I started a career as a second baseman, played a season.
Next, I created a new ballplayer, this time a starting pitcher. I am now in August, and my next game I'm to play DH! Instead of playing the game at DH with my pitcher, I closed the app. Upon restart, loading the season no longer works; it displays an error with the following message:

    HEADS UP! BALLPLAYER CONFLICT!
You are about to load a ballplayer into a Road to the Show save that has a different position. To continue using this save file, please create a new ballplayer or change to one that matches.

I can resume this save file with my second baseman, but not with the pitcher. And the second baseman ballplayer actually plays as DH/LF in this career!

This happened to me if it's the same situation. You have to go back to the main screen and select the Profile in the upper left. Click manage and change to the correct created player. I switched from pitcher to a 3rd base. Played a while and then loaded my pitcher again. I got your error. I switched to the pitcher arch player and was fine. You can't play a saved player unless your loaded arch type is the same. You have position or pitcher.

My issue is that the pitcher career file has now been converted into a position player career file (DH/LF).
Although the save file is for a Pitcher, I can only load it using a position player ballplayer (and even that is in the wrong position).

And it happened again! Since I could no longer continue to pitch in that career file, I started a brand new career with this ballplayer. Same thing happened again, and at the exact same point in the season: after pitching 3 games in the majors, the next game is as a DH, batting 9th.
I have not played this next game (quit the app), and I can still load the save file with my SP ballplayer. I assume the conflict will occur after I play this game, as it happened the first time around.

Same here. I created a new ballplayer, or so I thought, at a different position from my current player, a SS for the Giants. The new player was supposed to be a RF who was drafted by the Rockies. But the clubhouse scene showed my player in AAA for the Giants. Went to the roster and he is in RF for the Rockies AA team, then all of a sudden he is in AAA with no announcement or meeting with the manager, yet the clubhouse scene is still in Giants AAA. Lots of bugs to be worked out for the next patch.

I may have a solution. Make a Two-Way Player and load him into the RTTS save that's giving you the error message. Then simulate until you're called into the Manager's office for poor batting performance. When this happens you are given the choice to be sent down to AAA or to only be a pitcher. When you choose to only be a pitcher you then manually save and exit to the main menu where you can change back to your pitching player. Finally, load back into your RTTS and the error message should be gone.

P.S: You may have to sim multiple times because if your pitching is poor while simulating they'll send you down to AAA. Also, I have only pitched one game so the error may just come up again. Hope this helps though 🙂

This is stupid. So you basically still have to make a 2 way player like last year but say you only want to pitch. Ridiculous because the same thing just happened to me and now I have to screw with my rookie season to try and fix it.

took me about two hours of simulating to fix it. had to get a sim where to start a season I pitched well but hit poorly. manager asked me if I wanted to switch back to pitcher only. If you leave the calendar it will quit out of rtts

The bug, as I encountered it, modified the Starting Pitcher career file to a Two-Way player career file. It does not affect the ballplayer, just the career file.
Since the 3rd game patch, I've been able to progress past the 3rd game in the majors, and I'm now in my 4th year of the career.

and when did this 3rd game patch come out? Because this just happened to me two days ago when my pitcher file got corrupted.

Same issue for me. And the dimming thing is not a fix, this is definitely a bug.

Can confirm this still happens. Starting pitcher from AA. Pitch my way to the Blue Jays. Pitch five starts or so with the Jays.

Got a cutscene about being called the next Ohtani (okay, that's weird).Next game has me a DH. Finish the game, suddenly I have a save file conflict.

Extremely frustrating. This is some EA Sports-level stuff.

That is exactly what happened to my SP only Ballplayer.

I have been complaining about this since the game came out. It's the freaking all Star break and you still Can't use a pitcher in RTTS. They just don't care to fix it. Won't be buying the Show ever again, I can tell you that much!

How is this bug still occurring? I created a Starting Pitcher pitcher for a year until I got called up. A few games in, I get put in as a DH for no reason, then as soon as I go back to the clubhouse, I'm locked out, where the game thinks im a 2-way player.

Autosave was on, so that save can only be played with a brand new 2-way or Position player. I tried simulating years into the future to get the manager discussion about switching back, but it never came. Save file completely wasted.

The Show support has ignored my ticket, and there is no fix.
