I just love that it failed and the yankees got absolutely roasted by that awesome Detroit crowd. Go Tigers! yankees do suck.
Me too. Makes the IBB look even more petty. I hope we give them grief for that the rest of the year.

1 run game, 1B was open, a lefty was on the mound, and a lefty was on deck. The move makes perfect baseball sense. Cabrera should’ve just gotten a hit earlier in the game lmao.
What happened after the IBB makes your argument pointless. For the sake of respect Miggy should've been allowed to try for a hit. Besides there were two outs anyway and he'd already struck out twice. It's called sportsmanship.
So because the unlikely outcome happened, it makes the smart decision pointless? Boone’s goal is to win games, not care about whether or not a player on a different team gets a milestone. Besides, it’s not like this was Cabrera’s last game or something. You’re crying over nothing.

A buddy pointed out that all of baseball was dropping FB down the pipe to Jeter before his 3000th.

So now "sportsmanship" and "respect" take precedent over winning ballgames? When the yankees are fighting for a wild card spot this year needing every win possible, are they gonna look back and go "well atleast we gave Cabrera an attempt at 3,000, that's all that matters".
And people wonder why no one respects baseball anymore.

Everyone had a problem when they walked Jeter before his 3,000th. If it was wrong to do that to Jeter then it's wrong to do that to Miggy.

Coming from a huge Yankee fan and I can speak on behalf of over a dozen people in my circle who are about as die-hard as it gets....no one thought it was "wrong". Disappointed? Yes. "Wrong"? No. Baseball is still baseball.

My god. What a genuine crock.
I've lived in NYC or Hoboken for 49 years. Yankees fans were crying, cursing and behaving like it was THEY who got IBB, HBP and caught looking all in the same at bat.
Yankee fans should shut it, wear it and move on.

Sportsmanship are you serious ---its called you're a Manager of Major League Team you do what's best for your team - you're making it sound like that was his last at bat for the season. I know Detroit doesn't have much to look forward to but seriously it was the right move.

The Yankees got MLB The Showed 22
you mean the next at bat when meadows hit a texas leaguer that landed perfectly between ss/lf/cf? yes sir you are correct, and you gotta love to see when being a ninny gets punished...

I'm rooting for Cabrera to get the 3,000, which he will. However, your point of view is from a bias fan perspective. It was a smart baseball move that didn't work out for the Yankees. You play for the win, not personal accolades, especially not ones for the opposing team. That may be hard for someone like you that hasn't played organized sports since age 6 t-ball, but chalk that one up as your lesson learned today, champ.
-
It is not like He walked him every at bat. That would be something to cry about. It is still early in the year and he will to his hit. Stop with the none sense. It is about winning games. if there were 0 outs or no one on base and the game was not close and he got walk that would be a different story.

Well, similar to this forum....you have fans who are realists and truly understand the game, and you have your babies who have nothing better to do than [censored] and moan.
All of the Yankee fans in my circle played baseball our entire lives. Some until college, some through college and some as high as AA. Fair to say we have a little bit different perspective on things than your typical NY crybaby, so no its not a "crock" you were just surrounded by idiots.

Miggy was struck out twice by Montgomery and was 0-3. Two outs and a guy that runs a 90 second sprint to 1B. Give me a break.

It was an at-bat where he could have gotten his 3,000 hit. A major milestone that not a lot of players reach. And we actually do have a lot to look forward to, including shutting you out of the postseason again. "Right" move or not, it was a [expletive] move and the world knows it, except you apparently.

This is such a "participation trophy" mindset its laughable. He's gonna have how many more oportunities to get it?
