Lol. It's a nice way to go but if they wanted to just shell out another 150 to 200 the LG C1 oled is far worth it. Or wait and get that 42in C2.

Only thing that concerns me is the lack of bandwidth on HDMI 2.1 on that gigabyte monitor. It only uses yuv420 color at 4k 120. Probably not a big deal to most though.

You can't notice the bandwidth issue at all, unless you would use it for office purposes where you have to deal with a lot of text with different color patterns against different backgrounds. For gaming you don't notice it at all. And yeah the OLEDs are nice, I actually have 1 as my main TV but there are a few reasons I don't enjoy gaming on it. First would be the size, I used to game on PC so I'm more of a desk gamer than a couch gamer, the OLEDs are way too big for a desk. Second would be the burn in risks, a buddy of mine has suffered from it on his C1 and it's terrible. But yeah quality wise they sure are right up there.

Same here! The wifey and I are moving this Saturday and bought ourselves a new king too. That puts the expenses of a monitor or a console in a different perspective haha.

Yes there is definitely the size and ergonomics difference. Guess it just depends on setup and usage.

Ok, now let's not get everyone on this site shopping for mattresses too lol. Every time I hop back on here I see another " buying a monitor" thread already.

I think Alienware just released a 32" HDMI 2.1 OLED monitor, but it's gonna break the bank. Maybe the prices will come down a bit in a year or so, but there's no doubt in my mind that OLED technology is the future.

Edit: it is OLED but not HDMI 2.1. Costs about 1600$.

Didn't I explain this to you already yesterday? You can run 120hz even without HDMI 2.1.

HDMI 2.1 is only required for 4k 120fps

Hopefully you got one with hdmi 2.1 or you wasted your money

He can still play 120fps at 1080p, actually he is on Xbox he can play on 1440p too

But the game doesn’t play at 120fps it maxes at 60fps

With the update it can play @ 120hz offline only for now on the PS5- and apparently it’s been able to play on 120hz on Xbox online

Are you sure it is the (2021) C1 model your buddy has? I have used my C1 LG OLED for over a year as a gaming monitor, religiously, and it has no burn in. I used to have an older 2016 LG OLED and it did have terrible burn-in (all from the Show), however, the new models have new tech that helps to prevent that. Also, while the 48" does sound big for a "monitor", it is a noticable crutch for us older folks, like myself, who have declining vision quality. LOL

Yes, it is the 2021 model. Not sure how or when it happened but he's not too happy about it and understandably so, even though he knew the risks. But again, I'm not saying the OLED would be a bad choice or anything like that, they're incredibly high quality. But for me, I wouldn't be comfortable playing games on it for the reasons I explained. But like I said before, everyone is different.

I did too. I'm on PS5 so its still a bit of a risk at the moment seeing that PS5 can't use online what Xbox Series X can, but I needed a monitor upgrade anyway. Bought the gigabyte M32u per @raesONE_PSN recommendation

You won't regret it. Make sure to update the firmware to f06 or higher though, it drops your input lag significantly. Be sure to check what firmware is installed out of the box because the difference is significant.

Will do. Any videos for setup you may recommend?

I just followed Rtings recommendations, their review can be found here. Make sure that when you're using VRR or 120hz to set the overdrive setting to 'Picture Quality'. You can use it for 60hz content as well but it will have minor inverse ghosting (not a deal breaker to me at all, but everyone is different). If that bothers you, you can set the overdrive setting back to 'Off' whenever you play 60hz content. Everything else is just user preference, I use the 'Custom 1' picture setting which is basically the same as Standard and all I did was adjust brightness.

Did you guys leave HDR on for your Gigabyte M32U? I tried it with it on at first but everything looked too dark to me.

Here I am stuck with HDMI 1.4. It can do 1080p 144hz just fine, but the PS5 don't care 'bout that so I'm a peasant stuck in 60fps land
