I hope this is just an unfounded rumor, but I’m going to rant as if it isn’t. If SDS caps the game at 60hz online…I’m going to make some changes. I will 100% sell my PS5 and buy an Xbox if this happens. I also won’t be buying Sony televisions any longer. Don’t drive my business away from Sony, SDS. I’ve been a customer for a very long time. I’ve purchased every PlayStation console and every single MLBTS ever made, including the ones that came out before most of you worked there.

I purchased a next-gen console and next-gen Sony TV over a year ago and have been very patient waiting for features to be added that were actually next-gen. Now that those features are finally available, you want to prevent their use? Why? SDS allowed 120hz with VRR on Xbox for a year, why would it now be capped on PS5?

If you agree that this would be a ridiculous decision and/or would take similar actions, let SDS know below.

Have you tried the VRR setting yet? If you set your PS5 to 120Hz and enable VRR for all games, the game will fluctuate around 60Hz instead of 120Hz, but you will be given the benefit of reduced input lag as if you were playing on 120Hz AND without screen tearing.

Edit: you do need a compatible TV/monitor but I assume you do.

Honestly If we get conformation that PS5 will be able to run at 120 hz online I'll buy a new monitor tonight and turn cross play off in the meantime. If not I just won't get a new monitor

While VRR may not be supported (yet) on the PS5 MLBTS, the higher 120hz refresh rate is a noticable improvement. I thought my input lag was good prior to today, but now after the updates, I did notice a big improvement on the PS5. Just going back and forth on the menu is so much faster than before. It almost seemed like my display was reacting to my input before I even realized that I was selecting anything.

Same. Although I do plan on buying a seriesX eventually. Tired of hearing about how much better it is.

I have thought about it for a while too. All my friends that play video games play a lot of gamepass exclusive games so I get left out on that. PS5 is still worth it for the exclusives it offers, especially Spiderman(love those games). Series X is quite a ways ahead of PS5 in its capabilities though

Next gen X owners have stated previously that the game was running 60fps at 120hz for them in last year's game.

If MLBTS currently utilizes VRR in online h2h for them (in addition to their 120hz refresh rate), I would like for SDS to give PS5 owners an ETA on when they will utilize VRR for us.

Thanks, I remember that thread from last year. Seems like SDS wasn't even sure about VRR. Hopefully they will release an official statement regarding this issue.

Your DD team will carry over, yes. It’s cross-platform.

Update: So apparently the VRR update came out for PS5. I enabled it and still cannot enter online play. Not RS, BR, events, or casual. Ridiculous.

You have to go in and turn off 120 fps. It’s set to automatic, but you need to turn it off. Everyone is thinking fps not hz.

Why would I ever do that? I spent the money on a 120hz console and television, both from Sony. I’ve waited over a year for the features to be implemented. Now I’m supposed to go back in time 10 years? Bring on the input lag? No thank you.

I dont understand. So playstation updated the ps5 to allow vrr or whatever around the same time sds decided to allow 120hz for ps5, but only foe offline. sds also gave xbox 120hz from the beginning, and they thought what, that the ps5 guys would be cool if we got an offline upgrade only. Did they think we wouldn't mind xbox not only getting the game on gamepass, but a better version as well? Where are they? Why do they never respond to us!

So I’ve been checking into Xbox the last 30 min or so. It looks like I can sell my PS5 and get an Xbox at a profit due to Sony’s failures in production.

Doing so will allow me to play MLBTS every year with game pass for free…at 120hz. Hope that SDS allows PS5 to also play at 120hz and my rapidly evaporating loyalty to Sony are the only things holding me back. I’ll give it a few days.

Right! Buy an $800 new monitor, or sell this ps4++ and play halo again....
