All of your analogies are great but it’s not the same when you have to go on the black market to buy a PS5. If they were in stores or selling online from actual retailers, sure, move on to next gen. But they aren’t. It’s not a money issue. It’s a I don’t want to give money to shady people selling PS5s for $300 over retail.
If SONY wants to alienate the PS4 customers, then make sure you can at least produce enough to go around to everyone who wants to buy one over a year later after release.

What does this mean for PS4 users ..won't they be completely overmatched?
If we can play at 120Hz, then yeah you're at a significant disadvantage. Time to upgrade.
See this makes me think they'll revert everything to 60hz...seems wrong to alienate a large group
I have to disagree with this and doubt they care if they alienate the PS4 users. If they hold the new console back due to the old console not having the same technology... what would be the point of paying $500 for a new console??? They wouldn't make a new car with new features, then disable the new features to be loyal to customers that paid for the previous version... that would just be bad business. They should and better be upgrading PS5 to 120hz... because that's what PS5 users paid for. PS4 users never paid for a 120hz system... so they need to buy a new console to get it. 120hz imo should have been enabled at launch and needs to be added asap because this is a Sony game and it's better to play on a Microsoft product... that is not good business for Sony.
You are spot on. Don't bother trying to have a debate with this stinky guy. It's kinda his thing to be argumentative, most people know him from one of his other accounts so we just ignore him.
You could have a written report from playstion CEO Jim Ryan and he will still argue.
Wow really?... I'm being argumentative?
Actually what I'm saying is fact whether you agree with it or not...it is the exact reason why they continue to make games for both PS4 and PS5 ...not enough people have a PS5 to support the sales..this is factThey made the show 14,15, and 16 for both the PS3 and the PS4 and this wasn't a topic of discussion. Availability of the PS5 has nothing do do with why they shouldn't be holding the PS5s capabilities back. If you can't get a PS5 fine, but you need to accept that this game should be an inferior product on the PS4.
Also I can tell that none of you play any other games but this one. Quite literally every other game that has crossplay has PC thrown in the mix
I agree, the game should play superior and use the full capacity of the next gen but dont match up ps4 players with ps5 players if crossplay is off. And for dang sure i wont be spending a penny on DD if im in such disadvantage, nor should anyone else with an old console.
Im still playing on my old ps4 because i dont wanna spend 1200 bucks on a ps5 here in canada.
Those are fair arguments. At some point we have to make the transition though, despite a PS5 still being hard to obtain. This is the second next gen installment, I think it's fair to move on from PS4 at this point and focus solely on the abilities of next gen machines when it comes to decision making. They could also go the route 2K took by making a completely separate game for current gen and previous gen, but since they don't do that for whatever reason I feel it's completely fair to focus on the future instead of the past.
I agree with this...but how many PS5 users actually bought the show?
I'm sure you can find those numbers in an annual report from SDS that will come out later this year. In my opinion that question is irrelevant to the point I tried making though, because down the line of my arguments it's not about catering to the majority (if the PS4 would still be the majority, I do not know), but moving on and focusing on the present/future and PS5/XSX capabilities while still making the game accessible for previous gen users so they can at least still play it, albeit with a disadvantage because the system they use is previous gen with less capable hardware that isn't being catered to anymore.
Yes..but it is relevant...you have to figure..are the sales worth the effort
It is relevant, but not in the context of the arguments I was making where their focus should solely be on PS5/XSX capabilities. If previous gen owners can tag along and still play the same game under worse conditions then that's great and very welcome, but it makes total sense to make the transition now. It'll be 2 years soon since PS5 released. I'm open to the availability arguments, because of the scarcity (although not impossible to find one) but not open for the price tag arguments.
People who say "I don't wanna spend X amount of money" sound extremely entitled to me, because if they don't wanna spend money that's totally fine. Nobody is forcing anyone to do so. But you can not expect the premium while not willing to pay for it and it's basically a big F you to all those who did put down that money. Consider yourself being one of those people for a minute and you hear PS4 owners make these arguments.
I remember when the PS4 came out. I was in college and had no money to upgrade right away from my PS3. I understood that I would not have the same benefits as those PS4 users and never even thought of complaining about it, because that's how the world works.
I think you misunderstood....I mean from the companies side...is the effort worth the return...are there actually enough PS5 users purchasing the game for them to produce 2 separate games/fully explore the upgrade capabilities?

If you own a PS5 and want to use a created stadium and match up with a PS4 user; you won't be able to use that stadium because the PS4 doesn't support it.
Should be the same with the 120 Hz option.

I think for a lot of people it’s not that they don’t want to fly first class, it’s that there aren’t enough seats.

That's not the point. Flying first class doesnt get you to your destination faster than if you fly coach. You both get there at the same time.
Being able to play a competitive game, that awards players for winning, on a system that performs better than another system isnt fair.
Same thing with Stadium creator. If you have a PS5, and want to us a created stadium, you have to match up with another user that has a PS5. This should be the same for 120 Hz.
And to counter act anyone saying that it's fair to be able to benefit from 120 Hz when your opponent can't; just look at everyone who wanted to/did leave for Xbox because the PS5 didn't support 120 Hz.
They didn't think it was fair to be matched up with a console that had an advantage.
But now these same people are saying 'tough' if you don't have a PS5.

But again it’s availability….yes “some” exist but there is clearly a distinct shortage that has been documented from the last almost 2 years. I don’t have the personal recollection from previous initial launches, but while there may be instances of short supply at a given location, there was never anything on a scale as there is today.
There is a big difference between going into 1 of any dozen brick + mortar places or their respective online retailer vs having to scour the internet, be first notice on releases/stocking, etc.

I played a few BR games this morning and it seemed to work well. I had VRR and 120hz enabled on my Sony 900h. Smooth and no crashes or frame rate drops so far. I also didn’t have to strain myself to turn on fastballs. Very noticeable going from 15.2 ms to 6.7 ms input lag.
Overall, I’m glad I gave them some more time to fix this before going out and buying an Xbox. More clear communication would have been appreciated, though.
Additional note; I’m fairly certain the fps is still capped at 60. Offline it isn’t. I actually catch myself being able to see the seams on the ball sometimes.

Lol "scour the internet"?
Just Googled "ps5 ebay" and boom I could have one here thursday for $695 + $20 shipping, in box, form a seller with 98.8% positive feedback, and backed by ebays money back guarantee. $200 over retail, I would hardly call that scouring.

Those having trouble finding a PS5 really should download a stock alert app. I had one within a few days of using one last year….at retail price.
