was brutal man. I watched that game at a Buffalo Wild Wings with like 5 of my buddies, and we were all pulling for clockwork orange. The table next to us was about 6 apparent Spain superfans, all wearing Spain gear. I had it set up with the bartender that if Holland scored, he'd immediately bring a full round of Heinekens to that table of Spain fans.
How would they have reacted, I wonder? On the one hand, a free imported beer for all of them, apropos of nothing, so they should be pumped. On the other hand, their team/country just lost the frickin world cup finals and before they can wipe their tears away they got some dude rubbing it in by sending them Dutch beers and lol'ing.
Sadly, we'll never know.
Good news though: they had a raffle during that game where you get a raffle ticket with each Bud beer you bought. I drank many such Buds and won the [censored] thing! It was a mini-refigerator (for beers) with World Cup and Budweiser logos painted all over it and a clear door. Not a bad consolation prize, but it wasn't worth no 4 grand either.

If the team thought much of Lewis, why did they sign Correra?

Probably just following the Rangers approach to team building:
Step 1: Accumulate all the shortstops
Step 2: ????
Step 3: World Series winners! -
Upon further reflection, here's how this will play out. Topps will surely make a Topps Now card of Lewis if he does anything while he's up, and SDS would surely make a corresponding in-game Topps Now card out of it. Perhaps an 84 gold, perhaps we get to diamonds by then. For many players, that's the kind of shortstop that would replace their current one, and as such, my thread title holds.
-
Always loved his Future Stars card(s) so I'm all for a boosted card sooner than soon.

But if he ends up a low Diamond for example, why would I replace FOTF Corey Seager?
Seager mashes and is cheap enough everyone can afford him.

Pretty sure Royce Lewis is a made up person, he's been a prospect for at least 32 years at this point
HOF double play combo for the Mexican League. Royce Lewis and Brendan Rogers

last of the top 5 picks from that draft to make his debut, correa new was just unfortunate, hopefully no surgery, and hope this helps him opt in next year!
Karma train coming for Correa.

Correa is fine. Just a bruised finger.

The Twins are calling up their top prospect Royce Lewis today now that the cheater Carlos Correa has been hit on the hand by a pitch and appears IL-bound. Correa owes me $1700 so I'm fine with this development
About Royce. Fangraphs has his "future" attributes as a 40 hit tool (not very good), 60 game power (very good), 70 raw power (elite), a current speed of 60 (very good), and fielding of 45 (adequate). This means this card would hit for mega power but with a smallish PCI and it will be faster on the basepaths than most and fine defensively.
Last year, they made Wander Franco an inning boss as soon as he came up, and it hadn't been planned beforehand. Hopefully they do something similar this year with Royce Lewis.
A buddy of mine that plays this game a lot (Jim the Flim) says there's no way there won't be a high diamond Lewis very shortly.
Lol you have a lot of knowledge about nothing important. Way too much effort here.

I'll give ikasnu credit on Brendan Rodgers. He has always said he was [censored], even when he had a couple hot streaks last year and I called ikasnu out on it on the Rockies subreddit.
@Ikasnu_PSN Your assessment of Colton Welker if you don't mind? I want a bold prediction from a true Rockies fan.

If you think this is a lot of effort to put into something unimportant, remind me not to tell you about the novel I'm 2 chapters from completing that has a very low probability of ever getting published. That's a couple years of a lot of sleepness nights for a large text file no one cares about.

I've been so disgusted I've stopped looking at the minor leagues. Hard to get a beat on someone who hasn't played at the professional level, hopefully he's really good.
But yes BRod sucks.

Couple items to note, boys:
-Royce Lewis went 2-for-4 with a grand slam Friday in a win over the Guardians.
-In the 7 games he has played in since his call up, Royce Lewis has at least one hit in 6 of them -
