Played a game in mini seasons just now, and the opposing team had gold Jim Edmonds behind the dish and no catchers on the bench. So he was the catcher for the entire 3 innings. With a blocking rating of 0, he had 0 dropped pitches and 0 passed balls. Not a big deal but funny how that works.

I think its annoying just how good blocking is this year. Pitching low should come with the threat of passed balls IMO. Not that it matters because you could dig a grave with a pitched ball and someone still make contact lol

When Jimmy Baseball was a wee lad in coach pitch leagues in SoCal, he caught 3 innings of underhanded toss. Those skills transfered over.

I think the only year blocking mattered was 20, when they made a big deal out of it. Last year was back to our regular programming.

I've noticed online a lot of bouncing balls in the dirt that for half a second look like they are behind the catcher and will roll away, only to magically appear in the catchers glove as they stand up ready to throw. I've learned not to try and advance unless it rolls away by 15 feet or more.

My favourite is when I throw a curveball, not even in the dirt and my catcher just teleport to his left and the ball bounces to the backstop; like ho.. wh... uh??

I answered your question about using Timing…asked a couple questions myself. You must have not seen them.

The first couple Mini-Season games I played near Launch before I reset. One team had Blake Snell at Catcher.

I played one before where George Brett was at catcher. Never dropped a pitch, but couldn't throw out any steal attempts. Which was good because it was right when they added in the xp missions and the 10 SBs got knocked out pretty easily.

what year was it that you could put anyone you wanted at Catcher and they were still capable of doing well fielding? I remember people putting OF and 3B there just for the bat

In the same vein, 21 and 22 are the first 2 years you can't play a guy in a position he doesn't have a secondary for; 19 and 20 had big penalties but allowed; 18 I don't care to remember and before 18 I straight don't remember.

I saw somebody say that position guys or pitchers randomly fill in for a CAP in mini season

Oh really? That would explain it. Weird though.

are you sure? I haven't tried it in 22 but I feel like I put people out of position at 2b last year (against the cpu)

Also speaking of...I remember every one using Joey Gallo at 2B one year because the penalty still gave him decent defense lol
