120Hz after update..

I played a few event games today on 120. Most of them were playing as they should at 120. One played terrible. Perhaps it was someone with a bad internet connection. It could also have been a 60hz player and the matchmaking chooses the lowest, which would be ridiculous. Regardless, it seems game to game and we are left in the dark by SDS’s poor communication with its players.
I think most of us are experiencing 120, but I think what is bothering us that the game plays worse at that now than at 60hz. And there is definitely a HUGE difference between when they first enabled it for and the patch that fixed the matchmaking.
On HOF when it first dropped i was putting up 8-10 runs in mini seasons. The first game I played Corey Seager took the Big Unit deep off an outside fastball i was early on... I was like [censored]...I like this. I just turned 120hz on again for a mini season game to see and just had a barn burner with the legend that is Tikki Toussiant on the bump just shutting me DOWN.
Can anyone tag some SDS peeps on this? I'm old and your technology frightens me

What I personally think is that they simply allowed 120Hz but did some tweaking on the actual frames the game uses to balance it out to basically exactly how it was before. When I was using VRR last week when we couldn't play online and everything felt great, the frames hovered around 60fps but sometimes shot up towards the high 70s and even to 120 at times (again, while using VRR so NOT just 120hz enabled). This lead me to believe that the frames were uncapped.
Now with VRR on both 60Hz and 120Hz it's a solid lock on 60fps and 120fps in my frame counter without ANY fluctuation, which indicates to me the frames have been locked and this whole 120hz thing became pretty much a placebo effect as a result.
-
So are people keeping 120 on or turning off right now and just playing on 60? I played events today and it just wasn’t smooth, very inconsistent overall

Lol lol lol lol

Not sure if this is an option for you but I switched over to Xbox last week and I have to say it is like night and day. The game plays smooth and timing windows just make sense. I got the series s so not too much of an investment. If you play the game a lot it’s definitely worth it.

It was just too good to be true. Maybe the ps4 guys were right: no way sds would allow ps5 to move forward and leave last gen behind.

Meh I'll probably just stop playing The Show. I don't dislike Xbox or anything but I don't play any Xbox specific games and just buying one for this extremely mediocre installment of The Show... nah.

I just played BR after work to test it out and the match seemed fine and played smooth. I was the home team. My Hz never dropped below 117hz (except for a second or two while entering the match 47hz or so).
While I lost 5-4, I was actually early on a few Hunter Greene FB's and saw the pitches well. My opponent did well, however, keeping me off balance.
While I do not know for sure, I believe that online gameplay quality and latency depends mostly on ping. I came to this realization after playing vs someone in Korea a few years ago around 3:00-4:00am....The entire match had horrid latency and even disappearing pitches at times.
(FYI: PS5, LGC1, 4k, HDR, VRR, 120hz, all "On" or "Automatic")

These guys didn’t get their quick fix they found out they still suck on 120hz so they are still complaining

I think what make it bad for us is we got to experience what smooth gameplay was like offline for just a bit. Now with 120hz enabled playing mini seasons I'm back to almost having to swing when the ball leaves the pitchers hand on HOF. Like why change that? What could they have possibly done so that online matchmaking would work with 120hz that it would affect anything with offline ?
I think there is a lot of people looking for any sort of answer ..... @Victor_SDS_PSN
Hell, anything at all at this point from them commenting on this whole release / numerous issues would be nice..

I can't remember the last time I saw him on this forum. I don't think it's been this year I'm not even sure about last year. I remember he used to be on the forum frequently. It seems like we get sporadic answers from the same person whose name I can't remember but it's not victor.
Edit.... After I sent that I went to the main diamond dynasty page and there is a reply from Victor pinned to the top lol. I guess he is here. I just remember some other STS employee who seems to reply more often I just can't think of his name.

It's Collin. Not that it matters, neither of them seem to give a fck.

Your all crazy lol all my gear says vrr and 120 both working stop using well before lol use real analysis please
Mine says the same thing but I don't have vrr. Long story short I think it's just obvious that on Playstation offline is so much smoother than online. I cannot speak for Xbox
Offline has played great for years. You start to incorporate peoples terrible internet connection and everything goes downhill.
We need dedicated servers, dudes on WiFi in the basement receiving the weakest signal from their router upstairs are basically dragging everybody down with them.

This is very interesting. I'm curious how they are able to "lock" the frames to 120fps without lowering texture detail etc. Do you think the PS5 build has vsync enabled?
I'm on xbox series x and my frames while using VRR (with HDR) are fluctuating between 60 and 120 fps according to the frame counter on my LG C1.
Frame rates should never be "locked" at a certain fps, as this would hint at the use of VSYNC in an effort to avoid screen tearing and which would substantially increase input lag. Fps can be "capped" at a certain threshold (30/60/120 whatever), but certainly never locked.

Did mlbts have patch for the game to support 120hz gameplay, or was it the Ps5 only that had the update?
Edit: nvm, see it was patched into game.
Id guess nxt yrs game will be fully supportive of 120hz with a full cycle of development to get it right.

All the people who bought new monitors and SDS makes the game worse…what a shame this year is.
In my defense I mostly just wanted it for the Apex update in August that brings 120hz to Ps5.
